Aww, another "king is dead" piece already. Shocked. Seriously, the standard for Federer unrealistic. So the moment Federer doesn't make the semis in a slam, what? He should retire? I can't think of one player on tour who wouldn't trade for Feds 2010 results so far....can anyone. Take the long view tennis media..please stop drafting the obits every five minutes. Write a piece about how he stunk up the joint, but spare us the knee jerk analysis.

Really enjoyed this :) Provides a bit of insight into player personalities. Used to be a big Petrova supporter so I know she's not an ice queen. Um, btw Bobby, 5’5” is not short. Ahem!!

Hmm, sentence missing something... "Didn't see the Caro match, but I'm envisioning GOLOVIN @ Miami a few yrs ago. Ai yai yai!!! :("

Bobby, that injury list does look daunting. Schedule management is key for a long season. Hopefully players on both tours will find a balance. Didn't see the Caro match, but I'm envisioning e @ Miami a few yrs ago. Ai yai yai!!! :(

The Schnydermania in SC is endearing. She's had some big moments, if this is her last year I wish her well. "I never really warmed to Patty. Always thought she was a space cadet, if you know what I mean." Yes I do!

I still have hopes for Gasquet no matter how improbable. Someone should really get the goods on Steve's winning % for his predictions. I know they're bad, but just HOW bad! MC setting is so beautiful, if I were there in person, I can honestly say I'd be happily distracted. Maybe next year.

Off you go Annie! I'll try to visit you at your post next week ;-) NP everything should be on tape, I'd be happy. Watching yesterday's Mad Men now. Not so wee here in Cali. I have another 45 mins ;-) I thought Pspace was routing for Murray. Or is it that he wants anyone to win but Rafa?! I respect your honesty Pspace. I'd be thrilled (and humbled) if Marat won. Neva gonna happen...

Annie - thanks for popping in with that report. You must be dead on your feet. AM - Nightmare. Is talking on your mobile while driving illegal in your part of town? Hope so. Why would Rafa winning the Open have any effect on this arbitrary GOAT debate?

NP Watching ESPN360. It's a godsend.

Pspace Pete's isolation was self enforced. He ate, lived, and breathed tennis to the exclusion of almost all else. I imagine his people skills were severely lacking way past the awkward teen years like most people. I don't know why he or his team thought that was nec, or normal for that matter.

Tres excited. Haven't been to NYC in a year, can't wait. Should be there for the QF on... JohnC true, personality plays a large part, but so does type of media coverage. Media was always lamenting about Pete being boring. Not nec his personality, but his style of play! Same media complained about Agassi's personality and dress. Now it's revisionist history... I respect Agassi for doing the hard work and coming back from the land of unfulfilled potential, but the imbalance is difficult for me to swallow.

and I thought night time was the right time around here... Just read Tignor's Agassie piece. It's puzzling the kind of reverence Agassi commands, in comparison to Sampras. I realise with 14 GS he gets a certain amount of respect, but the tennis media seem to place Agassi on a different, dare I say higher, pedestal then Pete. I just can't quite figure out why? Jewell are you still about? USO next Tues. 1 more week!!

Got it Pspace Looks like Andy's making short work here. As far as scheduling, if Rafa asked for Wednesday why get worked up. If he didn't request that late start, something tells me we would have heard it already.

Jacko you really traffic in these obscure tennis players don't you. Admirable considering they don't get much media. And btw there is no mango passionfruit frap here...watch your back ;-)

Also they have the first round stretched out through Wednesday. I'd like if they followed RG and have a Sunday start.. @Annie are you subject to any of the Twitter restrictions as well? (ridiculous rule btw)

@Annie that's a great assignment! Curious about the tourney sched. Master Ace may be of help Strangely enough of the USO site they have one men's Qs listed on Fri Sep 11. Friday is usually women's semis only. If this sched is correct, this would ensure that one player is on court 3 days straight. That would be a serious problem!
