It is with some sadness that I write to let you know that after 18 years, the Papillion Country Sampler is closing. We will be open for business as usual, on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. We will be closed Thursday, February 11th through Sunday, February 14th, to get ready for our BIG going out of business sale beginning Monday, February 15th. In some ways, it's kind of a merging together of the two Country Samplers. There are many things that we can transfer over to the West Center shop. Lots of the notions, some patterns and books,... We'll try and dig out on Wednesday, but I'm not promising anything yet! Hopefully, you've got plenty of stitching goodies on hand and you're ready for a cozy day of quilting! Continue reading

I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous new year. Thank you all for your support in 2015! The concern I have heard over and over again in recent months is that of quilt shops closing. The concern is real for all shops. The internet has not made it easy for any retail business. I know as avid sewers and quilters you hate to see this happen. There is nothing like seeing the fabric and "petting" it, to be able to grab something in a hurry, get some advice or help with our projects or enjoy sitting in... Continue reading

Did you guys hear the news for Row by Row next summer? The theme for 2016 is "Home Sweet Home". Geez, there's so many possiblities for that one. My first thought is a row of houses but I bet there's going to be hundreds of those. Hmmm... it may be time to get the old creative juices flowing again. Here's the official fabric for this year's Row by Row from Timeless... It's all so stinking cute we may have to have several bolts of each one, don't cha think? I can think of lots of patterns that these would work... Continue reading

Ginnie, Thats my smiling baby. Shes such a happy baby! Deb Cizek Country Sampler
A few of my customers/friends have asked me about my grandbabies, so I thought I'd add a few photos from Halloween as a little update. Here's my two girls ready for Halloween. Charlotte (just turned 2) was a bumble bee ... Baby Mac (Mackezie) went as an owl .... Since Mac is only 6 months, she just went along for the ride. However, Charlotte didn't really understand trick or treating either. She kept trying to give the neighbors her candy, rather that recieving it. Here they are back home just chillin' after four houses. Yup, just four. Mom said that... Continue reading

I found a new love in the quilting world - it's Aurifil’s Monofilament Invisible Thread, and it stitches like a dream. For years I've avoided invisible thread. It was never really invisible and seemed to always have too much shine for my liking. In addition, it was often difficult to use in some sewing machines - they just didn't seem to like it whether it was just in the top or, God forbid, you tried to put it in the bobbin. It was often too thick, too nylon-y, and reminded me of my Dad's fishing line. But not any more!!... Continue reading

We've got a bus trip planned, Edith, and you're going to want to join us!! Eight shops have joined together to create a two day quiltin' bus trip including shops in Nebraska (us!), Iowa, and Missouri. The cost is more than reasonable for two day and we're going to have seewww much fun! You can sign up at either store, although the bus leaves from the Papillion shop this time. Think of it kinda like summer camp for the kiddos, except it's fall and the girls are going shopping! What could be better??! Sign up soon, seats are limited!! Continue reading

I've got more photos for you today! This time it's the Papillion shop and all their gor-ge-ous quilts! No, really. The shop is full of inspiration and I was awed when I went and checked it all out … the girls really outdid themselves. Seewww, how about a little fall and Halloween eye candy?? Here's the double bed, decked out for fall. Rich fall colors and a design that would look great on a bed, tossed on the couch, or hanging on the wall... And behind it is this beauty. The photo is a little funky as far as color,... Continue reading

First, let me give a belated but heartful thank you to everyone who stopped by the shops last Saturday and made our Christmas in August a big success! It was so great to see so many smiling, quiltin' faces! But I know that not everybody who reads the old Country Sampler blog has a chance to visit us, so how about a little tour? I thought we'd start with Country Sampler West Center and our autumn and Halloween display. So let's begin! First up is a couple of pics as you walk in the door ... I got this fun... Continue reading

Two important notes today. First, we will be closed on Saturday, July 4th, for Independence Day, but we'll be open on Sunday, July 5th. Secondly, we've got a Row by Row winner at the Papillion shop. Amy DeFazio, brought her finished quilt into the shop and it's a beauty!! Amy used eight of the Row by Row kits (Can you see the Omaha row at the top and the Papillion snowman row at the bottom?) and several license plates too. And, for that beautiful quilt and for being the first one to bring it into the Papillion shop - she... Continue reading
