Boy oh boy, it's cold here in Nebraska. It's not usually this cold this soon, but there's some Artic blast thingy that's causing havic with a lot of the US weather. Seeww, to give us a little pick me up during this winter blast, I thought we'd have a much needed give-away. At Market, Ann and I get lots of little gifty-quilty thing from the various vendors. We've pooled our goodies together (including books, patterns, a little cut fabric, and some charm packs!!), and have come up with two swag bags to give away to two lucky people. Just leave... I've got a few more booths and projects to show you. Quilt Market is full of eye candy, so here's a few more to tempt you to start a new project! We were excited to purchase several patterns from the Shop Girls of Country Sampler in Spring Green, WI. We have a special bond with this quilt shop; not only do we share the same name and seem to like many of the same type of quilts, but every so often we get one of their fabric deliveries or they get one of ours! Here's a look at their booth... Continue reading

I thought I'd share a few booths from market. I don't take a lot of these pictures, I'm usually intent on the individual quilts -- but I do have a few to share with you. First up, is Laundry Basket Quilts. Edyta had a large booth and it's stuffed full of her projects - past and present - so I took a lot of pictures! I think we took patterns home of all her new patterns (two have to be sent to us, because her husband forgot to bring then, but the rest we've got in stock at both stores).... Continue reading

So let's get started with some new goodies from Market. First up is the new block of the month from Marcus Brothers and Heartspun Quilts, called Prairie Gathering ... As you can see, A Prairie Gathering is a two color, Medallion style quilt. There are blocks in the quilt, of course, but it really isn't a traditional block-of-the-month. During the year long program, you will be making parts of the quilt from the center out. By the third month, the entire center medallion is complete. In a few more months, the Flying Geese border, and Checkerboard border are complete, with... Continue reading

I know, I know .... I'm late in posting about Fall Quilt Market. I did try and take a few pictures to share with you though. It's always exciting the first day of market to walk through these doors ... We did start at row 1, but had to make a quick detour to see an awesome display of quilts from the Ruby Jubilee Celebration commemorating the 40th anniversary of Quilt Market. This exhibit was inspired by the 2011 Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts in New York. I missed that show (dang it!) and while the... Continue reading

We redid almost the whole wall, with lots of new models, so just to tempt you to come see us; here's our new line up! First up, these fun and fast self-binding baby blankets. These are so easy to make and without the need for binding or quilting, they're a great last minute baby gift. We've expanded our kids flannels too, so you have lots of prints to choose from. I heard today that there's only 20 days until Halloween - yikes! It's not like I have to do anything to get ready, it's just that it proves how fast the days are flying by. But, don't panic, Edith ... there's still time to make some adorable Halloween pillowcases for those special someones in your life! We have some oh-so-cute pillowcase kits at both stores and they're a snap to stitch up. What little witch or ghoul wouldn't want one of these, huh? Continue reading

You might not know that Country Sampler has a Facebook page - it's a fairly recent addition and our new BFF, Denise, made it possible. Of course, part of this post is a shameless plug to get you to stop by there and "LIKE" us. (I'm not sure why, but I hear that's important with Facebook.) Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/CountrySamplerQuilts The other reason for this post is to show you this amazingly funny photo that Denise posted recently. Since our Facebook page is relatively new, I figure a lot of you might have missed it. If you live here in... Continue reading

It's been a fabric sort of week here at Country Sampler 1 and 2!! Lot of new, beautiful fabric that's gonna make your little fabricholic heart go pitter-pat. (I know it sure made my heart skip a beat.) First up, is a new line from Moda and Barbara Brackman, called Richmond Reds. Now, this is "petting fabric", Edith. (You do know about petting fabric, don't you?? Petting fabric is material that is sooo beautiful that you hate to cut into it. Instead you just pet it as you're searching around on the shelf for the perfect material! You know what... Continue reading

Can you believe that September is almost over? Soon it will be time for witches and goblins and then ... Christmas! Big sigh. I guess I'm not ready to move on yet. Speaking of getting ready, do you remember this guy? If you're one of our many mystery quilters, he should look familiar. So it's time to remind you that our Mystery Quilt Party for 2014 is Wednesday, October 15th, at 6:00, at the West Center store. Finish up that quilt top, Edith, 'cause you only have about two weeks 'til it's time for the big reveal! Remember to call... Continue reading

I love 'em all and dots are seeww popular right now. Oh, and did I tell you we've got two sizes of dots? Yup. Now we just have to think of something great to do with them. Any suggestions?? Oh, and look what we else we've got .... ONE bolt of ... FROZEN fabric from Springs!!! Wouldn't it make cute pillowcases? It probably won't last long, so come on in... Continue reading

Well, I can't believe it's September - I know I sound like "old people", but summer seems to be slipping by waaay too fast ... and although I love autumn, I'm not too thrilled about what comes next. This is my day off though, so after I write this and finish the wash (ugh), I'm bringing out the pumpkins and fall garlands and decorating the house for the season. (I've already got my pumpkin scented candle going -- just to get me in the mood!) In my continuing effort to keep you up to date on all the needful things... Continue reading

I met with a gal yesterday about a marketing position with Country Sampler. Marketing is something I don't do well, I know this. After all, I'm a quilter and a Elementary Education major - not surprisingly, neither one came with a class on marketing ... big sigh. One of the things she said I should do is blog more often - it should be short and sweet, with just one or two topics. That way it doesn't seem to be should a chore and I'll blog more often. Of course, this isn't anything I didn't know (even without a marketing... Continue reading

Just when you thought there couldn't be anymore new Christmas projects ... I've got some more eye candy for you from the West Center store. (The Country Sampler elves were veerrry busy this summer!) First up is, "Tags of Christmas", a new pattern and kit for the holidays! You can't really tell the size from the picture, but when it's framed it measures about 6" x 24". We even have frames for it too! Pattern is just $9.50 and the kit is $31.98 and includes wool, fabric and five Valdani threads to complete the project. This cutie is called "Frosteez"... Well, I doubt if I'll get all our projects and displays into one blog post - the staff stitched a lot of really super quilts and projects, but I'll try and get a few in today and a few more later. First, let's make a stop at the Papillion shop. Although it's a little smaller than the West Center store, we've got it jammed packed with Christmas quilts, kits, patterns, and new books. Just look at this beauty, entitled "Good Tidings". It has a nice fresh look for Christmas, don't 'cha think? And here's a little closer shot of "Peppermint... Continue reading

If you frequent the West Center Store of Country Sampler, you know that Carol Avok has been the manager there for years - I don't know how many, but Carol has been with us since at least 2001. (I looked for a picture of Carol, but she's pretty elusive when it comes to the camera!) Anyway, Carol's last day is this Thursday. She's moving to Norfolk where her husband has a job with the local paper. We're going to miss her like crazy - she's always been the "go-to" person that helps keep the shop running smoothly (not to mention... Continue reading

I've had a couple of people email me asking when I was going to post some pictures and projects from our annual Country Sampler Christmas in July. Seewww, I finally did some uploading, alot of editing (I'm not really good with the photography thing), and I've got some pictures for ya! But first, let me send out a big thank you to everybody who came out and saw us last weekend for the big event. The staff and I work so hard for months getting ready for the seasons - selecting fabric, sewing, cutting, kitting, and packaging; not to mention... Continue reading

All the little Country Sampler elves are stitching, cutting, and packaging like crazy to get ready for the BIG event. We've got a couple more projects to quilt, but it's going along pretty well and I think we'll be ready for Saturday. Remember ... we'll be closed on Friday, the 18th, the revamp both the stores!
