Have a think about what you were doing in 1981. At school? You may have not even been born yet. More than likely, it will be something far different to what you're doing now. Now think about what the Coodabeen Champions were doing 35 years ago. They were radio presenters. Presenting a footy show. Called the Coodabeen Champions. The reason it feels like they've been around forever is they've actually been around forever! And they're back on Saturday March 28th for their 35th year on air. From 10am to midday, you can enjoy everything you've come to love about the... Continue reading

The Grand Final streamers have been cleared away, the cup is safely behind glass at Glenferrie Oval and the Coodabeens have headed away for their end of season trip before hitting their 'hardest preseason ever'. That'll get Billy, Ian, Jeff, Greg and Torch in tip top shape to tackle their 35th season on radio. The boys want to thank you all for your support throughout the 2014 footy season and can't wait to see you next year. Continue reading

You all know the Coodabeens have been on air for 34 years. Billy and Ian have known each other since they were kids! We've done countless shows for so many different audiences over that time. That's where you come in... we've got albums full of photos, but we know we're missing a whole lot. So, if you have a shot of the boys from the 80s, 90s, 00s or even recently (you can tell the era from the length of Richo's mullet!), send them to us so we can add them to the likes of these... That's right, you're not seeing things - the Coodabeens Footy Show is almost here for 2014! Billy, Jeff, Ian, Greg and Torch have had their best preseason ever and have never looked fitter. Their testing is off the charts and they've been training over preseason with a match day intensity. So you should be very excited for what we have in store for you all footy season. There will be plenty of new segments as well as your favorites - talkback, Champs' songs and all the banter you've enjoyed for the better part of 35 years. And we want to... Continue reading

Last Saturday (December 28th) maked the final Coodabeens Saturday Soiree - of 2013 and forever. Billy, Jeff, Ian and Greg want to thank all of you for your support and well wishes over the last few days and the past decade. We have sincerely enjoyed the company of not just our regular guests but everyone who has called in, written, Facebooked and tweeted. Thanks also to the inimitable Scott Watkins-Sully - a staple of our Saturday nights for a very long time. We will be back in the footy season - never fear, the Coodabeens Footy Show will keep on... The footy seasons are done and dusted, that Spring forward into Daylight Saving(s) is behind us and the Coodabeens Saturday Soiree is already one week down! We know the only reason you may have missed it is because you didn't know we were back, so this week, and all summer, you have no excuse. On air from 7pm until 10pm on Saturday evenings (check local guides) you'll get the boys in all their glory. It'll be like sitting in the beer garden of your local with a few mates - chatting about the important (and not so important) things in... Continue reading

The Coodabeen Champions have embraced the world of social media, and have integrated it into their 33rd year on radio with some fun results. Every week, the boys are asking you to respond to their question of the day. But here's the catch: your response must be via twitter. The Coodabeens' twitter handle is @coodabeens, and every Saturday morning at around 10:15am, you'll see a question posted. You have an hour to respond to have your answer read (if it's funny enough!). Tune in at 10am every Saturday morning to see what we mean. Once the boys embrace something -... Continue reading

The Soiree is already three weeks old, and the Coodabeens may as well not have been away for the past six months given the high quality of rabbitting on you've been able to enjoy! Interesting guests, great live music, mouth-watering recipes and plenty of stories - both tall and true - have been a feature. Normie Rowe, Shane Jacobson, Russell Mark, My Friend the Chocolate Cake, Howlin' Steam Train, Shirley Hardy-Rix, Lincoln Davies from 'The Tuck Shop' in NYC - just some of the interesting additions to the Saturday Soiree so far. It's only going to get better from here,... Continue reading

Ladies and gentlemen! Although we know you wouldn't expect any less, we can confirm exclusively, right here, right now, that the boys will be at it again on Saturday from outside the MCG. Kicking off from 10am and handing over to the wonderful people of ABC Grandstand at midday, the Coodabeens will brave the elements and whatever the MCG has to throw at them all morning ("make sure your barcodes are facing up as you enter through Gate 2...") Then, would you believe it, the Coodabeen Champions will be back on your radio from 7pm to take your calls about... Continue reading

The Coodabeens were warmly welcomed to Rokewood-Corindhap in the Central Highlands footy league on the weekend. The sun shone, the brazier warmed and the sausage-bacon-egg-onion-and-coleslaw-in-white-bread sandwiches had to be seen to be believed! All photos taken by Coodabeen snappers for a day, Lily and Mim Balaam. Continue reading

Champs – if you’re going to car pool from Frankston to Meeniyan you’d better be in agreement whether you’re going to stay for a beer after the game or not, otherwise things could get ugly! Torch – The reason Bob Hammond got the job as coach of the Swans was through the Richmond mafia, Schwabby and Patto. Billy – Footy hasn’t been played on the Dumbalk oval for fifteen years Covey – Bob Hammond had three supermarkets! Footy is coming back in a big way and wherever footy is, the Coodabeens won't be far behind! The Coodabeens will be back like they've never been away on March 24th in the lead-up to the season opening GWS GIANTS v Sydney match on the Saturday night. One big thing has changed however - they're on at a NEW TIME! The Coodabeens footy show will now start at 10am AEST (check local guides) and run through until midday. The good news is that you'll get a whole five minutes more of fun (less news to be had). All the boys... Continue reading
