Sometimes it is really hard to make decisions when all of the options are really great. For example, we had a second photo shoot yesterday for the quilts that we will have patterns for. The pictures are gorgeous and I can’t decide which to use. So I am hoping you will help me! Will you vote for which one you like best? There are two different quilts/covers, so vote for each one. VOTING IS CLOSED!! THANKS FOR VOTING! To thank you for voting, I will give away a 10” stacker of Madhuri to one lucky voter. These are oversold from... Continue reading

I am always surprised at how fast Quilt Market rolls around. It is almost shocking. Even though it is all so overwhelming, I am so excited to go. I think this will be our most exciting market ever! I want to give you a little sneak peak into what we will be showing to stores in about two weeks…. I have to show this pic, mostly because I am in love with my pink velvet chair. And the Madhuri pillows on it! Madhuri is my newest line of fabric that will be hitting stores in the next week or two.... Continue reading

As we have been prepping for Find Your Lula (and 500 other things) I have been thinking about how fortunate I am to have such amazing people in my life that I can call on to be teachers for the retreat. One of the teachers is Missy Stevens. She is a dear friend and amazing jewelry designer. She will be teaching us how to make this amazing necklace at the retreat Each persons necklace will be unique to them. I love this idea because I love having things that mean something special. Missy is so great at putting pretty things... Continue reading

Well, I suppose it is about time that I post about my fabulous anniversary trip to Paris! I have been dreaming of going back ever since I got home. Well, ever since I got over the jet lag. We had the most marvelous time. It was beautiful, amazing, and everything you would expect Paris to be. I won’t give you a blow by blow because that would be long and, well, boring. So here are a few pictures and a little taste of what we did. Of course, we saw the Eiffel Tower. A lot. It was only five minutes... Continue reading

Mr. Fish and I are nearing our 15th anniversary. In fact, it is one month from today! 15 years ago we were married at a place called La Caille. It is an amazingly beautiful restaurant (if you can call it that) situated on a HUGE piece of property. When you arrive you drive up a winding brick road and with each foot you travel you are transported to the French countryside. Honest. I don’t know how they did it, but it is amazing. It is hard to believe you are still in Utah! Well, we went back this weekend for... Continue reading

I have been thinking a lot about last night’s post and I thought maybe I would add some prompts to help myself (any maybe you, too?) along the way. And since I want it to be fancy because fancy is kind of my M.O., here is what I came up with: May I present the prompt jar… I printed out my list of prompts (below), folded them pretty and put them in the jar. Each time I go to my “special place” to draw I can pull out a prompt to get me started. Here is what my prompts consist... Continue reading

Thanks for alerting me to my mistake! I have the same problem with where do I start. Sometimes you just have to start. Start with a line. Start with a circle. I also keep a file of images from magazines. Then I can grab the file and pull something out to inspire me. Remember, what you start with doesn't have to be what you finish with. A lot of times I just need ONE element from my scribbles to develop a fabric line around.

A blank canvas. Sometimes an artists biggest fear. Where to start, what to draw/paint……it can be really overwhelming. I am facing a blank canvas. With my latest fabric deadline met, it is time to look ahead to the next one and get started. I find myself in this same spot over and over again, looking for a new way to start, a new way to re-invent my style, a new way to appeal to the voice(s) in my head. These are the days of staring at blank sketchbook pages, spending too many hours on Pinterest, reading and re-reading my giant... Continue reading

Steph, that is what I went to school for (one of the times)!! I do love it. Especially when I can design in my own style and not what someone else wants me to do. I am a bit of a free spirit! But I would love to help you!!!

This month is my chance to realign my life. Fabric line #6 is complete and Flutter (fabric line #5) isn’t out yet. So there is a little lull for me right now with design work. My kids are in school (hooray!!), and I just wrapped up a major interior design project (more on that later). I don’t have any pattern design going on right now. So, as you can see, I have a bit of a break! I want to take this month to really ponder and evaluate my life and where I want to go. It is my time... Continue reading
