Kids table is ready - check. Adults table is set - check. The tables are set. The fridge is full and it's the calm before the storm. Now is the time to sit and be thankful. Half the family is coming tomorrow. Both of our moms are with us another year and we are so thankful. Our girls and their families are with us and we are so thankful. Some of our siblings will be here and some won't. And of course our Marine is away. Very far away. But we are thankful. We are always thankful. We are thankful... Continue reading

We are now on Fall break and preparing for Thanksgiving. So much to do: gather the family for Thanksgiving, start Christmas shopping, fun with the grandchildren, time with mom, trip with friends, tidy up the yard before decorating, get organized, and oh yeah the many, many special orders for gifts. Do we ever stop. I hope not. Life is too beautiful. I need to take a breather and soak in all the wonders and beauty of it all. Thank you God for the many gifts of all I encounter every single day. So many wonderful people in my life. I... Continue reading

I love celebrating Christmas. I love celebrating the birth of Christ. There is so much to celebrate, so much to learn, so much love to share. It is my time for peace. I spend so much time preparing that I do not enjoy it until it is finally here. I'm sure you can understand as a teacher and then as a business owner we are pulled and prodded. That does not even include being a mother and grandmother. When Christmas finally gets here and no one is pulling, I can enjoy. I can enjoy the calmness and togetherness that the... Continue reading

All Saints Day by William Adolphe Bouguereau How odd it may seem for someone to say Happy All Saints Day. I think it is a wonderful thing. I love praying to the saints and teaching them as the perfect role models. They did not lead perfect lives but they all loved God and Devoted their lives to him so I say to you, "Happy All Saints Day". Continue reading

When I first entered my Pre-K classroom, I could not believe it. It is an old house. It is precious. I knew right away that I could make this so me and have a wonderful time making it all about Pre-K. Right now I am in the process of making 20 child size chef hats. I also made a trip to Lowes to purchase materials for a tee pee. The Teepee will be my reading corner. I promise to show you when I am finished with it. It will hold a glittered chandelier of coarse. It will be the perfect... Continue reading

It seems like forever since I posted to my blog. I am so sorry that it has taken me so long. I found out at the end of July that I would be switching schools and grades. I have been so busy preparing that I was at a loss for words with blogging. With the beginning of the new school year, training employees, and preparing for our biggest show of the year I can honestly say that for the next month my blogging entries will be scarce. Please join us for Tinsel and Treasures. I am preparing beautiful new pieces... Continue reading

I found a beautiful new blog today. I know that you will enjoy it. http://sethadamsmith.blogspot.com/2011/03/mother-teresa-and-spiritual-hunger.html Many prayers were answered this week for someone very special. Thank you Mother Teresa for giving us guidance. Sometimes the answers that we are searching for are right in front of us. Mother Teresa's Version of The Paradoxical Commandments People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and... Continue reading

I will be doing a trunk show at the beginning of July in someone's home in Carencro. I don't want to mention names without permission so I will leave it at that. I will be bringing a variety of items. I have been working particularly on jewelry. You saw one of my pieces last week with the antique pearl collar. Here are a few other items that I have been working on. More old cameos to come. PAX Continue reading

Today we as Catholics celebrated the Solemnity of the Corpus Christi. The body and blood of Christ can be received every time we receive the Eucharist. Father presented it so beautifully at mass today. The Eucharist is not a symbol of Christ. It is Christ and it is his gift to us. Anima Christi Soul of Christ, make me holy. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, fill me with love. Water from Christ's side, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. Good Jesus, hear me. Within your wounds, hide me. Never let me be parted from you. From... Last Wednesday I showed you my slip cover that I completed and I told you that I was going to cover an ottoman to match. I completed the set Sunday evening. The ottoman cover was completed in one evening. I did put piping on the ottoman and not the chair. I did not have cording available when I started the chair and was anxious to begin. If I had to do it all over again I would probably use piping on the chair but I love it just like it is. I am very pleased. I hope you enjoy the... Continue reading

Since today is White Wednesday I will share with you my project for this week. Sunday evening I started cutting out pieces of drop cloth to cover a chair that I have in my den. It is a beautiful toile fabric that is very light in color and to extend the life of the fabric I decided that I would make a slipcover in drop cloth. I did watch the tutorials from Miss Mustard Seed. They were so helpful. I could not have done this without her help. Because of the arms I did have to do things a little... Continue reading
