I'm thinking you're going to have to come up with another description of Anne. She seems to have surpassed Geek adjacent...
Would you kindly enjoy this memory from PAX East?
I've been watching a lot of Doctor Who lately. I just started watching Daleks in Manhattan, and the 1930s recording of Putting on the Ritz they play near the top of the show reminded me of something cool that happened at PAX East that I meant to write about, but never did. The con was over, and ...
You are not alone in KC! My friends and I, who are also too poor to buy plane tickets, would love to see Wootstock within driving distance...Oklahoma City was the last place to host a con that I'm aware of.
"In a lot of ways, for me, W00tstock felt like finally finding a home base."
When Paul and Storm and Adam Savage and I had our first conversations about what would become w00tstock, we knew that we wanted to put on an entertaining show for our fellow nerds that would be successful enough to warrant more than the three shows we originally planned. Sunday and Monday, we're...
The shows over here in the central time zone and let me just ask...can Evil Wil get and more Evil?
It was a really great episode and I hope they have you back again soon. There are more stories to be had with this rivalry and it sounds like everyone really has fun when you're on the set.
Oh yea...Where can I get my own Westley's Crusher bowling shirt?
The Wheaton Recurrence
It's Sunday afternoon as I write this. I can't publish this manually, because if I've read my call sheet correctly, I'm currently playing Dr. Isaac Parrish on Eureka. If we're on schedule, I'm working in a scene with Erica, Colin, and Neil. If my experience on the show so far is any indication, ...
Some where...anywhere near the middle of the country. Some where between the Rockies & the Mississippi....PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!
in which w00tstock 2.0 and 2.0.1 are announced
When we did w00tstock 1.x last year, we all hoped it would be successful enough to warrant taking the show on the road to some of our favorite cities. Well, w00tstock 1.x was so much fun for us and the audiences who saw it, it didn't just warrant it, it WINGER'd it. Hell, it may even have Damn Y...
I had this picture on my bedroom wall! Wesley Crusher & Wil Wheaton pics outnumbered everyone else 2/1 .
I'd buy a mug with this on it in a nanosecond!
for those of you wondering what time it is...
(Thanks to my friend C., who made this when I needed a bit of cheering up.)
No one wanted to work today so I intoduced your website & podcasts to a couple of unsuspecting co-workers . I know one ordered MOTF from work and both couldn't wait to get home to add MOTF & RFB to their podcast lists. I laugh & giggle a lot when I have you on so these posts were a really great way to intoduce your fantastic writing to some people who have been wondering about my sanity for some time now.
It's been a great year Wil. Thanks for inviting us along and remeber if we ever reach all the goals we set for ourselves, we are aiming too low.
OMG--did I really just say that....I need my new Despair/ThinkGeek calendar to get here soon. I'm losing my snark!
Happy New Year to you and yours! And I really do beleive the goal thing no matter how sappy it is :-)
the 2009 year in review, part six
This post is not a number, it is a free man. It also continues my 2009 year in review from part five, and concludes this obscenely long series of posts that I hope was worth the time I put into creating them. I revealed a fairly major secret, and there was much rejoicing. Yaaay. About 24 hours ...
I loved this. Christmas does not begin in our house until after Thanksgiving and we start every holiday season with A Charlie Brown Christmas on Thanksgiving night. It helps get us off on the right track since we've been bombarded with commercialism crap since before Halloween. Keeping Christmas focused on the truly important things with teens can be really hard, but I'm so proud when my girls talk about what's special to them during the holidays and it's never about stuff. It's always about the people. I'm glad you and Anne get to have that warm fuzzy I AM doing a good job raising them feeling too.
Have a joy filled weekend and stay safe in your travels everyone!
From the Vault: surrounded by the joy of the season
In December of 2001, Anne I were really struggling financially. It had already been a pretty lousy year, as far as work went, and after September 11th, things only got worse. As Christmas got closer, it was clear that we simply couldn't afford to put many things under the tree for our kids, let...
These really made my morning:-) Thanks everyone. Please be safe in your travels and have a great weekend with your family and friends.
the twelve days of pirate christmas
Reader Brian B. sent me this yesterday, and it made me smile so much, I secured permission to share it. "The Twelve Days of Pirate Christmas" On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me ... 12 ships to plunder, 11 cannons firing, 10 crewmen leaping, 9 sharks a' swimming, 8 rum-...
Thanks! It made me happy too :D

I once wrote a Geek in Review, called 8 Bits High and Rising (Content SFW; Site is NSFW), about my love of the Nintendo Entertainment System. I liked it so much, I adapted a great deal of it for my keynote address to PAX in 2007. Here's part of it that's relevant to this post: I was invited to ...
My daughter walked in while I was watching Toy Soldiers last night and asked if that was Wil. I told her it was, but not to get too excited, he'd be dead in about 5 minutes. So sad. They've been running it on and off so maybe she'll get to see the whole thing soon.
Anyway, I don't twitter. Hospital pharmacies are usually in the basements, and we have zero bars in the dungeon. But for a live feed/commentary from Wil, I'd sign up in a nanosecond.
It would be really cool for those of us stuck in areas of the country that rarely have a chance to see you in person.

I was watching both shows back then and totally miss this obvious connection. I was 16 and working at Sears at the time....perhaps I was distracted by trying to make sure all of the pieces of the Wesley Crusher sweater collection where properly displayed.
BTW....I think evil Wil would make a great addition to the cast if they do a Dr Horrible 2!
in which the secret identity of wesley crusher is revealed
Imagine if Television Without Pity recappers had been writing about TNG back in 1987, only with more swearing, more digressions and more geeky in-jokes, plus behind-the-scenes memories for every episode. That’s what Vol. 1 does for the first half of the first season of TNG, from “Encounter at Fa...
Loved the clip show! Still sad that next week is the last MoTF.
Comforted by your decission to start doing RFB again. Not sure I could handle the withdrawl from the weekly Wheaton habit I've developed. Don't really want too :-)
Memories of the Futurecast Episode 13: The [Worst | Best]. Episode. Ever.
Holy crap! It's time for Memories of the Futurecast. Memories of the Future, Volume One, covers the first 13 episodes of TNG, so each week, I'm choosing something from one episode, and performing an excerpt for you. It will mostly be from the synopses, which is where I think the real humor of th...
Another great podcast Wil. Haven & Justice are definately my favs so far. I love Majel as Lwaxana. I've always thought it must have been a really fun role to play. I was aslo really glad I only had peach-mango tea to drink while I listened today. It's usually something a little stronger and I am NOT Keith Richards. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when we finish the first book. Thursday sucks in my world so I save your podcast to bring me back up at the end of the day. I love reading along. Thanks for working on Sunday for us!
Memories of the Futurecast Episode Eleven: Haven
Holy crap! It's time for Memories of the Futurecast. Memories of the Future, Volume One, covers the first 13 episodes of TNG, so each week, I'm choosing something from one episode, and performing an excerpt for you. It will mostly be from the synopses, which is where I think the real humor of th...
Hi Wil & Riley!
I think Hide & Q was defintley a high point for Season 1 and while that's not saying much it did give us something to hang on to.
John DeLancie is awesome as Q, that's not an illusion!
Your Robot Devil does need some work.
The LHC stuff makes more sense after about 4 vodkas, but doesn't everything :-)
Memories of the Futurecast Episode Ten: Hide and Q
Holy crap! It's time for Memories of the Futurecast. Memories of the Future, Volume One, covers the first 13 episodes of TNG, so each week, I'm choosing something from one episode, and performing an excerpt for you. It will mostly be from the synopses, which is where I think the real humor of th...
Hi Wil,
I'm a week behind due to H1N1 swine flu :-( but wanted to let you know that you're right...the adults didn't get the Wesley character, but those of us who were 13-16 thought he was the coolest dude ever! Imagine a universe where the kid really does know more than the adults! It was a dream. (oh to be as brilliant as I was at 16). So now the perspective has changed. Yes, as an adult, Wesley is annoying , but it's obvious it the writing, not you! No kid really talks like that out loud--in thier heads maybe, but never out loud!
BTW-This does span the generations. As I introdced by daughters to Trek, they too LOVED and related to Wesley.
I'd also like to say that have both the audio & hard copies of reading of JAG & Hd. PLEASE do an audio of MoTF! Your reading w/ extras add so much to the experience.
Memories of the Futurecast Episode Nine: The Battle
Holy crap! It's time for Memories of the Futurecast. Memories of the Future, Volume One, covers the first 13 episodes of TNG, so each week, I'm choosing something from one episode, and performing an excerpt for you. It will mostly be from the synopses, which is where I think the real humor of t...
I so wish you'd come to the mid-west and do this sometime. I also love that it's for Child's Play Charity! My hospital is one that receives donations from CPC and it makes such a difference in making the lives of our kids more normal.
Wil Wheaton's 2009 Dwarven Dungeon Delve of Doom! Benefitting the Child's Play Charity
I'm about to head out to RinCon, and before I left, I wanted to make sure I let everyone attending know that I'm doing what I think will be a pretty awesome fundraiser for Child's Play while I'm there. First, some history: Way back in the olden days, when 8 bits were enough to blow your mind on ...
The most awsome Nimoy pic ever! Squee! I can't wait for MOTF next week.
this is the coolest picture you'll see all day
Well it's been a wonderfully busy week, and now it's over. I finished Big Bang Theory on Tuesday, spent much of Wednesday wishing I was still working with them, and then recorded the voice of Mr. Qubit for the IRREDEEMABLE motion comic yesterday. Since I'm too busy to write up the stuff that nee...
Great podcast Wil! I can't wait for this book! Sorry about the bulldozers but they gave me a great B-Day present by delaying you for a day:-)
Memories of the Futurecast: Episode Four
From the better-late-than-never department, it's time for Memories of the Futurecast. Memories of the Future, Volume One, covers the first 13 episodes of TNG, so each week, I'm choosing something from one episode, and performing an excerpt for you. It will mostly be from the synopses, which i...
