Oh, god! I still remember when I first saw the commercial.
I couldn't believe what I was watching and took some minutites until I realize the man was the NICHOLAS CAGE!!!
And of course laughed so hard. Gosh.
Here in Japan, Pachinko CMs are aired in the time slots in late night due to the nature of Pachinko that is the R18 game of gambling. I guess that condition fuels the wackyness to all the other Pachinko CMs here; midnight=you are either too "high" or too sleepy to keep your sensibility which functions OK during the daytime.
Thanks for the entry. I really do hope you will be on one of the CMs here. (crossing my fingers)
Nicolas Cage has a FEVER and the only cure is more pachinko
One of my great regrets is that, when I was super famous (back in the Swatches-on-jacket years), I didn't get to do one of these bizarre Japanese commercials. I think I would have been the most number one super terrific selling power in the entire prefecture for surprise time.

Simply beautiful, both of you! Congrats!
to mark the passage of three thousand six hundred and fifty-three days together
We went to Napa for our tenth anniversary. For the record: being married to your best friend rules.
I totally root for you, Wil.
As you have mentioned, some people don't seem to understand that their own act will end up ruining the whole thing--creation and appreciation of art in any form--in the long run.
I had the similar experience with my part of post-production work for a film, which I worked so hard and spent so much time to complete, was totally ripped off and distorted by someone who just wanted to make fast money on the net. When I found it out, I was ENRAGED. Then I sent them an email asking them to withdraw the "distorted ver." from their site, pointing out what they were doing was copyright infringement, they responded in a few days but there was no word of apology. I really appreciate people like you are articulating the importance of respect to creation and art because laypeople like me in the world are helped by such words.
I'm looking forward to your new work on my toes!
an open letter to the guy who put just a geek the audiobook on his website for people to steal
Hi there, guy-who-I-won't-link-to-for-obvious-reasons, I'm Wil Wheaton. I wrote Just A Geek, and I created the audiobook you're helping people steal. You may not know this, but I 'm just one guy, without a publisher, so when you help people steal this copy of Just A Geek by making it available f...
OMG. This is such a superb pic! Thanks for sharing!
I was glad to hear the other day that Mr. Nimoy would appear in a TV show again. I envy all of you in the US or who have access to Hulu. (Sigh...)
this is the coolest picture you'll see all day
Well it's been a wonderfully busy week, and now it's over. I finished Big Bang Theory on Tuesday, spent much of Wednesday wishing I was still working with them, and then recorded the voice of Mr. Qubit for the IRREDEEMABLE motion comic yesterday. Since I'm too busy to write up the stuff that nee...
Wonderful! It really made my day.
Thanks for sharing this. :)
wil wheaton gets lucky ... sometimes
This was the ultimate highlight of my #PAX 2009, and watching it again just now brought tears to my eyes again. I'm not worthy of something this awesome. Thank you Jonathan, and Paul, and Storm, and Molly for making me feel cool. I <3 you guys.
Holding such heavy emotion in without someone to talk to is really, really hard. Hang in there. That's all I can say. Just hang in there.
in which some comfort is found
I saw Ferris' empty dish last night when I fed Riley, and it unleashed an agonizing wave of sadness so overwhelming, I dropped to the floor in our living room and cried as hard and as long as I ever have in my life. After she was finished eating, Riley came over to me and sniffed at my face. Th...
Thank you for posting such a precious photo. The film is a gem. Whenever I watch the piece of work, I still cry when Chris confides to Gordie about the truth behind "the stolen milk money and the polka dot skirt" and am fascinated by the serene/poetic moment when Gordie meets a deer in the morning.
The different paths the four actors took after the movie were somewhat prophetic as you said. But I personally don't feel spooky about it. If you don't have the elements of the characters, you won't become "the one" no matter what others say or do. (Except for River's case, though. It could have been different if someone with decent mind was beside him...) I always remember the very last words of Alanis Morisette's "Ironic" when I think about it. [Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you/Life has a funny way of helping you out]. Probably knowing "the elements" consciously and unconsciously as a directer, Rob Reiner did a beautiful job of bringing them out from you all and embody them in the work. With the superb direction, the solid script, the beautiful cinematography and other out-of-the-frame works, the film was universally accepted and is/will be cherished throughout the world because it's authentic.
One thing I could not and still can not understand is why Richard Dreyfuss was cast as Gordie the writer. "That little Gordie turns into him? Nah, I don't buy that." Though I admitted Mr. D as one of the good actors, Gordie was not him in my mind.
Then, when I found your blog and recent picture, the idea became a conviction. You look a zillion times hotter than the big R, perhaps in a geeky way. :)
i never did national network tv interviews later on in life like the ones i did when i was twelve
When we filmed Stand By Me, none of us knew it was going to be the huge success that it became. None of us expected it to be part of that 50s revival that was so much fun in the mid-80s, and none of us knew that it would essentially launch all of our acting careers. But I think that, if you aske...
This is so brilliant!
And, to me, it's sort of like a "deja vu" experience because I posted an entry to my blog in my language, (i.e., in Japanese,) inspired by your book, "Just a Geek."

I love reading your writing both on the net and in print. Looking forward to the new one.
Happy B-day to your lovely partner!
I just wanted to say that I'm a nerd, and I'm here tonight to stand up for the rights of other nerds.
"Hi, Gilbert. I'm a nerd too. I just found that out tonight. We have news for the beautiful people. There's a lot more of us then there are of you. I know there's alumni here tonight. When you went to Adams you might've been called a spazz, or a dork, or a geek. Any of you that have ever fel...
