So, due to circumstances, my kids ended up coming in to town for the last show, the re-launch of Elle in Australia. Girls in the media room... Girls dressed in their nicest dresses and cardis (which happen to be Leona Edmiston, because she makes beautiful clothes for little girls) meeting Leona, and she wanted to pose for a photo with them... I had been dressed in black all day but funnily, I had almost worn my old Morrisey and Edmiston rainbow silk dress that I had bought when I was still at school. I guess you would call that a... Nope. I haven't got many pictures fron the last couple of shows. On the Thursday, I found out my mother (who was looking after my kids) had been taken to hospital, so the last few shows were shot around some commitments, angst, and juggling. The good news is she is fine and dandy, and went home today (Tuesday). So here's the juice from a very un-fashionable angle... The most common remark around the photographers was in relation to how skinny the girls were this season - it was a particularly bony season! Not sure why. There was certainly not an... I was lucky to be in the Northern Territory for the campaign shoot, see the video from behind the scenes, so I was excited to see the show. Backstage... The brows, and Valentina - the model from the campaign shoot. I love this shot... Craig on hair and Carol on make-up, and both were there on the Bless'ed shoot in the N.T. The show. And I loved the Murray Fredricks backdrop (another salt lake freak). I followed up my interview with designer Maria Maung (in the car, driving through the outback - and no, not published yet) with a chat... Continue reading

By the time afternoon came around and I still hadn't eaten anything aside from a teeny tub of yoghurt at 7.30 that morning, I was fast on my way to becoming a vanishing elephant myself. We got to the (slightly) off-site show to find there were boys walking too, so there was no hint of any food at all. Not a jot. The boys got there first, and had wolfed it all down. Now folks, I'm going to have to come clean here. By taking the next shot, I ruined the whole show. No, they were not in the show... Continue reading

Kaftans in a Peruvian tent imported from Sweden (or at least that's what I'm told), with a token star in the very diminutive (c'mon, her mum is the uber-leggy, Jerry Hall) and (I wondered who the not so classy chick people were fawning over was, but now I have used way too many brackets in the one sentence, and it was one of those oh here's someone in make-up I'd better take a photo, but then I shoot and I go "Whoops" she's not a model surely - too short, kinda trashy - then a few minutes later "Oh hang... I was running late coming from the off-site Lisa Ho show, and only manage to get there in time for the most dreadfully lit backstage dressing area of the Runway. I love the lashes! Continue reading

Bless'ed Are The Meek showed this morning, but my pics won't be up until at least tomorrow. But, a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be on location in the Northern Territory, shooting behind the scenes and assisting the campaign shoot. I'm excited to share the behind the scenes video from then, and if you look carefully, you can spot me there.
VIDEO: Bless’ed and behind the scenes
More pics in a while.... Backstage. The lighting backstage at this year's venue is dreadful, and this hair/make-up area is the worst of the three that are used. The brighter side of the room is where the hair chairs are set up, with the make-up in a dimly lit area with unflattering overhead lights. Dumb set up. Look at the difference in these next two pictures. Same pretty girl, looking average in the make-up area... And then out on the runway waiting for the walk-through, looking beautiful... Backstage Super-sized lace-up sandals. It was a great look, but so labourious! Not shoes you could just slip into. In the olden days, no-one had anything to relieve boredom - at least, it seems like that now. Continue reading

All new, all fresh, all floral. If a change is as good as a holiday, then I am under the palm tree on a white sand beach with a cocktail. Fashion week has moved from the Overseas Passenger Terminal to Eveleigh Carriageworks. It's rustic and old, but it's filled with flora - from the pineapples on the centrepiece at this media table, to the grand, leafy arrangements in the bar - all set against the rough hewn backdrop of concrete and old wood. So far, I haven't had to do too much. I've only shot two shows so far, but... Continue reading

I do still, sometimes, get out, and I was really excited to be taking my kids to a couple of gigs recently. As a Christmas present I took them all to see Nick Cave, and for Evan's birthday I took him to see the Dropkick Murphys. So fun! Readers may recall my kids' passion for Nick Cave and their cover of the Mercy Seat from last year on the salt lake, so I was like a kid myself counting down the days to the gig at the Enmore. And then I found out Mark Lanegan was support! Honestly. Things don't... Continue reading

Troy was up first, and he'd been practising his smile on the way over. But it can be a different story when everybody wants you to smile for the camera lady. I think he's pretty cute, smiling or not! But I unleashed an inner rock star when I brought out Evan's old drum kit - he loved it! and like he was born to play, immediately started working on a rhythm, and repeating it. He was fantastic. Rock star... And all good rock stars need a jump on the trampoline from time to time. I snapped this shot (that I'm... Continue reading

There is a date written on one set of proof sheets - 19th June, 1989 - ten days before I left for Japan on my two month modelling contract set up by my old agency, before I joined Ursula's, before I joined Priscilla's. Sonny shot the pictures. Two different shoots, actually. I only remember us doing one, and that's because I kept a print from it in the back of my book because I liked it. Because my friend took it. How could I have ever imagined back then (or for all those many years between where we completly lost... Continue reading
