First, let me thank all of you who have put Country Sampler gift certificates on your Mother's Day list. It's so fun to meet your husbands, sons, daughters, and, sometimes, grand children! We had this young guy come into the West Center store and he looked kinda lost (the young guys usually do), but he bought his mom a $100.00 gift certificate -- that son rocks, huh??! I personally love gift certificates - it's like having free money, and when you've got free money to spend at the quilt shop - it's even better!! And while we're talking, I want... Continue reading

We have sooo many wonderful new fabrics in the shops, I feel like a kid in a candy store. Below is a beautiful fabric line called, Ambleside, from Moda ... Classic & fresh at the same time, with colors & prints that reflect the crisp breath of spring, Ambleside embraces an airy linen white, soft spring hues of duck egg blue, willow, blush, sunbeam yellow & is grounded with a cobblestone grey & a pop of rosy red ... ready to inspire you to create treasures for your home & those you love. (Okay, I didn't write that ... but... Continue reading

Boy-oh-boy, we've been busy girls this past week! We've got the Silent Auction up and running ... who knew we had so many retired models??! Each shop has close to 50 models in the auction - different stores, all different models up for bid. Stop by and get your number and let's start the bidding! But we've been working on other things too! I just received the proofs for our license plates for this summer's Row by Row Shop Hop. I think they look great! I talked about the Row by Row Experience in the spring newsletter, but if you're... Continue reading

Just a quick note to let you know that the spring edition of the long- awaited Country Sampler newsletter is out in the shops now! Stop by and pick one up soon - we've got tons of things going on this spring including a Silent Auction that starts on Saturday, March 14th. Here's the blurb from the newsletter (just in case you haven't soon by yet) ... It's been awhile since we've had a silent auction and it's amazing how many models we've accumulated in that time. Once again, they seem to multiply in the closets and cubbies here at... Continue reading

Well, this cold weather we've been having is certainly great quilting weather, don't 'cha think?? Have you been stitching up a storm? I've had a chance to finally get a little time to work on a couple of projects. At the West Center shop we got in a really neat line of fabric from Moda, called Mixology .... I knew I wanted to something with it - it was just so fresh and fun without being cutesy - and "Spice Drop" -seemed like just the pattern to showcase this line of fabric ... It's so easy and every once and... Continue reading

Tap, tap.... Hello ... hello. Anybody out there?? I know it's been awhile since I last posted, but I have been busy ... or at least preoccupied with other things. I've had the flu twice - and yes, I got a flu shot. Dang! I went to Phoenix for several days where we went ballooning and rode a segway .... first time ever for both. I can take them off my bucket list now. :) Did I tell you my cousin broke her neck jumping from a burning balloon in New Mexico?? Yup. It did give me pause, but I... Continue reading

I thought it was about time to show you a few of the quilts and displays we have for February. It's cold outside, but it's toasty warm inside with all these beautiful quilts and projects! First up is the front display at the West Center shop. See the quilt on the right? It reminds me of the little heart candy that we all had for Valentine's Day - the ones with little messages on them, "Love You", "So Cool", and sentiments like that. We ran out of the kits for it last week, but we finally got more fabric and... Continue reading

We're excited to introduce our newest block of the month .... A Prairie Gathering, from Pam Buda and Marcus Brothers fabric. Isn't it lovely??! As you can see, A Prairie Gathering is a two color, Medallion style quilt. There are blocks in the quilt, of course, but it really isn't a traditional block-of-the-month. During the year long program, you will be making parts of the quilt from the center out. By the third month, the entire center medallion is complete. In a few more months, the flying geese border, and checkerboard border are complete, with each subsequent border being completed... Continue reading

I posted this on our Facebook page, but I know not everyone uses Facebook (and vice versa, not everybody reads blogs) ... so I'm going to post it again here. Several weeks ago, at the West Center shop, we had a lady come in and purchase binding fabric for this quilt ... Isn't it sweet? She stitched her children's (or grandchildren's) art work into the blocks and it is really a family treasure. Lots of work! The strange thing is that she left the quilt at the shop, clearly by mistake, but has never been back to claim it. We're... Continue reading

We need to have a quilt row designed that represents the Heartland, Country Sampler, and the Row by Row H2O theme. Here's your chance to show off your quilt design talents. The winner will receive a $100.00 gift card to Country Sampler, full credit for the pattern, and the rights to reproduce and sell the pattern at the end of the... Continue reading

I have very little new to say today. Kind of the after the holidays, after inventory funk. Besides that, we are closed today because of the ungodly cold. There's a 20 to 40 below wind chill here in Omaha, the schools are closed, and I have a terrible cold that I've had for over a week ... big sigh. I did find this on Facebook though and thought it might put a smile on your face. I hope you like it. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL BORN IN 1930's, 1940's, 50's, 60's, 70's and Early 80's !!! First, you survived being born... Continue reading

Did you have a good Christmas?? We had a great one - it's sooo much fun when you have a little one to share it with ... Of all the presents Charlotte got this year her favorite was the one we bought for her Mommy and Daddy ... We bought EJ and Crystal this nifty fold up wagon for trips to the zoo and the park. It even has a canopy that can be attached to provide some shade, but Charlie was sure it was for her. We had to take turns hauling her from the kitchen, to the front... Continue reading

First, I want to thank everyone who shopped with us on Small Business Saturday last weekend! We had a great day and appreciate you coming out to shop with us. Although I probably don't say it enough, we know it's you - our wonderful friends and customers - that make Country Sampler a success. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I haven't posted a lot lately 'cause I've been dealing with some health issues. I was confined to bed rest for a couple of days in an effort to try and help some damaged nerves to calm down. I had... Boy oh boy, it's cold here in Nebraska. It's not usually this cold this soon, but there's some Artic blast thingy that's causing havic with a lot of the US weather. Seeww, to give us a little pick me up during this winter blast, I thought we'd have a much needed give-away. At Market, Ann and I get lots of little gifty-quilty thing from the various vendors. We've pooled our goodies together (including books, patterns, a little cut fabric, and some charm packs!!), and have come up with two swag bags to give away to two lucky people. Just leave... I've got a few more booths and projects to show you. Quilt Market is full of eye candy, so here's a few more to tempt you to start a new project! We were excited to purchase several patterns from the Shop Girls of Country Sampler in Spring Green, WI. We have a special bond with this quilt shop; not only do we share the same name and seem to like many of the same type of quilts, but every so often we get one of their fabric deliveries or they get one of ours! Here's a look at their booth... Continue reading

I thought I'd share a few booths from market. I don't take a lot of these pictures, I'm usually intent on the individual quilts -- but I do have a few to share with you. First up, is Laundry Basket Quilts. Edyta had a large booth and it's stuffed full of her projects - past and present - so I took a lot of pictures! I think we took patterns home of all her new patterns (two have to be sent to us, because her husband forgot to bring then, but the rest we've got in stock at both stores).... Continue reading

I know, I know .... I'm late in posting about Fall Quilt Market. I did try and take a few pictures to share with you though. It's always exciting the first day of market to walk through these doors ... We did start at row 1, but had to make a quick detour to see an awesome display of quilts from the Ruby Jubilee Celebration commemorating the 40th anniversary of Quilt Market. This exhibit was inspired by the 2011 Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts in New York. I missed that show (dang it!) and while the... Continue reading
