OUR DETERMINATION The strength of existence lies in determination, the ability and willingness to continue onward, forward without delay or hesitation, with a sense of hope for what may only be a dim notion, a hunch, an inspiration calling us towards a greater and more potent good; beckoning us. Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive. Mathew 21:22. So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:24. Much of New Thought is based on these two quixotic and revolutionary quotes offered by Jesus of Nazaeth, that without question demonstrate his clear and profound comprehension of the very essence of our relationship with God. I believe Jesus would read the guidance I post below, titled Our Tender Grasp, and be in agreement. Continue reading

MANEUVERABILITY The essence of success is maneuverability, making adjustments as needed or desired, shifting course to avoid pitfalls or negative consequences, taking full advantage of positive currents or momentum, open to every advantage, aware of potential possibilities or oversights, hands steady on the wheel, mind strategically fixed on the destination, fully knowing what is intended, with clarity or purpose and performance; keenly transfixed. This maneuverability often is the deciding factor in the overcoming of diversity, the unexpected, the setback, the uncharted delay – assisting with an attitude prepared for counter response and correction – able to think creatively under pressure, to maintain emotional balance, unafraid of risk or consequence, locked and loaded for success – with the face and soul of a living hero, capable and courageous. The only criterion, in my opinion, for a successful spiritual quest is the ability to foster and maintain an ongoing personal connection/ relationship with the divine. God, I believe, does not care what vehicle we use in order to arrive at this connection, only that we do. So we can chant, pray, sing, meditate, dance, bow, kneel, bounce, be mindful – the method, or path, chosen is not the sole determiner of spiritual success. Only the connection, and this actual connection, again in my opinion, can be accomplished through words, music, dreams, inspirations, voices, signs, signals, visions, imaginings, or the arts – here again, I believe, God is fully flexible, ready, and surely able to communicate in whatever way will best foster this ongoing, personal relationship. With this connection actuated, the poem/note offered below serves as a reminder that we may now be ready to move forward, to ignite our true, authentic passion, to offer our unique contribution, to let our soulful voices, resound. JOIN US AT OUR MAIN LOCATION www.FindingGodOnTheTrain.com Connect on Twitter @GodOnTheTrain Facebook www.facebook.com/GodOnTheTrain I have been sorting through the poems, affirmative thoughts, and notes I have recorded and published on the blog. Of course, there are many that were written, and then hastily forgotten, failing to catch my notice. The affirmative thought below, that I have now titled Hollow Warrior, seemed to travel through time to grab my attention this morning, carrying a message that startled me, taking my breath away. Perhaps, today, I feel like a hollow warrior, waking each morning to continue a fight that only appears to... Continue reading

I reach back to September of 2011 to feature below a previously unpublished note titled Envision Life. I feel this is a practice that I need to master. Honestly, even after studying the greats of New Thought mind control - Mulford, Atkinson, Wattles, Larson, Neville, Troward, and Holmes, to name but a few, I feel my talents in this area are but remedial. Many of us roll our eyes at the thought of actually envisioning and attracting into our lives what we want through strong intention and faith. At the same time, we marvel at the greats who have done just that to improve the world and enrich their own lives. On the flip side, how many of us spend our waking hours in constant contemplation of scarcity, lack, suffering, and loss, only to be taken down by our own focus. It is time to use our cocreative powers to envision a better life for ourselves and humankind. Yes, if you think this is brainwashing you are correct, but I assure the skeptic, after a true assessment of our errant thought patterns, our brains may truly benefit from a scrubbing. Chapter Eleven of Finding God On The Train – The Book , offered on the left hand sidebar of the blog as it is written, titled Mind Control Approaches and Techniques covers the art of envisioning in-depth. So, let us use our thoughts to sculpt and improve our lives. To grab reality and mold it in our favor. Continue reading

“It’s a sure thing.” This is a phrase that often makes me chuckle, for all the times I have heard it used in business, only to discover it was anything but a “sure thing.” We human beings are created to be innately suspicious, it is the quality most likely to have ensured our continued existence. A sure thing is what we least expect, and the use of it often makes us think of the mountebank preparing to fleece us. Continue reading

After months of reading modern philosophy to support my own theory of God Consciousness, I have been drawn back to explore the rationality of the message of Finding God On The Train, perhaps to provide it with a more coherent and understandable framework. Two key terms – being and beingness – are at the core of what I believe I am tasked to convey. First, you and me and all sentient existence provide the essence of what I would refer to as - “conscious being,” that is, each individuated being to some degree has been provided some actual awareness: with us human beings having, thanks to our language capability and our expandable brains, the most refined and defined capacity. This morning, while meditating and attempting to focus my mind, which was fixated on all the projects and efforts I have yet to complete or finish, I began to shuffle through the images and impressions of the year, and a question captured my attention; simply put the question asked: Have you grown this year? The note below titled Pilot Light is one of my favorite Holiday messages. Perhaps, the true meaning of enlightenment is not experiencing “the light,” but instead, being the light itself. Hopefully, this holiday season will find our lights, both individually and collectively, shining bright. Continue reading

Is the true gift of Christmas one of possibility, one of the potential to be so much more than we now manifest in our often struggling human race? The note below proclaims this to be so, offering us three gifts, that if properly received would truly bring us all great joy. Continue reading

The existence of a Universal God Consciousness has a basis in reality, and is supported by the theoretical and research work of both the scientific and metaphysical communities - and as a result, is considered tenable by leading experts in the study of human consciousness. To prove the validity of my hypothesis – the existence of a Universal God Consciousness - we will need to travel through time and harness the support of philosophers, scientists and the mystics alike, thus presenting theoretical, experiential, and research support from psychology, physics, biology, philosophy, theology, along with metaphysics – which may enable and allow us, using a Rumi phrase, “to peak beneath the skirt of God.” This is our mission – so where do we start. I will offer what my train guidance has revealed to date, along with the theory I have developed to support my hypothesis, but first, we must understand what human thought, aggregated and categorized as philosophy, science, metaphysics, and the arts, has to say about God consciousness. Life itself is a cycle of becoming, then being, then shedding what must be let go to make way for what may be waiting on the path ahead. This cycle exists within each sentient entity and, I believe, is the very fabric of nature from the minute to the magnificent – this cyclic force propels us forward to greater growth and potentials. The message of Finding God On The Train has centered on the ability of each one of us to connect with God directly and personally; tapping into what we might envision as an eternal broadcast, set to connect with whomever breaks through and listens - much like the communication we earthlings rocket into distant space, hoping to connect with whom or whatever. In reality, I believe this consciousness based, prevailing message, is more personally tailored to the individual listener. The Quakers have actually centered their faith and worship around this concept of a direct personal connection with God. I do feel this is, and may remain, a point of contention and confusion with many of our more mature religious orientations. So with this post, I offer some additional guidance in hopes of aiding those who are actively in pursuit of the “still small voice,” by amplifying some of the subtleties of this interaction, at least based on my personal guidance received over the first-half of this October 2016. First, as conveyed by this Affirmative Thought below, we must understand our own sweet spot: Continue reading

At the conceptual center of the New Thought theological framework that my inspiration borrows from so heavily, is the genius of Ralph Waldo Emerson, leader of the Transcendental philosophical movement developing in New England around 1835. Transcendentalism, a response to rationalism, taught that divinity pervades all nature and humanity, and its early members, who formed the Transcendental Club, including Margaret Fuller, Bronson Alcott, Theodore Parker, Frederick Henry Hedge, George Ripley, Elizabeth Peabody, and later Henry David Thoreau, held progressive views on a full-range of spiritual and secular topics, including feminism and communal living. Much of the guidance forming this movement evolved from the popular lecture based essays written and presented by Emerson at the time, along with the Transcendental monthly literary publication – The Dial - first published in October 1839. Before proceeding, I would like to offer the note that follows titled Taut Wisdom, and then return to Emerson and hopefully clarify the central theme of this post. Continue reading

God is the energy of creation within the fluid flux of existence: the thrust that evolves us, that improves us, that has taken us kicking and screaming from our dingy cave dwellings into an existence of continuously more profound possibility; with a growing, expanding insight, that allows us to push all natural constraints, and, even as our repeated attempts may fail at times, often at an incredible toll of human life, this spirit of God born within us, wakes our aching souls, stirs our daunted desires, inspires our muddled dreams, as we stumble forward, humbled but wiser. As the note above contends, we are beings of yearning, often forged in deep subterranean places, smoldered, until creating an ache that takes form and purpose, often alive within us, working to steer our intentions, appropriate even our worthier activities. Continue reading

We, us, humankind, who forever exist as the erupting force of viable life, let us know this: from the very moment of first consciousness our ancestors ripped at the light of the world surrounding them, harnessing what was reachable to create a more sustainable foundation going forward. As we, in our lives now, add our footsteps to this road, venturing onward, we must contribute, not tentatively, but with our whole-hearts, knowing the very existence of future existence depends upon the nurturing of this eruption. Let us each wade through the morass of our unique lives, clearing away the lethargy, stretching to discover what sparks we might ignite; what fountain of life we might inspire; what wonder - personally and collectively as a family of beings – we might erupt. The establishment of our personal, individual existence, before or after this earthly life, has been a point of much speculation and conjecture. As with all things spiritual, we have a tendency to layer myth, wishful thinking, and hopeful clairvoyance to come to our belief, whether individually, or as a follower of a specific religious perspective. As a true believer in the traditional view of heaven, my wife Ann shudders when I talk this way. Yet, I feel it is essential that we not just except a standard answer without questioning its veracity, at least as it relates to our own spiritual perspective. My guidance, like the note below, has repeatedly pointed to not only an afterlife, but a before–life, with this all too brief time in between, a place of fostered growth, an incubator of sorts where our joint experiences are folded back into conscious- ness, to be shared with those who are still in the process of living. It is not my purpose to dispel or disclaim your personal vision of the afterlife, only to stimulate productive speculation for those inclined, who, like me, may find themselves closer to the after part than the before. The calibration of my spiritual progress currently appears as if it would best be measured by an instrument my big brother used as a tool and die maker - a micrometer, a gauge used to measure the minutest distances – as small as one millionth of a meter. I remember, as an eight-year old, marveling at my then eighteen year-old brother’s tools and the accompanying stories of exact mathematical based measurement, and the associated risks of destroying the metal creations being prepared for our national defense, or some other worthy and significant applications. Lately, my spiritual quest has left me feeling somewhat hemmed in, as if I have gone as far as possible: stymied, constantly going to the same door and trying to open it, with no luck. Of course, this has happened before, and I have always found a way to move forward, usually finding a helpful paradigm for my future efforts in the process. It was not until I received the meditation guidance below, titled The Box, that I could visualize the issues behind my impasse – I am stuck in a sort of conceptual box, one which is not going to budge with the use of standard tools, such as, meditation, prayer, and positive thinking, but will require a more pertinent reframing, a re-envisioning of my internal and external experience. As the note expresses, the very walls of this box are “self” fabricated, a blend of my self image, limited perspective, and convoluted expectations. So, as the note also conveys, I will need to shed these layers of false reality and - remember. What I am to “remember” is not yet clear to me, but I would speculate, if past experience holds true, it is a set of personal adjustments that I will need incorporate into my life in order to move onward. As with all of our spiritual journeys, the guidance we directly receive as we progress on our unique path, will usually of a specific personal nature, rather than merely generic. The note that we have been discussing is offered below, followed by a prayer I recorded earlier in this recalibration process titled Open To Be: a prayer I feel that may assist those who have discovered - they too may be in a similar, self constructed box – a prayer that may, hopefully, expand their own self imposed confines, while in turn, stretching their spiritual potential. I have watched this excellence unfold daily, even if, often, I have just taken it for a given, failing to realize the enormous genius involved in its formation, the sheer monumental energy even one nanosecond of its universal becoming requires; often unaware of its carefully crafted and sculpted creations set to maximize even the minutest presence, powering each form forward and beyond what even now is considered plausible, realistic. I feel, when we set out to understand the design and the designer, our consciousness is stretched, somewhere in our reflection a Gestalt takes place, then, only then, for a moment we can peer beyond the artifacts into the very engine of creation, then, only then, do we perceive vastness of the infinite, the magnitude of becoming. It is in this vein I offer below the poem/note titled By Design, possibly to assist this sort of spiritual deep consciousness diving, with the hopes of piercing the source, or at least, to gain a brief glimpse of the magnificence behind the scenes. It is Sunday night, after watching a Hallmark “Christmas in July” movie, Ann grabs the remote and says sarcastically, let’s check with CNN and see what happened today. Before I could say - ok, or please no - I was watching the gruesome news that three Baton Rouge police officers had been shot and killed earlier in the day - assassinated while responding to a bogus call from an out of state attacker, with at least three other officers seriously injured. The conclusion to one of the worst weeks of carnage I can remember in my lifetime, a week full of terrorism, racial hatred, political unrest, and just plain madness. Quite frankly, our world was unraveling. So, I wake Monday morning and meditate, asking for guidance on how I, we, all of us might constructively respond to, approach, and hopefully, eventually, circumvent this ongoing pattern of daily disaster. The response, listed below, titled Wrong Reflection at first seems clearly escapist, but after some consideration, I realize our current fixation with violence in all forms, as well as the anger, hatred, and institutionalized meanness, requires a radical reconceiving, at least on the spiritual level, hopefully helping us to stop attracting and perpetuating our own madness. It is time, I believe, for a new vision, a more purified reflection: a world of sanity rather than violent extremes – a world worthy of refection. Continue reading
