If you're a Sage ERP MAS 90 or 200 user you may have run into this issue once or twice. While trying to print a report you'll notice that the only printer which is displayed as selectable is DEFERRED. You will be able to view other printers on your Windows computer and most of them will be active. However when you go into MAS90 or MAS200 you find that the printers cannot be selected. Why is this? Solution? Usually it's because you have an invalid printer on your workstation. Most typically this will be a printer that it not even... Continue reading

Have you ever created a new report setting for a report in MAS90 or MAS200? If so you've probably noticed that the date will suddenly stop defaulting to today's date. Instead you'll likely see the last date used on the report. Some users prefer to have the date always default to the current day when they run these reports. With a little advance work you can fix your saved report and have the date always default. Want to know how? How to default saved report date in MAS90 to today's date Continue reading

CUSTOMERS EXPIRING PRIOR TO APRIL 12TH: There are no issues quoting or placing renewal orders on SSO for customers expiring prior to April 12th so feel free to continue processing those quotes and orders as usual. CUSTOMERS EXPIRING APRIL 12TH AND BEYOND: The new Business Care pricing has been applied to customers that expire April 12th and beyond. The new Business Care pricing is on the customer's renewal invoice they received from Sage and it is correct. The new Business Care pricing will be reflected on SSO on April 12th. So if you need to re-quote or place orders for... Continue reading

If you need to download FRX 6.7 Service Pack 11 (aka R11670) you can navigate directly to the Microsoft Knowledgebase via the link below. via www.s-consult.com If you've been searching for the lastest FRX Service Pack for Sage ERP MAS 90 and MAS 200 you probably noticed that Sage pulled every update from their web site. Sage did this not to be mean. They actually have to remove all the downloads due to a contract with Microsoft who has eliminated the ability to sell or provide updates as of January 31, 2011. When working on a client upgrade we generally break the work up into four separate phases. Each of these phases has different responsibilities. Phase 1 - Installation and Configuration (typically performed by us) Phase 2 - Testing of the upgrade (typically performed by you and us) Phase 3 - Go Live (typically performed by you and us) Phase 4 - Post Go Live support for a pre-arranged period of time Having a plan for the upgrade of your system ensures that all the proper work is reviewed and approved prior to making a decision to go live with your new... If you need to update your MAS 90 or MAS 200 system for year end payroll or accounts payable changes then you should log onto the Sage website and claim your copy of their latest Interim Release Disk (aka IRD). This download installs to any of the currently supported MAS 90 or MAS 200 versions. It slightly modifies only those program files needed to process year end forms and reports (1099 forms, Electronic Media, 941 supporting reports). The download is free for those on a Sage Basic Maintenance plan. For more information visit the link below. Sage ERP MAS90 IRD... Continue reading

Interesting update - I'm in a similar boat (bought the Samsung Focus although it replaced my BlackBerry 9700). I'm still using my iPhone/Droid X as well. I agree with your observations on the phone -- overall quality and smoothness of navigation (and stability) was quite frankly a shocking upside surprise. It's quite good. Where I think things really fall down for this OS is in the applications (depth and breadth). The eco-system will get a 6 month pass during which I think people will allow that it's new and don't judge it by lack of quality apps (I think the Palm Pre got a similar ride). After 6 months there need to be some improvements to OS or this platform is going to be one that only is attractive to people upgrading from "dumb" phones. Here's my consolidated observation list of things that are lacking (and I freely admit this is a 1.0 effort and they were lacking on iPhone 1.0 as well -- though I do think any manufacturer should be able to do better on launch than just a 1.0 product since they have the benefit of three years' of experience with observing the market and the apps): - Notifications - meh - Multi-tasking - this should have launched with the product. I don't much care that iPhone 1 didn't have it either. That was back years ago and all modern OS have multi-tasking. - Live tiles -- look cool. Please explain to me what all the flashing pictures on the people tile really do. So far as I can tell they're completely random. Most of the other tiles don't work or appear useful (save for Weather Channel which seems to show current weather). If MSFT was going to launch them as only half working -- well maybe they should have advertised that ... ;-) - Browser - I observed the same thing with techmeme. Doesn't anyone technical test these things? It's not like browser usability is a "hardly ever used feature" that Microsoft can lay back and fix sometime in the next three years. - The must have applications - Facebook, Twitter - are embarrassing. You can't view lists of other users in Twitter. The Facebook app supports the feature set that Facebook offered about three years ago. No, these two alone are just embarrassing. Remember we're not talking about the crew who bootstrapped the ill-fated Joo-Joo tablet -- this is Microsoft behind the OS. The mightiest (arguably) company in the tech world. And they can't get mobile any more right than "good enough" applications? I don't mention lack of applications or the fact that the integration of applications (sharing via Twitter for example) is substandard because hopefully those are more technical things that can improve. I'm rooting for Microsoft to land this OS in the top three of popular smartphone devices in the US -- and to do so I think we'll have to see rapid, massive improvements over the course of the coming year to both the OS and the application infrastructure.

Does improper formatting drive you crazy? Do you hate it when one part of your MAS 90 customer address is in mixed case - while another is all capitals. Here's what I'm talking about: Mr. John Smith 140 Main Street HARTFORD CT 060000 If you’ve had more than multiple people manage the entry of MAS90 or MAS200 customers and vendor addresses then you may have run into an issue where the address block is partly capitalized. You may notice that the name and street address are in lowercase while the city and state portion are all uppercase. This might be... Continue reading

Sage's replacement for the FRX Financial Report Writer is now available for download directly from the Sage website. Sage ERP MAS Intelligence - or SEMI for short - is a rebranded version of the Alchemex Business Intelligence Software. This Microsoft Excel based tool is different from FRX in that you can use all of your data files - not just the general ledger balances. Also the SEMI product relies on your own Microsoft Excel skills for crafting spreadsheet analysis of your data. While there are plenty of sample reports - it is definitely helpful to have some solid Excel skills... Continue reading

Sage has just released the first of many planned product updates for their MAS90 and MAS200 v4.40 accounting software. Unlike in the past when they referred to these releases as service updates - these collections of program patches will also include brand new functionality. For the first two years expect to see mostly Extended Solutions that Sage has rolled in from their now defunct enhancement catalog. Four times a year you can expect to see product updates released for MAS90 and MAS200 version 4.40+. These update will include program fixes as well as new functionality. The latest update has just... Continue reading

MAS 90 and MAS 200 are now officially Windows 7 compatible. At least that's the case if you're using version 4.30 or 4.4 of the product. Users of the latest version can benefit from two patches (over 300mb each) which Sage posted earlier this week. The program fixes appear to resolve a long standing issue with the paperless office feature which prints reports to PDF file. Under certain configurations, namely the 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, the feature displayed any number of errors and usually did not allow the printer driver to load. Users of earlier... Continue reading

Sage today released a road map for their Sage MAS 90 and MAS 200 accounting software. This guide is meant to give users an idea of the road ahead for the popular ERP Accounting Software. Among the new information contained in the document: Payroll is expected to be released in a SQL format - though the exact time frame is unknown and it remains to be seen if this will be an Abra off-shoot (likely) or a newly written module. A new MAS 200 SQL targeted initially at new customers (and only for framework modules) is expected to be introduced... Continue reading

Are you using an Extended Solution with Sage MAS 90 or MAS 200? Before loading the latest MAS 90 Service Update 17 for Version 4.3 you should check this list to see if an updated Extended Solution is required. In most cases you can simply install your old Extended Solution (ES) after applying Service Update 17.
