I love the fireworks story, by the way, and I don't think I will ever get tired of it. I feel very much the same about all of your work, hence waiting patiently for Memories of the Future vol 2 and the accompanying Memories of the Futurecast.
I always look forward to seeing the gadget at the bottom of my screen telling me there is a new post on the blog. I've been a constant reader of the blog since 2009 and and will continue to read as long as you continue to write...anything lol.
BYW, I would love a new installment of Radio Free Burrito for my, and my iPod's, listening pleasure *hopeful face*
Also, I have the same cat issue. Toss in, cat sitting on your head while you sleep and it's a mirror of my night. *sigh*
tamed by the purr of a jaguar
Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post. I had no idea so many new readers were visiting my blog; I'd just assumed that the Internet had gotten bored with me, moved on to whatever the new hotness is, and I was writing for the few, the proud, the geeky who had been here forever. Knowi...
I know you are super busy, but I remember you saying you were working on Memories of the Future Part 2. Any idea when we may see it? I'm itching to read it and add it too my collection of wilw books.
shameless self promotion
It is said that an artist's works sell as well as the artist promotes them. I struggle with this reality, because while it's simple and enjoyable for me to link to my wife's friend's store, or my friend's wife's Etsy shop, it feels weird and kind of gross to me when I promote my own stuff. But I...
I really loved Toy Soldiers! I did own in on VHS until the VCR ate it a few years ago. I finally tracked down a copy of it on DVD, and even mentioned it in an (unpublished) book I've written.
Joey was definitely one of my favourite parts of the movie. Hmm, now I want to watch it again, off to the DVD shelves...
regarding dangly ankh earrings and the 18 year-olds who wore them in 1990
I shoot Big Bang Theory on Monday before I go back to Vancouver to finish out the fourth season of Eureka, so I have scored an entirely unexpected bonus weekend at home with my wife. Yesterday, we heard that Toy Soldiers was playing on local station KDOC (which was one of the truly great UHF sta...
I did send you a Tweet, but I figured it could be said twice, since you are so awesome.
Happy Birthday Wil!!
It's my birthday!
And I am having the best birthday, ever! Thank you to everyone who has wished me happy birthday on the Twitters, and if July 29th is your birthday too, happy birthday to you! (Image by Chuck Gamble, found at WIRED's GeekDad blog.)
I really am loving season 4 so far. Felicia is so talented, coming up with the storylines, and the actors bring it to life perfectly.
Fawkes had just the right amount of comedy and arrogance in episode 2. Well done Mr. Wheaton. I can't wait for next weeks installment now.
The Guild Season Four - Episodes 1 and 2
Season four of The Guild is underway. Here's episode one: <br/><a href="http://www.bing.com/videos/browse/originals/the-guild?videoId=9c194351-975c-4b54-9462-e85b3e87af8e&fg=sharenoembed" target="_new"title="Season 4 - Episode 1 - Epic Guilt">Video: Season 4 - Episode 1 - Epic Guilt</a> A...
I would love something like that Wil. I say go for it.
anyone interested in a short fiction collection?
I have a question for everyone who reads my blog: if I put some short stories I'd written together into a little collection and sold it at Lulu, would you be interested? I ask this because I collected a few short stories into a limited edition chapbook for last year's PAX Prime, and it's been si...
First, I am so happy that you will be returning to Leverage again. I loved the character of Chaos, and I really just enjoy watching you act. You have a great ability to bring a character to life, and I'm so happy you have the opportunites to do it more.
I too have serious issues with DRM. I'm tired of paying for shows, that I can't watch anywhere but my laptop, case and point, The Guild. I bought The Guild seasons through iTunes, and when I went to play them on my TV, which is linked to my computer through my PS3, the format is not supported. Really? I did pay for them, I just want to watch them.
I understand the need for a creator to protect their work, but does it have to be at the cost of people who pay for it? I don't know how, but there has to be a better way to do this without screwing over the little guy.
in which cha0s returns to #leverage, and @wilw gets screwed by drm for the last time
I've known about this for over a month, but I couldn't even hint at it until today: I'm returning to Leverage later this season, as superhacker Cha0s. WIRED's Underwire talked to me a little bit about it, and broke the news earlier today. I also wrote another column for Techland, about how I got...
*hug* Hey, I finally hugged Wil Wheaton! A life long dream come true.
Seriously, I'm glad that everything worked out for you. I missed seeing you grace my television screen. It's nice to know that there are actors out there who love what they do.
From the Vault: unpublished and unfinished scene from a grocery store
I'm working on repairing and restoring WWdN (don't get too excited or update your bookmarks just yet, my blog will live here no matter what), and while I was cleaning up duplicate blog entries, I came across several unpublished drafts of posts that I decided were too personal to publish, too unf...
Thanks for the Burrito Wil, I've been very hungry lately. Missed the podcast alot. I look forward to it to perk up my mondays.
So glad to have you back on The Guild! Can't wait for season 4!
Radio Free Burrito: Episode Twenty-Eight
Holy Crap, it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! Has it really been three weeks since the last show? I guess it has. Well, I brought a note that will hopefully excuse my absence... Show Notes: The logo was designed by WWdN:iX reader Marc, who asked that I not link to his "in progr...
I love that there is a new episode of Radio Free Burrito. It is the best part of my week and I have missed it so much. Although at the same time, I'm very happy that you have been way too busy working to record the Burrito:)
I am never disappointed with the music or the content of your podcasts and this week was no exception. I love that Anne recorded a bumper for you too! That was awesome!
Oh, and I'm glad that you found your recent trip to Canada enjoyable, with the exception of the shopping tag incident. Maybe it will tempt you to come and visit more often...
For your sanity, I hope the constuction ends soon.
Radio Free Burrito: Episode Twenty-Six
Holy Crap, it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! At long last, the planets align, I have time and ideas, and the GDMF construction next door is quiet. Show Notes: The logo was designed by WWdN:iX reader Marc, who asked that I not link to his "in progress" website. Thanks, Marc! Ra...
I am always sad to see episodes of The Big Bang Theory come to an end, but never more so than when 'Evil'Wil Wheaton appears. *tear drop falls*
I really hope they bring you (well, evil you) back again soon!
The Wheaton Recurrence
It's Sunday afternoon as I write this. I can't publish this manually, because if I've read my call sheet correctly, I'm currently playing Dr. Isaac Parrish on Eureka. If we're on schedule, I'm working in a scene with Erica, Colin, and Neil. If my experience on the show so far is any indication, ...
That was such a tease, but I'm grateful anyway. I can't wait for Monday night now.
Hopefully we can hear all about your newest projects on an episode of Radio Free Burrito soon. I've missed it alot.
Have fun in Vancouver, and thanks for posting a preview that all of us Canadians can see;)
Many Bothans died to bring you this...
I'm in Canada, working on Eureka, so I couldn't watch the previews CBS put online for The Wheaton Recurrence. Using all of my Evil Wil Wheaton powers, I contacted a sympathetic mole deep within the CBS Fortress of Power and got my hands on this preview.* I'm sorry I had to disable embedding, but...
Such an awesome gift from a friend. I clicked the link and saw the animated version...very awesome.
about that recursive wil wheaton t-shirt...
I'm guessing a non-zero number of you have seen this picture: I further imagine that some of you have seen the animated version. (Warning! May cause seizures, nausea, trips to Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite.) Like all awesome things, this comes with a story. Paul (of Paul and Storm) texted m...
I managed to catch your keynote on youtube and can sum up my reaction in one word, inspired. I felt inspired to game a little more, to take the time to teach my brother to play magic and also proud to be a gamer.
I spent the weekend at the Wizrd World Comic Con in Toronto, and although I know it couldn't compare to the feeling I would have experienced at Pax, I too felt sad when it was over. For 3 days I felt comfortable and accepted for who I was, a big geek.
Great job on the keynote, and I hope Pax Prime comes quickly for you.
*Also, I hope we can get an audio version of this speech, like the 2007 keynote:)*
in which wil feels homesick
One of the themes of my PAX keynote was Welcome Home, which everyone who had been to a PAX before could understand. For the first timers, though, I wanted to help them understand exactly why it is we say that, so I said: All of the things that make us weird and strange in the real world? Those ...
I really can't wait for 'The Wheaton Recurrance' to air! It's so awesome that they brought you back. I really hope that this becomes a semi-regular gig for you, since it's my favourite show.
Also, on the topic of recurrances, will you be returning to The Guild for season 4?
something something giant balls
This picture was taken after we'd been working all day on all the scenes that take place in the bowling alley. It turns out that shooting pretend bowling sequences is really complicated, and just a few minutes of final cut takes several hours to film. What you can't see is how Jim and I are tr...
That is SO AWESOME!!!! I loved your character the last time, and I look forward to some more "Evil Wil".
Hope you have a blast!
Evil Wil Wheaton returns to The Big Bang Theory
Well, it's official. Evil Wil Wheaton is going back to The Big Bang Theory! From TV Guide Magazine: Geeks everywhere will be happy hear that Star Trek star Wil Wheaton will be returning to hang out with TV’s hippest nerds on The Big Bang Theory. “We were very excited when Wil Wheaton appeared...
I loved your 2007 Keynote speech, I identified with it so much. Even now, in my house when we play Mario Bros on Wii, I think "our princess is in another castle", think of your speech and laugh. My family thinks I am nuts for this, by the way.
Sadly, I live in Canada, and have a severe fear of heights so making it to see the keynote is impossible:( Good luck with this years keynote, I'm sure it will be fantastic! Even better than 2007! Hopefully I can catch it on utube.
I am delivering the inaugural keynote at PAX East
I just realized that I mentioned this on Twitter over a week ago, and it's been on a lot of the gaming sites, but I never actually carved out a little hunk of blog-o-state to mention... I am giving the inaugural keynote address to PAX East in Boston on March 26th. I've been working on my keynot...
I have been writing my entire life, but not intensely until last summer. Since then I notice that I do pay attention to people, places and conversations a little more. I'm always looking for a new place to make a scene happen, new quirks for my characters and phrases that may be humorous or useful.
I am excited to watch things now, I see everything with a new fascination. I write because I have to, but I notice things so that I can write.
five quick things I think you'll like
I'm doing something fun and geeky this morning, but I need to close some tabs before I can really get into it, so I'd like to tell you all that John Scalzi's book Your Hate Mail Will Be Graded, for which I wrote the introduction, is now available in trade paperback. I genuinely loved this book, ...
Well Wil, I tuned into to your site this year for the first time and I've enjoyed every minute since. I discovered Radio Free Burrito and Memories of the Futurecast and they are now among the most played list in my iPod.
I understand that you can't help but touch on the things you didn't do, but that is always the case. You accomplished so much this year, I think you need to celebrate with a Guinness.
I'm looking forward to new exploits in 2010. I wonder if they can top 2009, and I definately look forward to finding out.
it was a very good year...
I spent a couple hours tonight going through my blog for the annual year in review series of posts. I thought I'd make two or three posts, but so much awesome stuff happened, I ended up with six - yeah, six - posts worth of stuff to pull out and comment on. That lead me to write this, which wil...
I sadly still do hunt down really cool sound bites and assign them to my computer. Nothing is more fun than finding the perfect sound bite.
I really enjoyed the show tonight and I am very happy to hear that Happiest Days will be available soon. I can't wait for my copy to arrive.
I love that you auditioned for Heroes! It is one of my favourite shows and I would love to see you on it (hey, never hurts to hope).
See you in the new year! Have a good one!
Radio Free Burrito: Episode Seventeen
Holy Crap, it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! I realize this will be played for an audience of eleven, because it's the week between Christmas and New Year, but it's important to me that I maintain my creative momentum, and I suppose a non-zero number of you out there in Internet...
Thank you Wil. I've been having a hard time getting into the holiday "spirt" this year, and your post made me feel just a little bit warmer. Great story, I'm glad that you and your family can find the bottom line of such a wonderous holiday.
Happy Holidays Wheaton family, and all the best in 2010!
From the Vault: surrounded by the joy of the season
In December of 2001, Anne I were really struggling financially. It had already been a pretty lousy year, as far as work went, and after September 11th, things only got worse. As Christmas got closer, it was clear that we simply couldn't afford to put many things under the tree for our kids, let...
Loved the podcast Wil. I hope this will happen weekly until Memories of the Futurecast returns. It always seems like you have so much fun with them. I love the little sound effects too.
I do hope that you will continue to answer more of the questions supplied by your followers. Loved the video game section and I agree, a Who version of Guitar Hero or Rock Band would be awesome.
Happy Holidays to you and your family. If we don't hear from you next week, Happy New Years as well!
Radio Free Burrito: Episode Fifteen
Holy Crap, it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! I started this episode on Monday, and real life (and trying damn hard not to suck) kept me working on it until Thursday. Let's find out if it was worth the wait! Show Notes: The logo was designed by WWdN:iX reader Marc, who asked th...
So sorry to hear that. As someone who has suffered the same thing, anything that makes you smile is a good thing. My best to you.
Memories of the Futurecast Episode Fourteen: Datalore
Holy crap! It's time for Memories of the Futurecast. Memories of the Future, Volume One, covers the first 13 episodes of TNG, so, starting at the beginning and working my way through the book, I picked one chapter a week and performed an excerpt for you. It was mostly from the synopses, which is...
I am so sad that Memories of the Futurecast is finished! At least we will Radio Free Burrito casting once again very soon. I really did enjoy the podcast and I do hope that you continue it when Memories of the Future vol two is released.
Also, as per usual I loved the music you featured. Always something for me to look forward too.
I will be hearing Wesley saying "Whee!" in my head for days. I'm sure I will also be hearing "Shut up Wesley" but it will not make me smile.
Quick note: I saw Nemesis on TV a few weeks ago and did spot you in the wedding toast scene, sitting next to Gates. I guess you appeared in some form of the wide screen version as I rewound my PVR and double checked it was you.

Okay, loved the podcast. So glad to have Radio Free Burrito back. Absolutely loved the story, I wish there was more.
Okay, I didn't love the ad for the planetarium. I live in Toronto and everytime I try to visit the planetarium, because such a cool thing, it's closed. You got my hopes up. I was literally opening my internet explorer when you said it was old. So sad. Really it was a cool ad,I just wish it had been current.
Looking forward to more Radio Free Burrito!
Radio Free Burrito: Episode Fourteen
Holy Crap, it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! I'm feeling creatively stuck and frustrated these days, so in an effort to escape from the chains of creative oppression, I thought I'd cook up a little burrito for the people. I hope you enjoy it, and remember to chew your food. Show...
