I know exactly what you're saying. My husband is a 47 chinook pilot currently deployed to that far off sandy and very hot place. Over the last few weeks I'll get an email or a phone call they've were shot at again and had to make a hard landing, but everyone is ok. Now I jump out of my skin when the doorbell rings. There are days when it's hard to choke back the tears to stay strong for my 3 girls. Then people are fussing about how stressful their lives are after spending an entire weekend on the lake with their husband and kids, while there are these 31 families whose lives were completely ripped apart and will never be the same. Some people just have not got a clue knowing how stressful life could be. But isnt that one of the luxuries our husbands are fighting for? Continuing to hope and pray for the safe return of all our military members.

It's summer and I love being outdoors but I also enjoy getting lost in baking and decorating cookies. There is a great tutorial for them here at the Sweet Adventures of SugarBelle Then I made these too! Really fun and so easy!!! I plan to make these for upcoming birthdays and classroom parties! She's got a great tutorial on these too! Other than that we're just keeping busy, playing lots and enjoying our summer! XoXo Continue reading

We went to our favorite nature trail this afternoon. Ate lunch and went for a 2.5 mile bike ride. The big girls had fun. Kara not so much. She whined, grunted, fussed, and screamed the whole gosh darn way. Then everyone started getting achey and cranky so we called it a day. Continue reading

I found a local farm where you can go pick your own strawberries! We've been anxiously awaiting the notice that the berries were ready. It finally stopped raining and warmed up so the picking season has started. The girls were all excited about going this weekend! We were there for about an hour start to finish. Filled our basket full of fresh vine ripened strawberries. The smell was pure heaven. So much fun! We are looking forward to doing it again next month with raspberries :) I canned my first jars of jam this morning that is out of this... Continue reading

Only 2 weeks left until summer vacation. Nothing planned. Walking as much as the weather and time allows. Needing to cut calories to shed this winter chub! Hungry all the time. Starving feels more accurate though :p Still coughing. Enjoyed a visit with Mr M's brother and his family last weekend. Talked to Mr M on the phone a couple days ago :) Loving that the days are warming up and sometimes considered "hot" by many (not by this desert native of course) Yet still wanting summer to already be over so Mr M can come home. Just in time... Continue reading

Another busy week behind us and right in the midst of another one. This last week Nikki had physical therapy a couple times. Rebeckah had her spring concert and we registered Kara for kindergarten. Haven't heard much from Mr M which always weighs heavily on my heart. I suppose we were spoiled being able to talk nearly everyday. Somewhere in the I picked up some miserable ick which kept us home the first two days of our long weekend. Memorial day we got together with my battle buddy and her two cute kids then spent the day in Alexandria Bay!... Continue reading

I can't beleive it's already been a month since he's been here and two weeks since he left. We just jumped right back into the groove we were in. Back to school, homework, laundry, physical therapy, dr appointments, and just everyday stuff I'm certain no one wants to read about. But we're okay just kinda going through the motions. The weather is finally warming up so we're outside when it's not raining :) It's been a really good thing. The girls continue to grow and change right before my very eyes. Still keeping up with my Project 365. Mr M... Continue reading

it was time to say goodbye again. The airline was so wonderful and gave out gate passes to the family members of a soldier. So we got to stay with him until he literally got on the plane. <3 She was determined to go with him....but he did stop and turn around to wave back at her... She only cried a little when she woke up...quietly saying she didnt want daddy to leave, but then she grabbed her daddy bear and we faced the day. After Mr M boarded she wanted to stay until the plane left and we watched... Continue reading

We were together again without missing a beat. It was just like the last 6 months disappeared and he'd always been here. I can't begin to describe how much we missed him, his funny little antics, loving arms and helping hands. It's been easy for me to step down and let him help. I've stepped back and let the girls have time with their dad even though I wanted him all to myself. Oh what a sight it is to watch your children interact with daddy. They just glow. So to put it mildly we are enjoying this short time... Continue reading

It's rather miserable up here in the North Country for Spring Break. Cold. SNOW. Wind. Rain. BOO! So we've been making our own fun indoors with a Spa Day... Nikki started Physical Therapy this week and is hoping to try out for cheer this summer, at the very least be ready for the swim team next fall. As the therapist was doing the evaluation it was obvious she's got something going on in her neck that is making all those muscles very tight and stiff. Again so very thankful to finally find a dr to do something other than write... Continue reading

just like that! I always have intentions of blogging more but before I know it the day is over and I'm exhausted! Nikki is doing better this week. We got her CT CSPINE and MRI done. She thought it was really cool and enjoyed looking at the pics inside her body! Next week we start physical therapy. Gas is now over $4/gal in the north country so I go out even less these days but when you gotta take the kid 30 miles for PT you gotta do it. When is it going to stop?!? I don't really think of... It's been an odd week, but yet another week under our belt and yet another week closer to seeing Mr M. We started the week out cold and gloomy with snow and ended it with lots of sunshine in the mid 50's! It's finally starting to feel a bit like Spring. Last weekend was National PB&J day, so the girls wanted to celebrate with a carpet picnic because it was much too cold and windy to enjoy it outdoors. :) Nikki's neck has continued to bother her and went from just a couple days nuisance managed with tylenol to a... Last week the girls were sick and didn't get a chance to share Beckah's first concert. She was so nervous beforehand but excited and happy that I stayed to watch. Usually I just drop the kids off and pick them up since I tend to freak out in large crowds. HA! But I endured the flatulance from the dude sitting behind me (he was proud of it too *gag*) and the hacking people squished next to me to watch my girl shine. Beckah has worked so hard practicing and memorizing the music. In fact this week there is an optional... Continue reading

Every year in upstate New York all the maple producers get together and invite the public to see how they make maple syrup. It's typically the last two weekends in March, just as the temps warm up during the day and drop at night. Oh what a lovely experience it is. Each producer does things differently so it's interesting to see the different techniques. However they all give off this wonderful buttery sweet sappy aroma as they boil the sap down to syrup. This year we visited Swiss'er Sweet Maple and then Burnham's Maple. Both were incredibly informative and had... Continue reading

and other ramblings from the week. This week my friends sweet little boy turned one. I was tickled she asked me to make his cake. She picked out Jungle Buddies party ware. I really had fun doing this cake. Really ever since I altered my buttercream recipe things have been going soooooooo much smoother and easier with significantly less to no frustration at all. Yay! I got new glasses this week! After 5 years it was time. It's so nice to be able to see through clear lenses again :) New profile pic! Made more pretty flowers! And delightful handmade...
