Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. I have a quick post for you tonight - and it's my clean and simple card for our Addicted to CAS Challenge and the fabulous Doni is our hostess for this week and she has a code word that is TOTALLY up my alley Now.... how could I NOT be excited about that code word :-) My only problem was deciding what I was going to use. In the end, I decided to go for a totally non-stamped card. Instead I used the elements from the My Minds Eye MEOW paper pack and additional elements. I... Continue reading

source The old house by the lindens Stood silent in the shade, And on the gravelled pathway The light and shadow played. I saw the nursery windows Wide open to the air; But the faces of the children, They were no longer there. They walked not under the lindens, They played not in the hall; But shadow, and silence, and sadness Were hanging over all. The birds sang in the branches, With sweet, familiar tone; But the voices of the children Will be heard in dreams alone! Longfellow When will this madness stop and when will parents stop having to... FHi Everyone. Happy Tuesday. Over the weekend, I did manage to make a few cards for the Altenew Educator Certification Program that I am doing, so will have a few cards to share with you for the rest of the week. Tonight's card is one of my favorites and I really wish I could get a photo that would show you just how rich and gorgeous the colors really are! Watercoloring is something I still have issues with... I really do want to control the paint far too much and just find it hard to let go and let the... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Monday Hope you are all having a great start to the week and staying warm! I saw this gorgeous photo across at Just Add Ink this weekend Considering we are still in the midst of winter with incessant cold temperatures, seeing this photo just made me so happy! I am still getting through my classes at the Altenew Educator Certification Program and needed some cards as part of that. This photo gave me the perfect excuse to use one of my new favorite sets - Stunning Cosmos and it was ideal for the class as I needed... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a color challenge for us: Kraft isn't a color I use very often.... in fact, I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I have used it over the last few years, so this challenge was a great excuse to get some of that old card stock out! I decided rather than running from the Kraft, I would put it front and center and make it the focal base layer for my card. I began by... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. And, because I just can't resist giving you all an ear worm.... Wild Thing... You make my heart sing... you make everything groovy..... It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great theme for us: As Lou travels so much, I have gotten into the habit of leaving a little card in his bag before he leaves. Now, I don't do it every time, as I still like there to be a small element of surprise :-) So, a challenge requesting me to create a love-themed/Valentine card... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. It's the fabulous Susan's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge this week and she has a color code word for us. Now, teal is one of my favorite colors but, for some unknown reason, I rarely use it on cards! So, I had to spend a little time thinking about what I was going to do with it! As some of you may know, I am currently attending the classes for the Altenew Academy Educator Program and the classes I am finishing up are on layering. That provided just the inspiration I needed to... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Nance's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a really cool sketch for us: As soon as I saw this sketch it reminded me of a Simon Says Stamp die that I bought ages ago. I thought that, as well as a script stencil that I have in my stash, would be perfect for the challenge. I began with a piece of vellum and the stencil. I used some Altenew inks and added the script to the vellum and put it aside to dry. I then took the... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. I was thrilled to find an email yesterday with the subject line: Welcome to the Altenew Educator Certification Program! I had to look at it at least 4 times before I realized what it was..... and once I realized, I must admit I let out a little squeal of delight! As my regular blog followers know, I am a great advocate of Altenew. The team stormed onto the market and they haven't stopped since. Their flowers are incredible, I love their inks and am a fan of their customer support. So, when they announced this new... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Quick post for you tonight. I needed a birthday card and went looking for a little inspiration. I found this great challenge across at the Male Room Initially, I was looking through my stamp sets for something with a vintage feel - but then I came across an old set from My Favorite Things called Uncorked and it had the perfect sentiment for the challenge. Oh... and... to be honest.. it was the perfect sentiment for the person this card is going to. I've known this particular gent for 40 years and I swear he hasn't aged a... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday. I have a quick post for you tonight. I needed a card to send to some friends and I saw this wonderful, bright and sunny color scheme at Just Us Girls and thought it was the perfect combo to send to a couple who are in the middle of winter in England. Where, I might add, it's dull and grey and rainy and wet and windy :-) Now, this is a pretty bold color collection for me and I cannot remember the last time I used mustard.... but I decided to throw my prejudices to the... Hi Everyone. Happy Monday and greetings from a snowed in Minnesota! I got to spend some time in my craft room yesterday. It was great because I made cards for people that I needed to send cards to.... it felt really good making something for a specific reason and I really enjoyed myself! I needed an anniversary card for my besties and knew that I wanted to use one of the new stamps that I received for Christmas. Cosmos flowers are of special significance for me. Cosmos is prolific where I lived in South Africa in spring and we used... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great Clean and Simple theme for us I wasn't sure what to do with this.... but then went looking through my old stamp sets and found a perfect set from Papertrey Ink called Star Gazer. It fit beautifully with a piece of paper from the My Minds Eye paper pack called Hey, Mister! It was the perfect backdrop to my focal element. Here's my card: This was such an easy card to put together. I cut a piece of... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. Quick post for you today. It's the totally fabulous Barb's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge this week and she has this as our code word: When I saw this, I realized I had some wonderful paper that came as part of the My Minds Eye - Blush paper pack and I knew it would be perfect. Now... I am not a PINK person..... however, I must admit, I am pretty sold on this new blush color that is doing the rounds in interior design... I know.... very odd for me and I would... Hi Everyone. Quick post for you this morning. It's my pleasure to host the Paper Players challenge this week and it's a color challenge. I originally intended this as a more masculine color set, but with the addition of any other color it can go many different places. I decided to add gold to mine. I used the Build a Rose set from Altenew - this really is one of my favorite sets. Although I love it, I am still trying to perfect the arrangement of the individual stamps to get them in the right place. Once I think I... Continue reading

Jan, it definitely must have been the English roots.... somehow it sticks with you. One of the things I like about flying British Airways is that the tea is actually drinkable :-) hugs jaydee

Thanks, Kelly :-) Oh.... and if you fell in love with the stronger brew of the tea you drank in Ireland, I have some good suggestions for you. Also... always use leaves and never teabags. Couple of teas that I particularly love: Irish Breakfast (what I drink everyday) from Adagio Teas. Adagio.com they have just released a Scottish breakfast, which I think I might have to try! They also have an English breakfast (not as strong as the Irish) and a decent Assam. If you send me your address via email - I'll send you along a sample. hugs jaydee

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's our first Paper Players challenge of 2018 and the fabulous Sandy has such a fun theme for us. Really... how much fun is a punny Valentine? I don't have that many sets that I can use..... but I looked through my stash and found an Altenew set that I had called "Vintage Teacup" and realized it would be perfect. Lou doesn't drink coffee.... but he has become a real tea aficionado. Of course, we love very different teas. :-) I like strooooooong, black, Indian tea. Lou tends to the green, jasmine, Chinese teas. I can... Continue reading
