Wait--Meram used to be a kicker for Michigan? Ug, he could have helped out a ton over at the Big House...although, I am enjoying Michigan's run this year...
Amen- on the playoffs to 10 teams. Even with the fire missing the playoffs--this was my favorite year of MLS in reent memory, i think the playoff race down the wire added to that enjoyment. Garber--you are building a good thing here--don't f it up!!
I think it is TERRIBLE! As an earlier poster stated--this was the first year that the playoffs seemed like a legit accomplishment. Hopefully--Garber hears the feedback from the fans on this.
@ Rory: San Jose averaged 9,659...in a stadium that holds 10,300. Or 94% capacity. I'm not worried about them drawing when they move to a new stadium--or KC. Apologies, I'm having trouble with typepad--in responding.

Am I missing something? It seems liek Chicago had a damn good draft? From some guy's espn site--Chicago got 2 of the top 15 prospects. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I've had trouble finding facts on-line. So maybe someone can help with a link. Yes, I wish it were on TV as well (FSC, GOL TV, ESPN Deportes). Are the rights fees too much? Is more money made off satellite/pay per-view? any link info would be apprecaited.
Agree. As we look to increase to realistically increase the meaning of the regular season (as promotion/relegation remain a pipe dream), this seems like the best option. Add in the atmosphere from a home side hosting the final--it will be a great advertisement for the league.
(sorry--just a vent) PLEASE for the health of this league let Houston get a *DOWNTOWN* stadium!! I understand land is cheaper in the suburbs, but MLS has put forth a policy of thinking long term (salary cap, single entity, etc). I support that. However, long term health also means working to place stadiums in an easibly accessible location, even if that means waiting in stadiums that are not the best right now. Among the other four sports there has been a movement since the late 70's to move stadiums BACK into the City. Toronto and Seattle are such huge successes, in part, due to their stadium location. And I feel New York will take off being at a PATH station stop. NO MORE FRISCO's! Best of luck Dynamo...and apologies for the rant---Hapy Holidays to the rest of the Mafia.
Opinions sought. Will the US vs. England game top the 1999 Women's world cup final US TV audience of 40 million (still the record for a soccer game in this country)?
Well, we are headed to having 18 teams in two years--and only 30 regular season games. Therefore, conferences will help alleviate an unbalanced schedule.
Interesting proposal--but one of the universal interesting aspects of sports is that each year, a team starts 'fresh'. One can imagine the outrage if the team with the best record in the league finishes with the 7th seed. But, again thought provoking.
And it's not nearly as ridiculous as the Mexican League. 3 groups of six where each team plays the other team in the league once...at least MLS will get to an unbalanced schedule eventually due to league size where playoffs make sense.
Ives, now that Luis has moved on to covering the late-night beat, does this mean you will not get a chance to avenge the FIFA 08 beatdown he applied to you earlier this year? BTW, love the site.

I don't think Luis is going to get this kind of response from his all day Oscar blog...
