I froze my butt off for 4 days in a stand waiting for a good shot. But I got one. I don't see why people are poaching, but I'm glad that they are being caught. In Missouri, they say that their numbers are down. I don't know if that's because of all of the poachers, or if the poachers are making it difficult to do effective deer management by overharvesting certain areas. Either way they are a scourge to ethical hunters. Another thing that it messes up is when ethical hunters can't find deer because their either killed or spooked before the season. Also, meat processors are losing business because they won't take deer that doesn't have a legit tag.

Those numbers are normal for Missouri, officials say, but spotlighting is up this year. Spotlighting is when poachers shine bright lights at deer and then shoot them. It's also illegal to shoot deer from the road. Who knew? |Meredith Rodriguez

Ben Roethlisberger's foundation is giving a grant -- I don't know how much yet -- to help KCPD buy a new K9 to replace a dog that's retiring because of arthritis.

I like the idea. I once considered a plot to plant marijuana on an enemy's yard but figured I would get caught trying to acquire the seeds or in the process of planting them.
