I just love it when you take these quiet and soft pictures of vignettes around your home. I have many similar spots and I do find my house and the things I have accumulated to make it a home, deeply personal and comforting.
So nice to know others feel the same and have a place to touch base within your blog-world.

Thoughts on Working at Home
The first thing to go is the cooking. When I get really busy, there's nothing to eat around here. I try not to let this happen but it always happens. And since, when I'm this busy, I'm usually always at home, I just need to get out anyway. I seriously considered thanking the staff of the NE W...
isn't she just precious though? These are great photos that you will appreciate all the more through the years...
Two Balloons
Yesterday we had a party for my daughter's 5th birthday in my parents' backyard. It was an awfully sweaty day with unbearable humidity, but she didn't seem to mind. (I'm not going to complain about the southern Ontario summers because I hear it's been 13-15 degrees back in England, that is ...
Wonderful! I especially love the blue (forget-me-nots perhaps?) on the rocks...
The Gorgeous Gardens of Cragside Pt. 2 (Plus a Really Cool House)
Carrying on from yesterday's garden post here are more flowers from our visit to Cragside's formal garden and photos of the house itself which I find hard to believe was built in 1863 but my husband doesn't. Being afraid of heights I got a bit fr...
I just purchased a copy of The Better Homes and Gardens Story Book circa 1950. We had a family copy of this when I was growing up in our limited cache of children's books. This is a gem because it has a little of everything - Edward Lear poem's to Palmer Cox brownies to Rudyard Kipling and A A Milne. My absolute favorite is a story at the end of the book about how for one magical day, all the dolls in one town come alive...
The Start
Books were my earliest friends. My mother read to me early and constantly. I had a huge set of Little Golden Books with records and a little turquoise-blue 7" record player and I played the records constantly. I picture this in my grandparents' apartment building, so I must have been less tha...
I love how the teacups have the blurry pattern of old "flow blue" china! Brilliant!
Cupcake Monday! The Chocolate Teacups and Cupcakes Edition
I've been collecting Easter goodies for my daughter for a little while, trying to find some things beyond the usual chocolate bunnies (though I did get some of those, too, it's not Easter without bunnies!). Last year we were living in Paris at this time and her chocolates came from a place th...
Hi Alicia,
I know this isn't really related, but this Etsy listing made me think of you.

hi alicia,
apologies for this not being about the darling wee spuds, but I didn't see this site link in your list and i think even though it is French you would love it as I do.

Thank you!
Thank you so much for the baby potato love — so many yummy ideas! I am crazy busy the next couple of days but I will be back soon to show you what we did with them, I promise. :-)
