Too bad - To rehabilitate his career, I think Mel would be excellent in a cameo appearance on Entourage, or a Showtime production. He is still a good actor, entertaining, although he comes off like an allegedly racist, violent nut-job. The calls to his soon-to-be-ex are actually pretty humorous and obviously the product of a person not dealing well with severe personal and emotional issues. He is not a criminal.
Mel Gibson is still persona non grata in Hollywood
Just three days after word leaked out that Mel Gibson would enjoy a cameo in "The Hangover 2" as a tattoo artist in Thailand, the troubled actor has been told his services will not be needed after members of the production rebelled. In a statement released Thursday by Warner Bros. and producin...
Hey, now I have a good reason to vote for Jerry Brown - he tells the truth, no matter how unpopular it is. It's true - Meg Whitman is a wh@%e!
An associate of Jerry Brown calls Meg Whitman a "whore" over pension reform (AUDIO)
In a private conversation that was inadvertently taped by a voicemail machine (audio below), an associate of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown can be heard referring to his Republican opponent Meg Whitman as a “whore” for cutting a deal protecting law enforcement pensions as the two...
Is this supposed to be a surprise? Of course the Chamber of Commerce supports her! Don't you guys at the LA Times get it? The Chamber is not some type of mutual or communal organization of do-gooders -- it's simply a lobbying and policy promoting organization supporting and paid for by Big Business (a.k.a. HP types, etc.) The Chamber's policy positions (and lack of positions) are clearly not crafted to protect the little, individually owned, partnership, or small S-corp business. Hence, Ms. Fiorina (openly pro Big Business) receives their unflagging support.
Fiorina's Senate bid gets a boost as U.S. Chamber of Commerce backs the GOP nominee
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Monday endorsed Republican U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina, who is setting out on a two-day, six-stop tour of California to highlight the group’s backing and aspects of her economic agenda. Bill Miller, the U.S. Chamber’s senior vice president and national pol...
The LA Times needs to report on what this is really all about - a self-absorbed, spoiled, undeservingly wealthy young adult who feels she does not need to be fully accountable to society, or the rule of law.
Throw her rear-end in jail like the average working class folks and fine the he// out of her for disobeying and wasting the time of the court, police, probation office, and the justice system. No sympathy - no breaks; make her pay the full price for her behavior.
Lohan says fingernail expletive was a joke, not a jab at judge
Actress Lindsay Lohan wrote Wednesday that an expletive visible on her fingernail during the court hearing where she got 90 days in jail was a joke unrelated to the Beverly Hills case. Lohan wrote on her Twitter account that the vulgarity on her middle fingernail "had nothing to do w/court. It...
Good for Conan. A cool $40 mil will be enough to hole him over during his job hunt. I always felt he performed under the shado of Jay Leno who has a different (and I hate to admit) somewhat dated style -- more akin to Johnny carson than the more contemporary show hosts and comedians. There will be opportunities in due time.
After the NBC late-night bloodbath: What is Conan O'Brien's future?
I've been following the NBC late-night meltdown just like everyone else, watching all the jokes about it on TV--Jimmy Kimmel's sharp-elbowed appearance on Jay Leno being the highlight--along with the kibitzing from network elders, ranging from Fred Silverman--who heaped blame on NBC Universal ch...
Who to blame? Blame a society whose values have shifted to demand immediate gratification, short term results, and a constant stream of stimulating commercial offerings. Its just like the stock market - an obsession on immediate, short-term quarterly performance. Who cares if the institution has prospered, served the community, and provided steady employment for decades or more? When compared to what are perceived to be its peers, when it turns what are deemed to be unimpressive repeated quarterly results, it is dropped like a hot potato.
So goes the fate of now closed, old-school restaurants.
Hey everybody! Tacko-Hut has a new flavor burrito - lets go!
Restaurant critics club baby seals and cheat on their taxes
I went to a lecture last night, a conversation between Andy Huse, Richard Gonzmart and Gary Mormino about the recent release of Huse’s exciting new book, The Columbia Restaurant: Celebrating a Century of History, Culture, and Cuisine. An entertaining and educational evening for the most part, al...
Like most other major professional sports, Indy Car (fka CART) relies upon shallow nonsense to promote their sport, as opposed to showcasing stories of true talent which beat the odds, or overcome other personal or professional challenges to excel in the sport.
Danica is playing the role of "good looking bad-girl", which is promoted by the media (to the exclusion of any relevant driver information) and eagerly consumed by the masses of shallow "fans" they pander to.
If the media focused on her driving statistics and how she came to land an IndyCar ride and sponsorship, it would be a whole different story. I am not saying that she did not work hard and stand-out as a child driver in carting (with extensive father-coaching), but it would just be a different story.
She is no doubt a talented driver in many ways, but would probably perform better in a different racing venue. Unfortunately the media-sponsorship money machine has her locked into IRL, where her most notable feat was showing off her body and tramp-stamp in SI.
Danica Patrick to remain with IRL
Danica Patrick has signed a three-year contract to continue driving in the IndyCar series, according to several reports, ending the speculation that she might cross over full time to NASCAR. Patrick, according to the Indianapolis Star News, last weekend agreed to remain with Andretti Green R...
