I have set you some takeaway homework for the holidays, you can choose the tasks to complete. I have based them on the areas you said you found tricky. There are a mix of fractions, percentages, area, perimeter, time, shape, coordinates, times tables and data handling. I will be able to check on line to see how well you are doing. Accessing the takeaway homework. Go to the school website, click on online tools, then click on interactive resources. Log on then click on class four maths. You are ready to choose the tasks you feel you need to work on. I am expecting you to complete at least five... Posted with Blogsy Continue reading

We have been looking at persuasive writing this term. The children have used the power of pupil voice to create their own pupil prospectuses. They have produced outstanding work. Here is a flavour of some of the things they said... "Move forward as a pupil, as a team, as a school... As Porchester Junior School" " this school allows children to do what they are most interested in and furthermore it allows their voice to be heard with pupil voice" " Porchester is currently run by the headteacher, Mr Cullen but is not just about the head teacher it's about the whole school because this school is a team. A team that helps each other in everything we do. " " Porchester is a brilliant school and pushes children to do their best in everything they do" " This school allows pupils to have fun but learn at the same time and they learn something new in every lesson. We have amazing staff that help children to learn and improve in all genres." " This is a great school because all staff are kind and helpful. All children are friendly , kind and welcoming." " School dinners are freshly cooked in the kitchen by our wonderful cooks" " we have a smile team ran by pupils to help children in the playground be even happier than they already are." I am so proud of you class four, you are all inspirational. A huge well done. :-) Mrs I. Porchester Junior School... from Porchester Junior on Vimeo. This term we are exploring forces in science. Today the children measured the force an object created. They found out that a force can be measured using a force meter. The children found out the bigger the force applied, the longer the spring stretches and the bigger the reading. The unit of force is called the Newton and the symbol is N. What is a force? Can you see it? What can a force do? Posted with Blogsy Continue reading

We have had a very busy and exciting start to the term. We have done lots of " getting to know each other" activities. We have complied a class four contract and we have started to decorate our classroom. This term our Literacy and Topic work are linked to World War II. We have started to read Carrie's War, a lovely novel about two children who are evacuated during the war. My personal highlight of the week was J. J shared his phenomenal knowledge and his families war memorabilia which included deactivated shells, medals, books and part of an army uniform. For me this was a super start to our topic, I cannot wait to start it properly next week. A superb week class four well done. Posted with Blogsy Continue reading
