Wow, this is a terrific dress! When you said childhood bedsheet, I didn't know what to expect... this is incredibly fun. :)
Long Time Lurker, First Time Post
Hello Bloggers! I've been unofficially participating in WR and eating up your fabulous contributions for months, but only recently took the official pledge. Here's my most recent refashion, my graduation dress! It began its life as one of my childhood bedsheets. It started out from a Simplicity ...

What stunning pieces! Just beautiful.

Here are some wall hangings I made for my Fashion and Textiles degree. They're made from recycled fabric/garments and my top secret felting technique. More pictures on my blog.
What a cute dress! I love the stripes and the ruffles. :)

Remember when I bought a bunch of fabric at a warehouse and thought I was cheating? :) I've since learned that it isn't breaking the rules to buy fabric, (YAY!) so here is a little something I made with my warehouse fabric! (2.99/yard by the way, not too terrible!) I love it, but I also ke...
My boyfriend is the fountain pen collector I'd made this for. He has a number of pens he's gotten over the last few years (primarily fairly inexpensive ones), including a couple by Lamy, a couple by Pelikan, and a vintage Parker 51 that I managed to get him on Ebay for a pretty good price...

Hi everyone! So I actually resigned in January for four months, but have been pretty lax on my posting. I'm currently a graduate student working on my master's thesis, so have been rather busy. I have been doing really well with the not-buying-new-clothing part of the pledge, though I have fo...

Ooh, I like the zig-zag stitch idea. I'd patched one worn pair by pinning denim to the inside then sewing around the patch and a few times across it, but using a zig-zag would actually capture the old threads rather than just having them loose over the new patch. Thank you!

Happy Independence Day weekend, for all of you from the States! This week, I took some time going through my closet and figuring out the things I've stopped wearing... then hopefully I can do something with them to make them wearable. So this skirt into shirt was the first project I tackled. ...
A beautiful piece! I love the detail of putting the pretty sheet border at the bottom of the dress. Definitely makes it feel that the fabric was printed for this outfit, rather than repurposed...I'll have to look out for sheets with borders now.
Hello Internets!
I just wanted to introduce myself and show a few refashions I've done in the last month. My name is Rachel. I live in Southeast Virginia with my husband and my dog. We're in the process of moving into a townhouse a few miles down the road, but I'm still stressin' like we're leaving for space ...

My degree will be in Media Arts and Sciences...though that's kind of a catch-all term, as there's a ton of different kinds of work being done by various research groups that are part of the program.
In my research, I'm mostly working on wearable items with electronic sensors that can pick up performer gesture and use that to inform music in some way. For a concrete example, one of my recent projects just got written up at http://createdigitalmusic.com/2009/06/22/maker-faire-music-vamp-and-glove-controlled-vocals/. It's not the best video (so noisy at Maker Faire!), but basically this shows a glove a singer can wear that lets her "grab," extend, and manipulate a note she sings, so she can accompany herself. It's fun stuff, if kind of crazy.

Hi everyone! I too am a brand new member, having just taken my first two-month pledge. I found this community a few weeks ago and was incredibly inspired by the wonderful work that you all have been doing (nope, haven't been spending far too much time reading the blog archives, why do you ask...
