When the kids first started exchanging Valentine's in school I couldn't help but pour over Pinterest and admire all of the cutsie Valentine ideas out there...but then, the kids always have their own ideas like popsicle stick magnets, "orange you glad we're friends", handmade and handcrafted cards, "I wand you... At the risk of sounding like a broken record...I made some more safari raglans! This time though, as promised, I made them for Violet and Henry and not for myself... They were beyond excited when I showed them their new raglans...and even more so when they saw that the pockets... Continue reading

I'm not really a sweatpants kinda girl...I never have been actually. I've always been pretty much a jeans or skirts/dresses/shorts...kinda girl. I'm not sure why exactly, I think it has something to do with the fact that I just feel like I'm wearing pajamas? Or perhaps because sweats aren't typically... Continue reading

We are taking the kids to their first Broadway show this weekend! I'll be honest, I'm a tiny bit worried about the length of the show, three hours (including the intermission) is a long time to sit still! I mean I find myself often getting a little bored and antsy,... Continue reading

Sometimes when you finally print off a pattern that you've been wanting to make for a while you can't stop at just one...right? Well, that seems to be the case for me and the safari raglan. Partly, I think, it's because once you've got a pattern printed out and see... Continue reading

Last weekend, after running 16 miles, my family took me to a trampoline park. It was a ton of fun and an amazing workout! Then when we got home, despite having just eaten lunch, I was hungry! Scrounging for something to eat I found a unopened carton of heavy cream... Continue reading

Sometimes all you need is too much leftover fabric from a well executed first project and a few extra minutes... I'm not sure what exactly i was thinking when I purchased the faux shearling for the kid's vests, but I got way more than I needed! While I do really... Continue reading

It's a long standing "lucky number" for my husband's family, 37... It pops up often for each and every one of them, in meaningful moments, but just as often during unexpected or odd times as well. When my sister-in-law wished me a happy birthday last year she noted that "It's... Continue reading

Happy February! February is always a busy month for us with Valentine's day and a birthday to celebrate at the beginning (mine) and at the end (Violet's) of the month. Regardless of what the "celebration of the week" is...February is surely a month filled with love, and hearts... (above, I... Continue reading

Groundhog day is just around the corner...Tuesday to be exact...and whether you've got an affinity for the holiday as I do or you just like a good kid craft, here are a couple of fun pop up groundhog puppets I've made in years past... Try using a water bottle and... Continue reading

One day, while running into Joann, to grab "one quick thing" I came across some faux shearling on sale. Of course, as you might guess, I ended up buying more than simply "one quick thing" and couldn't resist the faux shearling. I bought a couple of yards and hoped that... Continue reading

Sometime in December I asked both Violet and Henry if there was anything they were interested in giving each other for Christmas and mentioned that if they wanted to make something that we were available to assist them if they were interested. They both had a think about it for... Continue reading

This post originally posted over on Oliver + S. Last year after Liesl saw the sweater mittens I made for the kids during Kids Clothes Week she asked me if I wouldn't mind writing up a little tutorial on how to make them for the Oliver + S blog! So,... Continue reading

My kids, Violet in particular, but both of them really though, are continually impressed by my ability to "just make something"! Just this evening Violet came into the kitchen wearing her zebra nightgown as I was cleaning up after dinner, her tummy still full of one of her favorites, sausage... Continue reading

I have this idea to sew more with Violet and Henry. Often. And then, they are busy doing other things when I think we might tackle it or vice versa and they come to me asking to sew something when I'm elbows deep in something else...That, and it makes me... Continue reading

Over our Christmas break everyone but me managed to be sick in one way or the other. Isn't that always the way it goes! Fortunately, it wasn't the flu like last year and they all waited to get sick until after Christmas and after our travels and family visits! Of... Continue reading

In our house, as with so many others, it's traditional to get a new pair of Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve. As it lays out on our Christmas Eve...church, split pea soup for dinner, and then our Christmas Eve gifts which are another tradition in our home - ornaments some... Continue reading

This year, something unusual occurred, I actually had Christmas ensembles sewn up for both kids weeks before Christmas! Of course, it's the middle of January by the time I'm getting around to blogging about them, but let's just let that one slide shall we... Initially, for Violet, I had intended... Continue reading

Courtney, thank you so much! I will say that the impending Boston is making me a little bit nervous! ;) I personally think that that might be too restrictive if you don't allow yourself to count your extra calories...but maybe that's just me. I honestly do all that I do so I CAN eat those calories! ;) Especially on the weekends, when I know I want to have wine/beer I work out/run more so that I get those "extra" calories for the extra weekend treats! Good luck with the whole30! And with your journey as well! I'm happy to answer any further questions you might have, if that helps ...feel free to email :)
Thank you so much Kristin! :) Yes, especially with having a daughter (and having dealt with body image/weight issues in the past) makes it even more important to me that I stress health and strength more than anything else, for me and for V! Yes, Boston here I come, i'm a little nervous!
Good luck to you! the cranky/hungry feeling does go away! ;) xoxo!
She was a great person! :)
