After being a mother for 24 years, I thought a few insights of what I had learned would be helpful. I would like to give out some more information that I feel strongly about and if it can help one mother out there my effort has been for good. Okay, let me set the scene for you. (This can be any place at any time) You have made it to church, even on time. Good Job! You laid out the clothes the night before, even the socks and shoes (that is always the killer) why can you only find one... Continue reading

Because I nursed all nine of my children (including my twins) something that saved me (tip) was learning to nurse lying down. I always kept my baby (tip) in a basinet or portable crib next to my bed for the first few months (3-6), until I got them to sleep through the night. So when I first heard the baby wiggling around and grunting I would pick them up and lay back down and nurse them. The baby was not all upset by having to cry so much to wake me. Some might be asking, but what about changing them?... Continue reading

1. Thinking that one style fits all This one's not surprising: The bookstores are teeming with manuals, each touting an expert's best -- and only -- method. Friends and Grandma love to tell you what worked for them. And there is definitely something appealing about the simplicity of a one-approach-fits-all strategy. But some children freak out when you speak to them sharply, while others are unaffected. Some learn the first time you tell them something; others need so much repetition, you despair of their ever learning. Some listen right away; others need time to scream it out before you can... I would have to say, the first rule of being a new Mom is to: Sleep When the Baby Sleeps I know how bad you want to pick up the house, or just do that load of dishes, or how much you want to take a shower, Oh man how good that sounds – I know. Don’t do it, you must rest and let yourself recover, even if you feel fine. If you don’t and you push yourself too hard too soon – You will pay for it later. I mean 3-9 months down the road. So use wisdom, this... Continue reading

Each baby is different, each baby nurses different, if they can even nurse at all. (That's okay) And yet we do compare ourselves... Continue reading
