Caro's off to a flying start as she breaks Marion. 2-0, Caro to serve.
Still Fishin'
Hi guys, Pete's not here right now (he'll be back Tuesday) but this is the place to discuss matches for the next few days. There's also Steve Tignor's latest mailbag offering and periodic Racquet Reaction updates, if you're looking for somewhere else to chat. And don't forget about The Pro Shop,...

Places,
Thanks! I always get the feeling, that I'm the only who fails utterly to see the brilliance of Scarface.
The Deuce Club, 2.18
by Jackie Roe, TW Social Director Hiya, TWibe. How is everyone doing? Who else besides me is celebrating the warmer weather and the upcoming 3-day weekend? Indian Wells is nearing, so I thought I’d start putting plans in motion for our annual TW get-together there. I’ll be in attendance from t...
Actually, that's 34-4 since april 2009, not august.

I hope to see Sveta back in the top 10 soon, where she belongs. But she'll have to fight for it tomorrow - after all, Caro is quite the Russian slayer.
2010 Caro vs. Russians 20-2
Since august 2009 it's a staggering 34-4 (in that period, she's lost twice to Zvonareva in 2010 and once to Dementieva and Safina)

Could someone please explain to me what makes Scarface a great film? Because I sure don't get it at all. In my book, that's just about the most overrated film ever.
Other than that, I'm a big fan of Al Pacino.
So it's Caro-Sveta tomorrow, that should be good. Kom så, Caro!

There have been a few memorable tennis moments in movies that otherwise have nothing to do with tennis.
Fletch comes to mind, he tries to teach a young girl how to hit (i think she was using a ball machine). I always loved Fletch, certainly my favorite Chevy Chase movies.
In Chaplin, Charlie (Downey Jr.) plays tennis with Douglas Fairbanks (Kevin Kline) while discussing how Charlie got some young (very young in fact) actress pregnant and that he's going to marry her. Great film!

"Have you noticed that Azarenka is playing without shrieking today? Very strange, must be a conscious decision. I like it."
Really? That's great news, would make it soooo much easier to root for her.
Won't Get Fooled Again
by Pete Bodo Rolling into Dubai as the newly demoted world No. 2, Caroline Wozniacki reacted to her situation in what seems more and more like typical Wozniacki fashion, explaining: "At least I won't get this question over and over again: 'How does it feel to be No. 1 without winning a Grand S...
Oh my, isn't Makiri just absolute bloody gorgeous?!!
Semi-Satisfied
by Pete Bodo What a (day and) night Down Under. Yesterday, I backed only one winner—Novak Djokovic. But what does it tell you in that learning of his straight sets win over Roger Federer, I was surprised. Conversely, when I watched and read that the women I had expected to slash their way to...
We're heading for a third set, I see. As much as I adore Makiri, I would really love for Flavia/Gisela to win a Slam.

Regarding her name, Li Na was just interviewed by the ever lovely Barbara Schett on Eurosport. The correct order to say her name is indeed Li Na.
Her english is much better than what you would usually hear from her in an on court interview, she was great. And then Barbara tried teaching her some German but with limited success.
Anyway - Kom så Caro!
Blink!
by Pete Bodo Things sure can change in the blink of an eye, although for our purposes it might be better to say "overnight." Before we parse the women's semifinal matchups, let's note two seismic events that occurred while most of us here in the eastern seaboard of the U.S. slept: Rafael Nad...
It always amazes me that (some) Rafa and Roger fans get along so badly, when Rafa and Roger themselves are on such friendly terms.
Sweating it Out
by Pete Bodo For those of you who have grown weary of the Roger vs. Rafa themes (the Fedal Wars, in the patois), how about if we return to something a little less controversial, like tennis' ATP/WTA gender wars? Actually, "gender" isn't event the correct noun, although common usage has trumpe...
Dolgo showing his hair on Eurosport to the lovely Barbara Schett. That's a whole lotta hair, no wonder he ties it up when playing.

I've gotta say that after the quarters, Li Na-Caro looks like the stronger semifinal. I'm putting my money on the winner of that one to win this tournament.
