I agree on the Green-Steam-Machine.. we have to take it easy on expectations.
Taking Stock: C's-Wizards home-and-home
After each game, we'll be taking stock in each players... and maybe coach's... performance. If we like what we see, we're buyin'. If we don't, we're sellin'. Or maybe we'll just hold onto our stock until we see more next game Rajon Rondo: He's here so much I'm going to make him part of th...
Awesome!
Red's Army Rewind: Fans salute John Havlicek
On April 9, 1978, John Havlicek played his last game before Celtics fans. How did they treat the legendary Hondo? With a roaring 7 minute standing ovation that will make the hair on the back of you neck stand up. I've never seen/heard anything like it. The best part of all, no hyped up introduc...
I would do the Atlanta Deal for Josh Smith. It would make this team instantly freakishly athletic for years to come with Rondo, Avery, Jeff Green, & Smith.
Your Morning Dump... Is Rondo's attitude wearing on his teammates?
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. CSN New England’s Donny Marshall — the former NBA player who covers the Celtics and does some color commentary for the...
Leon Powe anyone! I bet he would be cheaper and at the very least as effective.
Celtics pursuing Rockets Chuck Hayes
It's common knowledge that the Celtics are in desperate need of another big man. The Sporting News' Sean Devaney reports Houston's Chuck Hayes is their top target: Celtics are obviously looking for a low-cost, banger to put at center. Top target, I am told: Houston's Chuck Hayes. Would be a goo...
My Trade senario.
Trade Rondo for Chris Paul & hopefully with a sign & trade. This makes sense in alot of levels.
1. Chris Paul could win now
2. with KG & Allens cash coming off the books in 2012, we can sign Howard.
3. Howard & Paul want to play together
4. Boston has the "best" Player coach around so thats more attractive.
I would not trade Rondo unless its for Paul because he is a better point gaurd & if you trade him who else would play Point.

If for nothing else, Bird wins because of his atittude. He simply deeply hated the opponent especially Magic & the Lakers.
Ultimate 1-on-1 Finals: Pierce Vs. Bird
Bill Russell's run in this tourney came to an abrupt halt last week when he ran up against Larry Bird. Now, we have the matchup we anticipated. #1 overall seed Larry Bird vs. #2 overall seed Paul Pierce. This is an intense matchup. Their names sit next to each other in many of the Celtics'...
I care.. this will be fun to watch, especially they switch it up & its Different NBA players on the same time. Like Howard and KG playing on the same front line. That would excite me.
Pierce, KG, Rondo rumored to play in new summer league
Hoopsworld this morning reports a new summer league of only NBA players, including some of its biggest stars, is slated to begin in a few weeks. Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, Jermaine O'Neal and Glen Davis have all trained at Impact Basketball, which is putting on the league, and are...
Every positive thing Von did he negated with that missed dunk in which he prematurely celebrated.
I dont see why ppl really like him. He never really displayed he was a good shooter & sure he could jump, but he's not that great of a driver. Overrated!

Perk didn't inherit that attitude from KG, He's always been a in your face guy. As a matter of fact KG & perk almost got into it back when KG was with Sota.
Perk being Perk
Our old friend Kendrick Perkins is having a helluva time stirring it up in the Western Conference Finals: "Me and Tyson never got along. I'm serious," said Perkins, whom the Thunder acquired in a trade deadline deal with the Boston Celtics. "He don't like me, I don't like him and that's pretty...
I really dont see much in Avery Bradley. He almost seems like Tony Allen to me. He doesnt have the best dribble, Athletic, Good defender, & not the best scorer from what I've seen.

Call me crazy, but I dont really think it is that hard to look back. I didn't take the loss as bad as I thought. Maybe its because I knew we were to injured to win it all, but mostley because the Heat are a better team at this part of the season. All props to the Heat. I especially like the fact how humble they were, that was appreciated.
Pain.
Achilles pain, elbow pain, back pain, calf pain, ankle pain. Pain. It's a word Celtics fans have grown accustomed to all season. I really did not feel too nervous going into last night's game. I don't know what it was. Confidence? Cockiness? Reserve? I just felt ready to deal with whatever wa...
If i could give him a kick in the shin followed by a punch in the ear, it would make my year.

Fans go old school in serenading Youk
Via Red's Army contributor KWAPT comes this video by YouTube user Metstradamus from last night's Angels/Red Sox game. Youk strides to the plate and some slap-happy Sox fans realize that you can sub "Youk" in for "you" in one of the more recognizable sing-along songs of the 90s. I didn't see the ...
Lackey's a joke! He just really pisses me off. Thank god he pitched good.
Your Morning Dump...where Lackey complains even when he wins.
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. It's been two weeks since John Lackey's start was sacrificed after a rainout in order to get the Red Sox rotation back in order...
This is what I said before, with Dice-K your kind of rolling the dice (pun intended). He can pitch a gem from time to time, its kind of 50/50 or close to that. With Lackey he some hows manages to stay in a game for 6 innings & give you 6 innings of crap time after time. All while saying he had a pretty good game. Lackey is a joke... Dice-K is just a fucking tease!

KG finishes second, Rondo 5th in DPOY voting
Twitter / John Schuhmann: DPoY. 1. Dwight 2. KG 3. T ... via kwout I don't know about you guys, but I'm a bit surprised by this. I just figured people have written off KG's defensive impact and moved on. When Rondo can stay in front of guys and stop gambling, he'll win this award. Th...
With all that said I am glad there is a team that started 2-9 and won 95 games! I just hope it can be done in the East
The Sox are reminiscent of the 1991 Twins
The 1991 Minnesota Twins might not have had the total offensive talent that the 2011 Boston Red Sox have but there are some similarities that might make you feel better. The '91 Twins showcased names like the late Kurby Puckett, Chili Davis (now the Pawsox batting coach), Kent Hrbek, and a young...
I still dont think anyone has to gell aside from the pitcher and Catcher. To counter your argument. I think "most" players know their rolls & I def. think everyone on this team knows their roll. I dont think a batter at the plate is thinking of what to do with a curve ball because so & so is on deck. For instance I dont think Ellsbury is going to change his approach dramaticlly whether he's hitting 1st, 3rd, or 7th. He is still going to use his speed to get on base, its what he's done his whole life. Big papi isn't going to stop trying to hit home runs because he's hitting 8th vs 4th or 5th nor is he going to try and lay down bunts if he's hitting 1st or 9th. Now I do agree there are fundamental adjustments depending the situation in the game. I.e youk might have to bunt in the 9th inning of a game with 0 outs and down 1 to get a runner to 3rd, but that has nothing to do with "gelling" or team chemistry thats all execution.
The Gelling on Defense is not "alot" Scutoro and pedroia played together for a good amount of the year last year. Youk moving to third is just as good as beltre & Adrian at first is better or at the very least the same as youk. The only place you could say something on defense is left field with Crawford due to the Wall and Ellsburys inexperience with him, but thats not going to cause dropped balls nor is it the reason the sox are 2-9.
My point is the Skid is do to the horrible offense with runners on & the terrible pitching. Simple as that. I do not expect the offense or pitching to be as bad as they are now.

This makes no sense, I'm not buying this at all. Baseball is not like basketball or football where you depend on the team to gel. The only two who need to gel are the catcher and pitcher, other than that you hit on your own with no teamates help & for the most part you field on your own. Theres no real "team work" that goes on in baseball, its not like basketball when you have to opperate as one UNIT on defense or fastbreaks or like in football when everyone has to be on the same page just for one guy to get open. NOT buying this. But i do think the sox will get out this funk, just not because "there Gelling".

I can say sweep with Those two pitching. Even tho you might get a gem from Dice-K. You just know lackey will give you 6 inning of crap, but 6 inning non the less.

Confirmation: The Sox sold high on Craig Hansen
As if you had any doubt that Theo was right in moving Craig Hansen as part of the Jason Bay/Manny Ramirez deal a few years back, it can now be confirmed. Hansen, after years of injuries, has been released by the Pirates. Hansen started off the 2009 season with the Pirates, but only made five a...
I'm really not that worried about shaq. I'm certain He'll play in the playoffs.
Jermaine's locked & loaded
From Chris Forsberg we have video of Jermaine from this morning's walkthrough/shootaround. He says he was very winded during his first practice which was yesterday, but Doc still thought "he had a good day." I predicted early in the season that J.O. would not last the entire 2010-11 cam...

Enemy Chatter: Stop calling them the Big 3 please
I often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics after playing the Celtics. Here's a dose of 'enemy chatter' from Indiana. Can we stop calling Pierce, Garnett and Allen The Big Three, please? None of them are currently the best player on thei...
You could make the case that this is a product of a low down presence like Shaq. Even though my eyes dont say that recently .
Newsflash: Rondo is attacking the basket less
On Sunday morning, I asked for someone to research Rajon Rondo's shot selection (in the paint vs perimeter). Well... someone stepped up (Thanks John!). A quick look at HoopData.com reveals the answer: Rondo was taking 5.4 shots at the rim last year: This year, that number is down to 4.1. From ...
I will simply do nothing, because I never knew what to expect from him from game to game. I didnt know if i was going to boo him or cheer for him, so it's fitting that I just stand there and do nothing.
The Return of Gucci
This season, the Celtics welcomed-back fan favorite Brian Scalabrine and former assistant coach Tom Thibodeau. Both were given big ovations and nice video tributes on the Jumbotron. This coming Wednesday, former Celtic Tony Allen will make his return to the Garden. Now T.A. was the type ...
