I'm a Southern girl so that means when you say Ice Tea I can only believe that you mean Sweet Tea. Because, otherwise, why bother? But living in California means that Sweet Tea is not a regular occurance. At home, I generally have a pitcher in my fridge, but being... Continue reading

Today I decided to try something fun with my nails and experimented with a little bit of a glitter gradiant. First I laid down some China Glaze "Turned up Turquoise" and then layered a couple of opalescent glitters over the tips. I quite like the effect and think I'll try this with all kinds of color combos! Also, are you on Vine? If so, add me - DollyDahl. My first post was a little show and tell of me creating the mermaid nails! Continue reading

Oh I've heard of Julep. Are you liking their polish? How's the coverage? xoxo Dolly

Not only is this the prettiest pink I've ever owned it also has the most amazing name - Disco Biscuit! I generally like my glitter polish to be obscenely glittery but I find myself really enjoying the subtleness of the sparkle in this one. Butter London polishes have a little higher price tag but I personally think they are worth every penny. This is my third shade from them and I couldn't be happier. Some shades are a little on the sheer side, like Disco Biscuit, but with 3 coats I was able to acheive great coverage. Butter has great... Continue reading

I'm so happy fall is making it's way to us now. I can feel the snap in the air during the early morning and at night. It's still pretty warm during the day but since I'm inside for most of that I pretend it's cold outside. The power of the mind! Colder temps mean I can have more fun with my clothes. I have always loved coats and tights! Bag: Kate Spade Shoes: Old Navy (!!!) Coat: Anthropologie Dress: Kensie Tights: H&M Shoes: Payless (and so comfy!!) Ring: Cute store in Japantown Glasses: Ray-Ban Dress: H&M Tights: Forever 21 Shoes:... Continue reading

I loved the Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 show yesterday. His designs were bold with graphic stripes carried through silhouettes of different decades. Image Credit So there is no way I can afford to rush right out and by those designs but I felt inspired by the show and found some vintage pieces that would no doubt inspire Marc himself! Ok so this isn't exactly getting the look on a budget but how could I pass up such an amazing Vintage Jean Paul Gaultier dress? Perhaps I could interest you in some Horizontal Stripes of a mod persuasion. You know what's... Continue reading

In a bit of a hair rut? Well, then I've got just the thing. Check out this amazing short from 1962. It left me craving a bit of a space age update. Also I obviously need to find a new salon where they wear CAPES and set my hair using sparklers! Uh hello! Continue reading

If there are two things you know about me they should be: 1- I'm in love with the 60's. 2- I'm obsessed with 60's air travel. Knowing those two things this video should come as no surprise. Wait, what's that? You love the music in that video? Me too. It's by the very awesome Syd Dale. This is another of my favorites from him. Continue reading

Today would have been Jackie's 83rd birthday. My interest in Jackie has been renewed lately. I've been reading Mrs Kennedy and Me by Clint Hill for the last week. It's fascinating. If you are at all interested in Jackie I highly recommend this book. It's a very respectful and interesting look at life for the former first lady during the White House years. It's written by the Secret Service agent that was assigned to her during that time and you can tell that he formed a very special bond with her. I also recently finished the miniseries The Kennedys. This... Continue reading

July has been a super colorful month for me and I couldn't be happier about it. I seem to have started taking awkward outfit photos via this strange angle. I normally take them on my walk to work while balancing an iphone and a cappucino. I was so sad when the Missoni for Target line flew out the door within minutes but my patience was rewarded when I found the exact sweater I had been pining for at my favorite Crossroads Trading Company (which, by the way, is this one. But please don't go and buy things in my size... Continue reading

So I know she's controversial and many people hate her but I ADORE Lana Del Rey. Her latest video has, not surprisingly, generated some negative chatter but it gave me chills. Also, she is totally channeling my style direction in this video. She nails it perfectly. If I could have that gorgeous blue dress with the sheer sleeves I would be one happy gal. Now, some screencaps of my favorite looks! The dress! EEK! These aren't from the video but I love these pictures. Continue reading

Thanks Serena! Funnily enough, this post DID help me and I haven't touched my bangs. It even inspired me to chop my hair into a bob. I think I need to do a follow up post called "Thank you Megan Draper" hahaha xoxo Dolly

Ohhh I've found a new favorite polish. Dear Essie Playdate, I love you! It might be a while before you see me changing the color. This also looks really awesome on my toes. I actually think this would be really cute with some gold glitter over it so I might try that next. Continue reading

So today's look pretty much illustrates my current style direction. I'm in love with 60s Palm Beach Chic. Headbands, bright sheath dresses, headscarves, and bold patterns. My dress is the Delia from Lilly Pulitzer and I'm in LOVE. I think this is my new favorite dress. I have to say, I'll probably be stocking up on dresses from Lilly from now on. She has this look down perfectly. I think my favorite feature (besides the awesome print) is the tiny little bows at the hem! My cardigan is from Target and I've had it for over a year now. It's... Butters & Nomi showed off their fancy new bandanas. I had a nice visit with Lemmy the Lemon while at the movie theatre. We saw Prometheus. Have you seen it yet? I chopped off a few inches of hair and enjoyed the beating sun and a little wind against my bare neck! In preparation for the new Dallas I decided to revisit some old ones. It was surprising how much I remembered! Also, the FASHION! I've been doing really well on Weight Watchers. Since starting I'm down 6.5 lbs! One of the reasons it's going so well is because I... When it comes to my hair I've always had a bit of a short attention span. I've had it every color of the rainbow and pretty much every style I can think of. If I'm sad, excited, bored, or even unbelievably happy I have to change my hair. And so, last week, I decided to make another change. I chopped it all off into a cute little bob. I love it! I was so excited about it that I had to snap a pic right there in the changing room of the Salon! Hanabi at the Gina Khan Salon in... Continue reading

Lately I've been taking a break from the myriad of glitter polishes I own to experiment with some new shades. This polish is an oldie but a goodie and has been hanging out in my nail polish drawer for awhile without any love. Silly me. Now that I've finally tried it, I LOVE it. Even though Essie Mint Candy Apple is from the 2009 Winter collection it feels perfect for a fun mod look in the summer! Unfortunately, it's no longer available on the Essie website but I did find plenty available on Amazon if you decide you'd like to... Continue reading

I got to go to E3 last year. I think the highlight for me was meeting Cooking Mama. HAHA. I actually squealed when I saw her and made her take a picture with me. xoxox
