I just got mine in the mail today! Post offices arent automatically sent the newest stamps. Individual offices place their own orders and often wont purchase new stamps until they run out of their old stock. This is why I order mine online. The small service charge is worth it for me to have the stamps I want when I want them.
Stamp Release: Vintage Seed Packets
I feel like I have at least five pen pals who think that the U.S.P.S. created these stamps specifically for them. I haven't seen so much anticipation for a stamp set maybe ever. People are seriously excited for the Vintage Seed Packets stamps! Here's some more info on the stamps from Beyond t...
Im glad you got to go!
The Postcard Age at the MFA Boston
Member Andy sent us a link to what seems like a fabulous exhibit going on at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. It's called The Postcard Age. From their website: "In the decades around 1900, postcards were Twitter, e-mail, Flickr, and Facebook, all wrapped into one. A postcard craze swept the...
Perhaps thats a little white lie on their part as Ive seen the stamps showing up on mail already! Hopefully theyll have them for you soon.

Women of Letters
Women of Letters is a lecture series and now a book curated by Marieke Hardy and Michaela McGuire. "Some of Australia’s finest dames of stage, screen and page have delivered missives on a series of themes, collected here for the first time. Claudia Karvan sends ‘A love letter’ to love itself,...
It would be news to me! My people are relatively new to this country by way of Germany and Ireland.
Two Dangerous Things
Keen-eyed member Lisa sent over a fascinating link from Lapham's Quarterly-- Post Secrets by Angela Serratore. The article opens with a quote from an 1867 magazine: “The post-office system offers a facility for clandestine correspondence which no respectable father or mother on the European...
I updated it and it should work now, but just in case, you can copy and paste this into the browser: www.postable.com/letterwritersalliance
Postable
(Fantastic address book photo at right by moarplease on Flickr, used under a Creative Commons license.) I have heard nothing but good things about Postable. It's an online way to collect addresses from your contacts. They simply follow your link and add their information to your book. Your ad...
Perhaps you missed the Global Forever mention in the bottom right corner. I didnt put how much additional it was because it was different for Mexica & Canada. Now, its only different for Canada in certain situations and Mexico falls in with all the other countries.
USPS Rate Increase Chart
Stamps and other mail services go up in price today! Inspired by Annie of Scribbling Glue, I made this handly little rate chart for the new prices effective on the 27th of January. I hope you find it helpful!
This blog entry should tell you all about it Emilie! The short answer is yes, they do remailings: http://16sparrows.typepad.com/letterwritersalliance/2012/10/olathe-postes-special-cancellations-for-the-holidays.html
Holiday Card Comedown
By now, I think all "Winter" holiday cards have been sent. If you're sending them out past January, I think they become Valentines. It's some sort of cosmic law. Friend and Member Kimberly had a post over on her blog, Kimberly At Home, about her holiday cards. She makes her own and has for years...
Funny enough, Ive got drawings to post and I just havent gotten around to scanning them. Its not dead. Its just sleeping...

Thats a great question. I have no idea. I have a suspicion that it has something to do with business mail, but I dont really know.
Stamp Issues: Kalidescope Flowers, Year of the Snake, & Apples
Released today are these 46 cent beauties. They're available on a coil and currently only sold in rolls of 3,000 and 10,000. "Flowers are among the most popular subjects for collectors and the stamp-buying public. In a modern twist on a perennial favorite, the Kaleidoscope Flowers stamps comb...
That happened to me with the bobcats. I got a batch that just was not well printed. Perhaps you can compare yours at the PO? Maybe they will switch them for you?
Stamp Releases: Spicebush Swallowtail & Tufted Puffin
Say what you will about postal rate increases, they always seem to herald a bunch of new stamp designs, which is alright by me. Released today are the following beautiful stamps; the Spicebush Swallowtail & the Tufted Puffins. More information on these is available at Beyond the Perf. There...

It's a big, long stamper with the whole alphabet on three runners. I took pictures! Probably should have written out the links in the post, but : http://www.flickr.com/photos/donovan_beeson/5519598815/

Thanks for looking around Galina. I don't think it's on the web. I think it's one of those things you have to have seen. And while the Tenniel illustrations are great, but they aren't in ballpoint, they are pen and ink.

I'm able to find more tapes on ebay and at some non-chain office supply stores. I heard tell of a cache of tapes at Patrick & Co. in San Francisco.
