I'm over the moon and filled with happiness to make another sweet announcement here! We are so thankful to our God for another beautifully answered prayer. He has blessed us over and over and we will forever sing His praises.... And... today I am 5 months along in my pregnancy and can confidently say.... Continue reading

Target's Threshold Wood & Brass Finish Bar Cart Oh the things you can find on clearance at Target! I had debated in the past about whether or not to add this bar cart to my home but always ended up passing on it.... until yesterday! I noticed the red clearance sticker on top and when I saw the price I knew it was coming home with me! The cart is regular $129.99 but it's clearance tag was $64.98! So with the discount using my Target card the total was $65.43! Now, what to do with it??? We aren't drinkers so... Continue reading

It's 5:00AM and my mind is wide awake. I've been trying not to think of this for weeks. This weekend that starts tomorrow. This weekend that I'll spend so many hours away from my baby. Tomorrow she'll be 21 months old. This post will sound so dramatic and maybe devastating and the truth is - to me, it is. My husband and I have a seminar that we've been planning to attend for weeks. While I very much want to go and enjoy this time together with him I'm terrified to leave my daughter in the care of, I'm sure,... Continue reading

After we took the Christmas decorations down this year I was anxious to get started with spring decor (and Valentines, and Easter, etc). The days and weeks after Christmas have always been a bit dreary for me. No more Christmas lights. No more beautifully wrapped presents waiting to be opened. The trees are so bare and the wind still stings. But this year was different. We've had a lot to be thankful for (as always) and this year I made a conscience effort to stay.... happy... through all the changes listed above. It's worked as I've bought some greenery, fresh... I'm sitting at my computer uploading over 1400 pictures off my iphone, maybe eating too many homemade pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, and possibly pressing "purchase" online more than once. While uploading the pictures off my phone I clicked on this screen shot I'd taken of something that crushed me then, and still crushes me now. In a good way. It was from a She Reads Truth post on instagram. I for one have been through many devastating experiences in my life that's taken almost all I had in the moment. My family has experienced the deaths of our dearest loved... Continue reading

I may have gone a little lot overboard on the Christmas gift buying this year. There are just way too many precious things for little girls out there! In my defense it is only her second Christmas and I can't wait to see the excitement on her face as I watch her tear open her presents! I've loved Calico Critters since I was little and still have a few from my childhood. She may be a little young (18 months) but I started her collection off early to make sure she had them to play with now and as she... Continue reading

The past week or so when I've been out shopping I've met a few sweet and beautiful elderly women. One dressed warm one evening at the grocery store looking for escargot for her cat. In tomato sauce. We never found it. She was appreciative for my standing on tiptoes to look through the cans and later I spotted her in the meat section and asked a favor of her. Instead of pointing in the direction I needed to go she left her cart in front of the meat and walked me down a few aisles to find my item. She... Continue reading

Our October was filled with admiring the changing of the leaves and enjoying lots of family events. We spent chilly early mornings in the stands watching football games, a hot afternoon at Oktoberfest eating and watching the kids ride rides, and a day at an awesome farm going down slides, playing games, eating candy apples (YUM), talking to the animals, and picking pumpkins. Our Bunny LOVED the rabbits at the farm (how fitting) and got to see a mama pig feed her hungry babies. We spent days in our normal routines like our traditional family lunch at Five Guys every... <> I've been reading Angie Smith's blog for quite a while. I have all of her books and recently ordered her Audrey Bunny book for my daughter. Her video alone moved me to (heavy) tears. I can't imagine, knowing her precious story, how the book will impact me as well. I can't wait to receive it. <> I ordered this darling growth chart for my daughter the other night. We LOVE bunnies! <> Finally signed up for Emily's monthly printables. Time to organize myself and my family! (LOVE her October design... A great time to sign up!) <> I kept... Continue reading

1. A letter from my Nana I received in the mail after my daughter was born. My Nana has since gone to be with Jesus and so I framed her sweetest letter on my nightstand. This tiny handkerchief was an item I'd chose of hers to have after she'd passed. 2. My Graylyn L O V E S my desk. Needless to say its surrounding area is always a bit messy with markers and papers strewn. But she loves being busy in it. 3. I'm usually not a fan of snake decor and sometimes go back and forth about a... Continue reading

This post is just a little combination of everything. It fits into 3 of my favorite categories 1) favorite things 2) bits + pieces, and 3) "home sweet home." All of these photos were taken in my bedroom. 1-3) That inspiration board hanging over my desk was a find from Homegoods. I loved it so much I bought two. The other is waiting to be hung in Graylyn's bedroom. I have only pinned things I dearly love so far. A copy of a polaroid I took of my niece, Emma, a few years ago. Love notes from my favorite fella.... Continue reading

I recently made this tomato soup recipe I found via Pinterest which led me to Christy's blog, The Girl Who Ate Everything. I'll be honest and say towards the middle of the cooking time I almost dumped it as I taste-tested it. I'm so glad I didn't because after the last ingredients were added and I served my family for dinner, it was DELICIOUS. The flavors had come together and it was the perfect tomato soup recipe! It's definitely a saved recipe that I'll make again and again. My husband made grilled cheese to go with it, (of course). I... Continue reading

Our July looked a little like this.... We celebrated birthdays, both ONE and SIXTY. We ate a lot of cake. We watched fireworks well into the night on the 4th. We spent a wonderful week with family at the beach. It was also Graylyn's first time at the ocean so that made it extra special. We celebrated (again) Graylyn turning O N E. (Oh, my heart!) July was a sweet, sweet month of making memories for our little family. We love this life together so very much. Continue reading

instagram @magnoliaqueen 1. Gifts started coming in the week of her birthday. This was one of my favorites. 2. She insists on holding directly on to the cart at Sam's club. Only Sam's club. What's up with that? It's the only place her Daddy always pushes the cart. It's the only thing I can think of. 3. Playing in her toy box. 4. Watching Sesame Street with her baby. 5. A yummy new dinner. Roasted Cabbage Wedges and Chicken 6. The night before my daughter turned 1. 7. Our sweet neighbor left a birthday gift at the front door the... Continue reading

I started doing CrossFit with my husband on Monday. He has been doing the workout in his home gym setup and asked if I wanted to join him. I have not worked out in... I don't know how long. This has been so rewarding. I LOVE working out with my husband. #1 It's easier to have a partner (especially your awesome husband) #2 Watching your husband work out is hot #3 You can't easily find a good enough excuse to skip a workout when you live with your personal coach. Not that I want to skip out. I wish we... Continue reading

Graylyn's FIRST BIRTHDAY is this week and I got some input from other Mommies about what their must-haves were for a little girl's first birthday and some of these were mentioned. The others are things I've been waiting forever to buy her. *Like that beloved Fisher Price Chatter Phone that she will probably have no idea what it is because I am quite sure in her first year of life she has never seen a REAL phone. These are our favorites we've purchased so far. 1) B. Toys Zany Zoo Wooden Activity Cube. I LOVE these bright and colorful toys... Continue reading

"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013." We took a walk to a swingset this weekend and let Graylyn swing for the very first time in her life.
