I cant really scope these repels response from our leader to a level of my understanding or maybe I am just not as intellect as a lot of you guys. I understand as a human sometimes you let your emotions take over your sense of judgment and your actions proceeds you but it is very inexcusable to castigate institutions or a citizen in a place that define and symbolize freedom and democracy. Let a lone a place that was influenced from a country that fought for their freedom and democracy. Actions like that narrate a whole lot about a person as moronic. I do wish those two citizens and their families didn’t experienced unexpected and difficulties in their everyday life. Although we got a taste of democracy in the early 50’s still we are premature to the system and I don’t mean that in untoward way. Sometimes I think that these people that not necessary doing us wrong but not exercising the equality of rights and the basic rule or foundation of democracy is because of the fact that we re so new to this. We opted our independence and we adopted our democracy and in a way to me at least we re beggarly in term of politics and I am saying this with upmost respect to our congressmen. I respect these people because they didn’t just got there because they wanted to, they did their deeds and accomplished and achieved something in order to get there and I respect them in that regards. It’s the un full filled promises and behaviors that troubles me. My friends, we have to know our right and the physical context of our freedom and our right and freedom doesn’t stop or end at the front door of OEK. You cant hinder anything in the congress if you don’t know where you stand in a democratic government. You cant be feared from the people you elected to the congress. Your term as a powerful citizen in a democratic government is endless and his or her term as a congressman is limited and you can end that by just not vote for the person. Public shame and criticisms from these particular leaders doesn’t make you any less Palauan or less of a man but it will gets you uppermost respect from your community and your fellow palauans. People respect people that stand for what they believe and voice their concern and be a leader. I like the title of your article Santy. The meaning is an immense and people should read your article. I don’t really know much about you to say that I respect you tremendously but I do because you don’t just stand on the side line and wait for another election. Your advocating for a better government and better livelihood for our people and that’s what every body needs to do. If we say, lets wait and if our leader doesn’t do what they said they would do for another three years then you have just sentence our citizen three years of wretchedness ungil chum

Still, the president needs to be specific. It is a good thing but to what extend? Theres a diff. between not allowing people with specific skills that we might need to prosper and people like regular Joe. I agree with it with the fact that we are getting people to come and work as a waitress which is stupid in the first place because we have people that can do that, but what if a person is a doctor or an engineer? US in the mid 80s and 90s were prospering rapidly because of brain draining from other countries. We need this method because we need to flourish and thriven. This whole quota for the foreign worker goes against the basic rule of developing the economic because more people works is more people paying taxes. Minister Fritz state 3,000 out of 6,000 are paying taxes so what are the other 3,000 doing? Their the wives of the 3,000 working and pay taxes. I don’t think so. That’s the issue here. I think the fix here is somebody needs to start enforcing the law here because if somebody’s working and not paying taxes then somebody needs to take care of that. These are the things we need to tackle, not implementing new laws. We don’t need to reform anything here no more. I know the President is smart and if anybody can do this, its him, I just don’t think that this was one of his priorities. Security, not so convinced because most people that employers are getting from other countries are third level workers. Maybe a little but not enough to weight on and don’t forget, we have US defense. Thx for stating that Cheuas ungil chum

I know a lot of people are gone be pished of me for saying this but If I was the President, I will stop all these nonsense and get behind the casino bill. This is a do or die moment my people, we either make history or be a history because we cant keep waiting for genie of the lamp to save us. If anybody can come up with a diff. alternative instead of cutting cost from the government and the casino then do because I think the president needs help or ideas. If you down size and consolidate respectively all the branches, you will save money. Twenty thousand plus people you don’t need a mirrored US government system. Our tuna, tourist and our undeveloped agriculture is not enough to cover our government expenditure so whats the next step? Remember people we don’t have much but theres a potential proposition that could bring a lot of funds for our good living. We all know that there are casinos all over the world and we’ve seen a lot of negative that goes beyond our conservative minds and ideas. Having casino doesn’t mean we are getting an exact copy of Las Vegas to our beautiful island. We are prepared because we’ve seen the bad side of it and so we will build and any obstacles that occurs we’ll know how to deal with it. We are running out of options and people are hungry and cant afford their electric bill and as a result they are leaving home. The appositions tend to tell the negative side of the casinos bill which is good because we need to know this stuff but one thing that everybody fail to address is how half of the country put food on the table and pay all the bills and still have surplus to play with. This is not good living people. Life is not fair but it doesn’t have to be like this. I know we re all warriors but we don’t have to fight everyday for our well being. We have a choice and we can turn this around. Life is all about choices. You make choices and you don’t look back because you either made the biggest mistake of your life or the brilliant one. ungil chum

ID’s really. Is that the reason why there’s no one up in here no more. People, we live in a democracy government, we are the supreme power. President and all the people that you elected are our agent. The power is invested in us and we exercise them by our agents. Write that down. Think of it this way, Presidents PR or advisor or a lawyer will read from us as a critique and maybe, just maybe will advise the president, say look Mr. President, apparently majority of people think this is not the way to make beldakl chum. Maybe he’ll change his strategy but if you don’t voice your concern you are either ok with the current system or you just don’t care and I doubt that. I am not promoting this blog but if we stop, it means we lost and they won again. They’re going to think that we re a push over, short thinker and we re just a bunch of yehaa citizen. We re much more then that people. Scream and yell for the righteous. ungil chum

Some people say its to soon but then again how soon is to soon. I know being a president is hard with mountain decisions, welfare for the people and the country, he cant just snap a finger and things happen but 100 days is a very long time and at least, just at least one policy that can turn somebody’s life around for the better. I don’t wanna shadow our government from the US but theres a reason why Obama, the most popular president in America is at his low according to polls rating because of his promises that he made a lot and his not living up to them. As a President I think, one thing you will or should be carrying in your mind for the rest of your term is that, you gave people a declaration of your theme, your influence, your philosophy and your goals. People rearranged their lives to go to the poll to vote for you with a sense of reliance, trust and a lot of hope for a change. These people had voted many times and each time a bit of their dignity is taken away but they kept going because they know one day the tide will turn. A long time ago when I was just a little kid from the state of Ngeremlengui, a particular candidate for the presidency was campaigning and gave an impeccable speech that even Socrates will admire and this is a true story. A woman if I recall correctly she was over 90 year old, she spoke fluent Japanese and she has seen them all. Germany’s influence to Japanese occupation and from her face, you can see that thing, that epitome of humbleness and the inferior of human nature and everybody knows and respect. Shes never voted before but this one election, she went all for it. She was so taken from the speech and his charisma and his good looks, that she decided to actually go to the voting poll and vote but the problem was she cant walk. Finally she asked some kid off the street and asks him if he can take her to vote. She and he knows that he cant carry her all the way to the voting poll but they compromised. Guess how he took her? In a wheelbarrow See Mr. President, the determination and the will from this woman; God Bless Her Soul, was an impact of those promises, particular policies and the goals that this candidate made and these people that elected you probably share the same motivation. People’s believes and confidence are starting to blear and your policies and promises are getting hazy by the day. Surprise everybody Mr. President. Don’t let your term to be another one on the total poll of did OK. Be proactive Mr. President.

Chad er Belau Perhaps a few, I wanna say most politicians but that just makes our government a fraud and I don’t even wanna think about it. I agree with you but I don’t think their acting like if its their permanent job. I think they think that when they get elected they own it like its their company. You know what I am sayin? they think they own the government and that’s why they do what ever they want and nobody ever really step up against these idiots and that’s why you see this infinite of waveform deceit, distortion and money laundering and we cant stop it. We could but we chose not to because if we did, punishment for Delegate Basilius bill for STATE MORE ACCOUNTABLE TO TAXPAYERS MONEY would be harsher then $1000 and 3 months behind bars. I know its not a bill, it’s a provision to an existing bill but still. We need to stop slappin these guys on the hand every time they messed up and start whoopin em with bamboo or idungel, meklou el idungel. Trust me, after this bamboo and idungel you will see these guys walkin around with golden ring hovering on top of their head and maybe some wings. Not two wings, just one we still need to watch em. Finally a bill that is worth making, yea and you think every time a post something its negative. NO. I know some of these congressmen got good hearts. However, I agree with this bill to a certain extend, pretty much the context of the bill. The problem is the punishment is not enough and to be fair, I live in the state so I cant really make judgment of the punishment but the degree of the punishment should be based on the circumstances. I do not agree that a $1000 and 3 months doing time is the appropriate punishment for this crime and not only that, it is very disrespectful for those people who lives in those state. Quote WHO MAKES, WHO RECEIVES FROM NATIOAN TREASURY there is no such thing as who make who receives. Congress approves funds for project, aids, national emergencies stuff like that not for whom a single person. When who receives funds from national treasury that is called steeling and thats a federal crime. A thousand $ including 3 months is a petty theft really. When you come to this blog whats the first thing you see right now? Another public official getting axed from AG and now you have notary public officer getting removed by the P. AG vs minister Ngiraingas and Ombudsman facing charges. I am not saying that these people specifically that I’ve just said their names are guilty I am just trying to make a point. C’mon people this is a parallel of officials committing crimes. Punishment should not be $1000 and 3 months time and or removed from office. It should be more, harsh and embarrassing. Make it as an example for everyone. More time, more fine, remove from office mandatory and confiscate his belongings prior to when his first day of office. This is not inhumane, its called punishment and he or she knew what she or he was putting their selves in. I really like this bill but delegate Basilius is introducing it with reservation. Think of it this way when you make these good laws, its not for the criminals, its to protect the good citizens of Palau. You should not have reservation when you make laws against these cowards and a thief. I like this bill, the punishment is weak but its something and we all should be proud At least we know that some of our congressmen are there looking out for us with a single tongue, not forked. ungil chum

I think we're already saving energy with these many outages. Two hours there, four hours here, half a day in babeldaoub. Whats the change? Look, i am not mocking anybody but this bill is fixing the hole on the roof with a chewing gum. You want change. Invest in some solar or something and or buy some new generators that doesnt consume a lot of diesel. This is a big problem and you cant fix it with one hour a day. You gotta look at the big picture and a long time run. You cant keep patching the hole because eventually your house is gone be covered with patches and at the end of the day when you totaled your patches expense, you could’ve built a new house. Invest people, thats the key. Every rich people knows that. Hontostyle state a good start. Educate your kids about saving power. Its important to our earth and people and especially our government financial. If you leave the kitchen turn off the light and the other rooms as well. Turn the tv off if no one is watching. things like that. ungil chum

This is very odd people. You see this everywhere especially the state but the state is the Fed going after executives and brokers and bankers and all the greedy bastards but with us, it’s the Feds going after these high ranked government officials. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE? I just don’t see how people relinquished so much for a very small prize. Its pathetic in many levels and when they get caught they get a slapped on the hand and probably a hug. The fact of the matter is these guys that were suppose to serve the people and the country and they got compensate with a lot of money compare to all of us are just lying to our face and steeling right in front of us and the thing is, they don’t loose a sleep. And when they see us in some coffee shop they go HEY…UNGIL TUTAU…KEUANGERANG…DI UNGIL A ROKUI EL TEKOI….MA URIUR. And then he goes cash his fat paycheck with the government seal on it. Aint that a bitch. Its so unfair for the rest of the citizens that just sit there and watch them cook the government with their own snake recipe and then when one get caught with their hands in the cookie jar they go Ok so, who’s the next in line. You have experience NO. Not really, thats fine you got the job. It aint that hard. Just don’t get caught. You might get hug. IMBECILES ungil chum

Government shouldnt be paying state bills. What the hell!!!! If you cant afford to have streetlights then don’t. Look I understand the population and the traffic and more cars than anywhere else but state and the Government needs to come with a diff. Alternative rather then the Gov. the Gov. the Gov. Gov. Gov. Gov. I don’t approve earmarks but if they really want to have streetlight then their state Delicate can ask for money to but streetlight but not to pay their monthly bill for their streetlight. We like to have things but the problem is nobody ever sees anything through. Before you do anything you got to do some research. You cant just jump in to it. Study the traffic and figure if you really need the lights then if you do figure out how to pay for the lights and whose gone pay for the electric bill. We buy good things to make our island look good but when the bill shows nobody wants to pay for it and then we go Gov. should pay it. Gov. can only do so much and the state needs to start taking some of these responsibilities

I am not for any change of salary for anybody @ this time just so everyone knows, maybe the teachers and the nurses. first of all if you look at the wealth ratio in palau most of these people have money or at least living higher in terms of cost then most regular citizen in palau. Apparently legal issues and strike like jasper said will occur if you mess with these guys pay check. The only way to modify these guys salary lower which i dont think you can is to promulgation an executive order but thats unlikly from the Pres. One thing everybody knows is you can not raise taxes because its gone raise taxes from the rich all the way to the bottom of the barrel sqrapers. cheuas is right. Need to cut more unneccessary cost. The Pres. is on the right track for bringing new investors and he needs to start cutting some of these cost that tax payers are payin and not seeing the light of day. Advisors c'mon Advisors!!! are U kidding me. 20,000 plus people you do not need advisors. You got the traditional cheafs and the ministers thats it. You got work with whats you got. Van Wilder: there time when you need to stop and realize bad investment and start cutting your loses.

I agree with the highest job should be payed more but I also understand the crisis that we are in right now. We can change the salary when things turn around but not right now. Theres no money right now to compensate the raise so how about a quick fix. TRADE THE PAY ROLL. CJ gives his 90k to P and P gives his 50k to CJ. eeeaaassyyyy
