--"CROSSFIT WAS MAKING ME FAT"-- This past weekend I ran into an ex-IACF Athlete. As always, the topic of conversation came up about crossfit. Now, the ensuing situation that I am about to speak upon has occurred at least a dozen times, but this particular conversation fired me up! As I approached the female I had noticed, right off the bat, that she had lost weight and became significantly thinner. I asked her, "Why did you stop doing crossfit?" and she replied, "It was making me fatter." Huh?!?! As most of you know me, I'm not the type to bite my tongue so I immediately put her in her place. Respectfully, letting her know my opinion (yet at times facts), laying it all out on the table. To make a long story short the interaction between me and her mostly comprised of me speaking and her bug-eyed, eyebrows up, open eared the entire duration. I had to go to battle for the one program that has single handedly changed thousands of lives, but more importantly explain to her why she was getting "CrossFit Fat" (CrossFat). I asked her what she had done differently now than while she was at CrossFit. Her answer was that she was eating better. Reeaaalllllllyyy? Hmmmmm, weird! That is what we preach day in and day out. We speak, at times, more about nutrition than we do CrossFit. We believe in eating right so that we may enjoy a longer, healthier, fulfilling life. At IACF/CFG/CFVB we provide nutritional lectures every couple months and nutritional sit-downs, which are more interactive, in depth explanations within the health spectrum. Combine that with CrossFit, the most elite training regimen, and you will feel and believe superhuman. People have the wrong mindset when trying to get leaner, per say. They feel as if they can bust their ass during the WODS and that will be the sole answer for them to get in shape. We all know, as we preach here at our boxes, that even though you give us one hour of hard work, you still have 23 to literally F*CK it all up. That's exactly what was happening to this particular ex-athlete of ours. She thought by performing a WOD she could go and "reward" herself with, for example, some pizza and ice cream for dinner. Something she would do on a regular basis, just switching up the lardish meal around so she wouldn't get bored. Yes, I too like that lard from time to time. Damn you CrossFit. Just Kidding (about the damn you, but not the lard from time to time). This in return only set her back and made her "Crossfit Fat." That's the problem with the majority of people. If one can dedicate two hardcore months being on a strict plan with no alcohol, soda, junk/fast food, etc. the results would be mind blowing. You will achieve the physique you've been craving and you will never want to revert back to your old days. Do not waste the coaches time, your fellow crossfitters time, and most importantly YOUR time. But hey, I get it, some of you do this for fun. I'm not talking about YOU who falls into this category. More power to you. I know you still come in and kick ass, but I challenge YOU to switch up your lifestyle just a little bit and you will see unbelievable changes. For the majority of the gentlemen who feel as if your getting too skinny because of Crossfit, another poor excuse I hear, that's a bunch of crap and maybe you just weren't able to overcome that fear of CrossFit. One, if your getting leaner we will immediately tell you "Your Welcome" and two, your not doing your part in keeping a nice size bulk if that's what your looking for. You can up your calories, take supplements, and do extra work on the side that is all a part of the CrossFit ideaology (Crossfit Football, SWODS, play other sports, etc.) My training regimen right now consists of crossfit wods, a good diet, playing other sports, crushing Chocolate milk, and sweating my ass off getting in people's faces at the Box. That is my prescribed training itinerary. Don't blame others for inconsistency, lack of motivation, lack of discipline, and unsuccessful trials. Sometimes you have to take a hard long look at the mirror and ask,"Do I Want To Be Better?" The day you answer yes is the day you can throw that F*CKING mirror away and completely change your life. -------------------------- peace, love, n law of burpees -DRE

Great Job Adrien, sick time! ------------------------------- Here are some tips provided by Freddy Camacho who is a badass crossfit competitor and owner of Crossfit One World. My favorite is of course tip #3: Here are some simple tips to be better at performing full range of motion movement within your workout: 1. Know what “full range of motion” means. Learn that first, then finish reading the rest of this post. 2. Concentrate more. Stop getting WOD drunk. Slow down a bit in your training and pay closer attention to your movement. Remember that you have to walk before you can run. 3. Have someone watch your movement and call you out on it when you suck. Make sure that you get someone who isn’t afraid to tell you that you suck. Make sure that you can handle being told that you suck. If you can’t handle being told you suck, you suck so please don’t compete. 4. Buy a cheap video camera and film your workouts. I train a lot by myself, so I do this all the time. It’s eye opening to watch your workout after you are done. I always armchair quarterback myself. It’s a great way to see your movement, and it’s an even better way to learn about what you are and are not capable of when you start to fatigue. This is one of the ways I learned how to more efficiently strategize my workouts. 5. Don’t try and PR every workout, and don’t treat every workout like it is a competition. I’m not saying that you should NEVER go balls to the wall, I am just saying don’t do it day in and day out. Not only will your movement get better, you’ll be less prone to injury. It’s also an easy way to avoid CrossFit burnout. Yes, there is such a thing as CrossFit burnout. If you haven’t experienced it yet, you haven’t been CrossFitting that long.

R.I.P Adam This W.O.D sucked. In the greatest way! Don't be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of. ~Charles Richards Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite. Or waiting around for Friday night or waiting perhaps for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil or a better break or a string of pearls or a pair of pants or a wig with curls or another chance. Everyone is just waiting. ~Dr. Seuss Every man dies. Not every man really lives. ~Braveheart As you grow older, you'll find the only things you regret are the things you didn't do. ~Zachary Scott When your life flashes before your eyes, make sure you've got plenty to watch. ~Author unknown, from a television commercial If you woke up breathing, congratulations! You have another chance. ~Andrea Boydston Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop to look around once in a while you could miss it. ~From the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off I'll do it later is a tough word to describe and use depending on the situation. Instead of thinking later, think right now and get it done. Live life with no regrets and fulfill any desire you may have right now. Now is the time. Don't watch it pass you by. - Dre CARPE DIEM

The caption on the pic is: "All Hail The Almighty Crossfit Gods." And No Cheech did not stand in the middle as this was going on. Hose, I can only imagine from the look of the pic what you are reaaallly trying to reach for as you stretch. "Procrastinator" *Alert* - 3 hours down

So I've missed out on day 48,49,50,51,and 52 of the burpee challenge plus today's which is day 53. That equals 303 burpees I have to catch up on. Was thinking of resting today, but I've got a new plan in store. Wod for tomorrow is: ------------ "Procrastinator" 30 Burpees on the hour every hour For 10 Hours ------------ Just knocked out 3 as we speak. I'll let you know how the day progresses.

Good shit Jose, that's a hell of a lot of reps! Damn you Juany, we have taught you different! You take one wod at a time. You cannot worry about the 2nd or 3rd until you have completed the first. You must set the tone for the rest of the day. If you build up confidence within the first wod, you'll feel like an f*cking animal for the 2nd and 3rd. I only stated you will feel pain for 2 minutes. They set a 12 minute time limit in disrespect towards you, not knowing that you will f*cking kill that shit! "Pain is temporary, Pride is forever!" 50 more on demand burpees for you!

Oh and by the way, 50 ODB's for asking that question on whether you should go Rx or not
1 reply
Very simple, you go Rx. It's a balls to the wall 500 meter prowler push and thats it! You've dealt with enough pain in here ever since you started so that's the least of your worries. It's up to you to decide whether or not you're going to allow the people next to you to beat you! The pain will only last about 2 minutes. When you're on that last 100 meters make sure you run like you've never run before bc you know your done after that. When finished walk away from that shit like your the f*cking man. Do not lay down on the ground, do not show the other competitors a sign of weakness. Represent!

Whose House?!?! That's right we proved it again! But this time with the help of CFG and CFV and damn it felt good. No matter where we are or who's performing or what the outcome may be we always leave an impression on others that states one thing: All heart. We go hard from the beginning until the very end, leaving it all out on the floor. We wod as if it's our last wod ever, because tomorrows never promised. It was great to see some of you actually get a feel for the competitors outside of our box. Now you know you can compete with the best of them and now realize that YOU are the one with the target on your back. I'll keep the target of the judges on mine for you. I know people might not always have the nicest things to say about us, but I know one thing is for damn sure; we will always get respect from those we go up against. Whenever you get the chance and see these athletes congratulate them for placing: Danielle, Antuanet, Jess R., Shelly, Karen, Rob, and Danny R. All their hard work paid off this weekend and it will only continue with great success. Other noteworthy performances: Jackie O., Vane D., J n M Mazz, Jeremy F., Jorge Sanchez, Webbie (dude took a nasty fall off the pullup bar, blacked out, and still got back up to post one of the best times), Roger A., Rich, and SupermanSteve. All gave everything they had and I couldn't be prouder! This weekend was a testiment to how important each second and rep is for your score and what we need to work more on. Most importantly I want to thank those of you that came out and supported us on Saturday. The picture does no justice with the amount of people that came out to watch us compete. I know they had better things to do on a Saturday so it made me proud to see the support we had from so many people. I can tell you first hand that the outcome of our scores were in great part because of you. I want to thank Crossfit North Miami Beach for hosting us in the Winter Wod. The turnout was great. Ask the athletes that competed this weekend what it was like, what they felt, how the wods were, etc. There is always something new to be learning within crossfit. That is why it is important to experience activities and challenge yourselves outside our box, as well. Examples: Yoga, The Stair Climb, The Mud Run, other competitions, etc. Expand your horizons and experience the new you. Believe in our program, Believe in your coaches, and most importantly believe in yourself. I promise you one thing, you will continue to grow and get better everytime you step foot into the box. There's only one way to wod and that's wod Hard! Who Am I? I Am A Champion! and Whose House? Our House!
