This terrific Planet of the Apes cake was made by Jatt gourmet in Mexico City. This awesome cake features Dr. Zaius who was sculpted from fondant. The cake itself was a lemon cake with a lemon crème filling. The figure of Dr. Zaius is simply wonderful. Believe it or not, there was period of time in the 1970s where the two major science fiction franchises were Star Trek and Planet of the Apes. Most people don’t realize that there was a day and age where the apes where that popular. Both Star Trek and PotA were on TV regularly, had... Continue reading

This absolutely wonderful Baby Bizarro Cake was made by Cynthia Designs Cakes. To understand why this cake is so cool, you need to know a little about Bizarro. The problem is the origin of Bizarro is more than a little bizarre. To start with, there are two different people who could have created Bizarro. Superboy 68 featured a story written by Otto Binder about an imperfect duplicate of Superboy called Bizarro. He dies at the end of the story to restore a blind girls sight. Shortly afterwards, an adult Bizarro appears in the Superman newspaper strip. Here is his first... Continue reading

Robert, Glad you enjoyed the post. Flash had some terrific covers during the Silver Age. Besides the Flash puppet, the other thing I really like about the cover to Flash 133 is that it is a poster of Abra Kadabra casting the spell. Karen
Mark, The thing I like about the cover to Jimmy Olsen 98 is that it mixes so many different things. DC produced a slew covers where someone was marrying a monster. This one puts a unique spin on that by adding the gorilla and a Tarzan theme. Plus, Superman the Witch Doctor is just so strange. Karen
