Organizing Tip #30 comes from Facebook Fan Ingrid: Since I am an avid dog walker I think it is always a great idea to have both cars outfitted with a blanket.... When the dog is off leash and we come across water of any sort upon returning to the car the seats or the back of the car can be easily covered and will not end up with messy footprints on them. The blanket is easily washed and the car is clean! Organizing Tip #31 comes from Facebook Fan Lisa: Not sure if you have a similar tip, but I... Continue reading

Organizing tip #21: In the quest keep clutter in check, I love this three step process from Professional Organizer Peter Walsh: 1. If you use it, put it away. If you dirty it, wash it, etc. If the entire family thinks this way, you will no longer have a trail of clutter. 2. Do the "trash bag tango"...... Have each family member spend 10 minutes a day wandering from room to room with two trash bags, one for garbage and one for donations. 3. Do not bring anything new into the house (clothes, toys, etc) until you create the uncluttered space... Continue reading

Organizing tip #11: I often talk to my clients about 'prime real estate' in their home. For example, your kitchen countertop is prime real estate and should only be used for items that you use on a daily (or almost) basis... Coffee maker for example. If your crockpot, blender or toaster is only used on occasion, then they should be stored somewhere else in your kitchen and not clutter your countertops. And just because an item is a kitchen item, does not mean it deserves prime real estate space in your kitchen. If there are items that are used only... Continue reading

In honor of all of you who have declared one of your New Year resolutions to GET ORGANIZED, I have been posting an organizing tip each day in January on my facebook page. Here are tips 1-10: Organizing tip #1: the best decluttering tool... A garbage bag! When I am working with a client, it is the first thing I pull out. It is amazing how easy it is to let go of things if the bag is right there with you. Organizing tip #2: Keep a donation bag in your closet. When you put something on that you take... Continue reading

Remember this post a while back about the coupon book that I made? Well, my friends and clients have loved it so much, that I made a bunch to give as thank you gifts. Since they have been so well received and I have numerous people wanting to buy them, I decided to set up an etsy shop so that I can sell them! So, stay tuned, the shop will be up soon and you can buy one for yourself, and for a friend. They make great gifts! Continue reading

Summer is here and if you have kids you are going to hear this more than once! We have plenty of fun things planned this summer, but I know I am still going to hear these words from my 11 year old daughter. I am being preemptive and have come up with what I hope will be a great solution. The I'M BORED JAR: I just took a jar that I had stored away and decorated it with some ribbon and stickers...you can use whatever you have around the house, a coffee can, oatmeal container, whatever. Get your kids involved... Continue reading

With only 21 days until Christmas you hopefully have most of your Christmas shopping done. I have all of the big stuff done, but it is that last little stuff I still have to get. You know, a few last stocking stuffers for my daughter, my daughters horse trainer, my nail and hair lady (waving Hi to Carol), one last thing for my teenage nephew...that kind of stuff. Listed below are what I feel to be five great, low priced organizational (in their own way) gifts from the Container Store (sigh, I really wish we had one here). 1.Desktop Speaker... Continue reading

Every Tuesday I will post a tidbit from my home … a small sampling of something I did in my home to help me get organized. Visit back each Tuesday to see another tidbit. This past Sunday I spent an hour making 6 dinners…yup in only one hour, including prep and clean-up. I had two recipes that both called for browned ground beef, so I did some browning and then split it up. I put all the ingredients for spaghetti sauce in a big pot to simmer while I made up enchilada casseroles. In the end, I had dinner for... Continue reading

Every Friday I will showcase one (or more) organizational products that I like, products that I use in my own home or have purchased for clients. Visit back each Friday for Friday’s Product Pick. When I moved from California to Idaho just over four years ago I found things to be different in many ways. One of which was at the grocery store. On my first visit at the checkout line, I did not hear that question: ‘plastic or paper?’. I had always been a paper girl, but here I did not get that option. It was plastic all the... Every Tuesday I will post a tidbit from my home … a small sampling of something I did in my home to help me get organized. Visit back each Tuesday to see another tidbit. This is a basket in my pantry. I don’t have a name for it, but it has a very functional use in my weekly menu planning and grocery shopping. Each weekend I get out my calendar and my recipe binder and I make my menu for the week (just dinners). My menu is based upon our schedule for the week, for example, my 10 year old... Every Friday I will showcase one (or more) organizational products that I like, products that I use in my own home or have purchased for clients. Visit back each Friday for Friday’s Pick. I was having a conversation with a new friend not too long ago about my Organizing business and I brought up the subject of Junk Drawers. Knowing that I am an organized person she was surprised that I had a junk drawer. Yes, even I have a junk drawer, but it is organized. A junk drawer is just a drawer where miscellaneous stuff and stuff that does... Continue reading

Every Tuesday I will post a tidbit from my home … a small sampling of something I did in my home to help me get organized. Hopefully this tidbit will help you get organized. Visit back each Tuesday to see another tidbit. I wasn’t going to use this for my first tidbit…but with flu season in full swing and the sickies in our house right now, I think the timing is good. This is a cabinet above our kitchen desk that I have designated as our medicine cabinet. It used to contain boxes, bottles and containers of medications in a... Continue reading
