Earlier this spring the Cornerstone Masonic Historical Society has been selling raffle tickets with big ticket items, and its almost time to announce the big winners! To celebrate, we will be having a spaghetti dinner on June 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 at Historic McGarrah’s Stagecoach Inn on 300 Stage Road. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids. Rochester, New York has fallen on hard times, not unlike many of the cities across the nation. The Erie Canal, once a major shipping route, is now considered obsolete. Paul Carey of Carey Organ of Troy, New York refurbished our 1873 George Woods reed organ, shown on delivery day with Pa ul Carey conducting a final check. Help us welcome the new antique addition to our collection and hear it being played, and learn more about the history. Santa will be making his annual stop at McGarrah’s Inn on December 8th 2012, from 1-5 p.m. Children of all ages are welcome to visit and get a photo taken with Santa. Friends of McGarrah's Inn will be standing in for Santa's helpers, taking pictures and welcoming guests. Photos with Santa will be $10.00 and provided on the spot to parents. McGarrah’s Inn at 300 Stage Road, Monroe, NY, will be hosting the Monroe Historical Society’s 5th Annual Antique Car Show this coming Saturday, July 14th, 2012. In addition to the car show, Volunteers will be on hand to provide historical tours of McGarrah’s Inn. Sandwiches and other goodies will be available for purchase. For one day only, the Cornerstone Masonic Historical Society is hosting an antique road show. Bring your valueables to be appraised on the premises by professional appraisers for $5.00 donation per item. On hand will also be buyers that are interested in antiques. Historical Tours of the building will also be available from knowledgeable volunteers. Refreshments will also be sold. McGarrah's Stagecoach Inn is currently being renovated and we need your help! Shown here is Drew Diltz of DD Painting installing a restored window in the second floor of the inn. It’s our goal to have all 43 windows of the inn restored by the summer of 2012. Diltz explained that each window requires a different level of work to achieve its original luster. Recently we recieved a generous donation of a pedal operated organ by Michael Peters. The organ was manufactured by George Woods and Company in 1873. We would like to restore it to operating condition. Unfortunately, we cannot afford to pay a professional restorer, but we are a non profit and would be willing to write you a letter to acknowledge your donation of time, and would be willing to pay for supplies.
