we have a bright future but honestly I cant wait for kevin olsen. Morris doesnt have great Football intellegience and he is really clumsy.
Golden after heartbreaking Virginia loss: "It's really important we don't splinter"
The Hurricanes are back at .500 following a heartbreaking 41-40 loss on the road at Virginia. Of all five UM losses this season, this one will probably haunt UM coach Al Golden and his assistant coaches the most. UM (5-5, 4-3 ACC) had a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter, and then a five-point ...
I think next year we should win 10 games and the following year we should be up for a NC title bid.
Golden put a pretty good class together last minute his first year, followed by this year's freshman. This offense should fill the spots. I think once we get a full off-season for guys like Earl Moore, Dequan Ivery, Jelani Hamilton, Deon Bush, Duke, etc. We will be much better. Every game we are on field, we look like kids compared to grown men.
D'Onofrio says he doesn't hold grudges; Luther apologizes; plus other Canes/Cain notes from Saturday
Hurricanes defensive tackle Luther Robinson, whose father took to the radio airwaves earlier this week and accused UM coach Al Golden of favoring his own recruits over the players former coach Randy Shannon brought in, said Saturday he's apologized to his head coach and his teammates and is look...
Dallas Crawford, here is your chance. Gionni Paul got so much better, I hope he doesnt screw up

Coach Golden says. "If you feel you should start, go and take whats yours."
Good pointm maybe ot has been hurt this year.
At this point, should we try and just get a redshirt for Curtis Porter?
Grimble is no at De??? Shows how much star rankings mean. He was a 4 or 5 star in nevada and cant beat out 3 star florida kids. BTW, sileo rants we dont recruit good linemen. Mccord and Jelani were also considered 5 stars.
NEWS: New UM Canes depth chart for VaTech; RB E. Clements out for rest of season
Good morning. First, the injury news: third-year junior tailback Eduardo Clements, one of the most devoted and hard-working Canes that I have come across, is out for the season with an injury not yet disclosed to us. Feel so bad for him and the team. In seven games this season, Eduardo had 16 ca...
seriously, Coach D put in dl from temple into the pros who are productive. he has a line of fresh and soph. He is playing jelani, earl moore, corey king (who didnt really practice in august), tyriq mccord (undersized), Dequan Ivery, plus Curtis Porter has been out. None of these kids have had a full season of weight training. Golden and Coach d sad this before the season. Stay patient, these kids have to fill out. Golden himself said he wants to redshirt most players but we dont have luxury. He has a last minute recruiting class he put together, then last years, and now this years to fill up more depth. When these kids in this years class our juniors, we should have no reason not to play for a national title. Lets focus on acc title game.
Fisch talks drops, Duke, Stephen Morris, Carolina D
Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch discussed the Notre Dame game and looked ahead to this week's North Carolina matchup on Monday. The Hurricanes (4-2, 3-0 in ACC) were plagued by drops against the Irish. Fisch agreed drops seem to be the only real negative that has affected his offense this seaso...
Golden is able to tap into something. Ben Jones, Davon Johnson, Streeter, Jacory, etc. They respond to him. Arthur Brown we were told was not good enough to get on the feild and he is now looking at being a 1st round pick. Trust me, I seen what he did at temple.
UM Canes WR Malcolm Lewis "done'' for season; Punter Dalton Botts has sprained ankle
Just got off the phone from teleconference with UM coach Al Golden: *Wide receiver Malcolm Lewis is "done'' for the season, but Golden said he believes Lewis will qualify for a medical hardship waiver. That would be great and it would mean this year would count as a redshirt year. Golden said he...
Let's not forget Denzel didnt play. I also didnt remember seeing much VT. Must give props to Gaines.
Tracy needs to relax and focus. You have Deon, Duke, flowers, and malcolm before he got hurt playing at a higher level. Bush is a stud just like Duke.
Last year's recruiting class got us some special peices like Dorset, EJ, Denzel, and Chick. This years class is building on that. Next year's has to due the same.
You can see why these kids love this staff so much and Golden gets stuff out of kids like Streeter and Jacory that RS couldn't. He ran over to malcolm and was holding him like he was his son.
Come-from-behind win at Georgia Tech proves these Canes have heart
It was one thing for the Hurricanes to rally back from a 14-0 deficit in the first quarter at Boston College in the season opener. What UM did against Georgia Tech Saturday was much different. It was on another level. How many teams blow a 19-zip lead, give up 36 unanswered points, and come back...
Hopefully Gionni steps up like he did last week because we have seen Gaines and he is nothing more than a back up. (ex. Kacy Rogers) Our LB core has a chance to be really good next year, Denzel, Johnson, Gionni, Kirby, Terry, etc.
Perryman expected to be out for Georgia Tech; Duke named ACC Rookie of Week again; Seantrel could win a starting job this week
Barring a huge surprise, the Miami Hurricanes will be without starting middle linebacker Denzel Perryman when they play at Georgia Tech Saturday. Perryman has a deeply bruised high ankle sprain -- according to someone close to him -- that will keep him out at least a week if not longer. He has ...
I would have liked to seen ryan williams get some time earlier. Take Duke and Clive's big play out of the offense and morris we havent done much this season. I feel like morris is very clumsy out there and not commanding.

Come on with the upperclassmen. Porter is always hurt, Robinson starts one game and throws a fit, VT just doesnt get it, Ray Ray gets throws off the team. Look at the way Denzel and Eddie Johnson have played, they are golden recruits. Temple was really at the bottom, throw out of big east, told to give up football. Even at Virginia Golden moved their Defense up almost 100 spots. I remember no one wanted Jimmy Johnson or Dennis Erickson, I remember when people wanted Butch out. You really need for this upper classmen to be gone to change the culture.
When it comes to fixing UM's defense D'Onofrio is thinking long term, not immediate
Here is the longer version of my story set to run in Tuesday's paper. They rank 109th in pass defense and scoring defense, 89th against the run and 114th in total defense out of 120 teams in major college football. Hurricanes assistant head coach Mark D’Onofrio is well aware just how awful his un...
Don't tell to zip it monday morning quarterback.
Temple was kicked out of the big east and he was recruiting fcs and basketball players to fill spots and they made bowl games. This is his first recruiting class. Guys like Smith and Pierre were basically fill in spots. If this was next year, I would agree 100% with you but I say wait until next year. You are not winning ACC title or NC's with undersized 18 year old d-linemen. Our best players are fresh and soph. U dont change culture overnight
New Miami Hurricanes Depth Chart for Bethune-Cookman game just released -- and there are changes
Coach Al Golden just released his newest depth chart for the Bethune-Cookman game. If you didn't know by now, starting receiver Allen Hurns (concussion) and starting safety Vaughn Telemaque (knee) are out for the game. Fifth-year senior Ramon Buchanan is done for the season, and possibly his c...
Do you guys have any idea the job Golden has done in the past along with Coach D? The players he groomd at Virginia, BC, Penn Sate, etc

Go on twitter, I am convinced this staff is the right staff. The kids all changed their names to brickbybrick and their numbers. Kids like Deon Bush and Duke are apologzing to the fans. Duke and Dorsett are challegning each other to work harder. This is something we have not seen from this program in the past. THese new kids arent afraid of hard work. In the past, it was like kids could care less. You don't change the culture overnight. This is Golden's first real class.
Al Golden's Sunday transcript following K-State loss
Here is the complete transcript of Al Golden's Sunday press conference following the 52-13 loss at Kansas State > Where are you as a team after Saturday's loss... "I think we're 1-1. Obviously we didn't play well. I thought Kansas State -- give them credit -- played flawless. Their quarterback w...
You people have no idea what you are talking about. How many players did coach d, franklin, terry richardson turn into nfl players?
Coach Golden has had one real class come in so far. Is Deon Bush a getting this much player time at Bama right now? Is Duke? We are young, undersized, and inexperienced. You don't change culture overnight. You guys got mad Shannon always fired everyone and now you want Coach D, gone right away. The foundation of this team is Golden's recruits, who believe in the system, and the kids coming in like Keith Bryant, Artie Burns, Jamal Carter, Kevin Olsen, etc.
Grading the Canes - Week 2: Are Canes' defensive woes personnel, D'Onofrio's scheme or both?
Remember last week when Al Golden told his players to savor that win at Boston College? Hope you did, too. Saturday's 52-13 blowout loss at Kansas State was an eye-opener for Canes fans who didn't take the 500-plus yards BC rolled up as a huge warning that trouble could be on the horizon for de...
This is golden's first real recruiting class. We are on a good path for next year too. Talk to me a year from now when Malcolm Lewis is our #1 receiver and Duke is our #1 rb. When Flowers and McDermott are a year older. Next year after a full off-season Earl Moore, Jelani Hamilton, and Dequan Ivery will be bigger and stronger. Our Lb's will be Kirby, Perryman, and Eddie Johnson all with more experience. Same as seconday with Bush, Howard, etc. Seriously, who do this young kids have to mentor them. VT, McGee, etc? Golden offered Darius Smith a spot after signing day, Ambrister and Pierre were signed to fill spots and be back ups. Did he expect Luther to be a baby? Did he expect Porter, who plays hard when healthy to always be hurt? Did he expect Ojomo not to get an extra year or Vernon and Fortson (who is an underacheiver) to bail. By the time, this class is juniors, we will be back in BCS hunt. You cant minimize what they did at Temple. Coach D turned Jaquan Jarret who no one wanted into a 2nd round pick. He turned Muhammad Wilkerson, a no star recruit into a 1st rd pick fighing to start on the jets DL. They did this in an inner city campus in a horrible neighborhood. You mean to tell me they can't right this ship? Just be patient.

You guys gotta be kidding me. this is an overreaction.
Who did we return on offense? Who did we return on defense? We returned a roster of guys who hardly played or didnt play at all and on top of that, except them to lead Freshman??? Be patient, if this happened next season, I would agree with the response.
Golden said defensive system, tackling needs examination after blowout loss at K-State
UM coach Al Golden defended his defensive coordinator after last week's season-opening win at Boston College, saying he had the utmost confidence in what Mark D'Onofrio was doing. Golden sounded a little less emphatic about that after Saturday's 52-13 blowout loss at Kansas State. "We're going...
we got crushed by the run when shannon was his with hurtt and petri. Who does donofrio have? Robinson who never played, Porter who is always hurt, pierre and smith were just fill ins, basically back ups. He has talented freshmen who are undersized at this point. Look how Perryman and Eddie Johnson have developed. Those were guys golden brought in. I dont think people realize the damage shannon did to this program both on and off the feild. I mean with some of these kids mentally.
btw, lets stop with attacking the coachs over luther. He was a kid who never sniffed the field under shannon. He is lucky that golden gave him a shot.

Exactly, canetally. See what earl moore, ivery, hamilton, etc can do next year and year after. These guys werent early enrollees. Look at the size difference of kirby compared to guys like Terry.

I am not saying Al Golden is Howard or JJ yet but we started to defensive tackles today who were basically brought in to fill spots. How can we have freshmen step up when they have no leadership to look up to on defense? Did Golden recruit Luther Robinson or Ray Ray? Did he recruit Sentrel? How many players that golden recruited have been suspended? Every makes fun of Golden only coaching Temple but forget the recruiting job he did with Virginia's defense. Who is gonna teach Deon Bush to be in place? Vt or KR? give me a break. Who is gonna groom Earl Moore or Dequan? It does matter, if you look at Flowers being able to lean on Linder, it shows you what can happen with the right upperclassmen in place.

How many of you ever strapped on a helmet? Seriously, how many of you have become Bear Bryant over night. Butch Davis had games like this in the beginning. The future of our team is the freshmen. We cant go to a bcs game with freshmen.

It is clear that K State were men and we were boys. Our problem is our most talented players are freshmen. Earl Moore and Dequan Ivery are probably are most talented DT's but they are very young and need to add weight. I also think this is a young team that was humbled because they had a hangover from bc win.
The players I noticed who were still fighting were duke, bush, perryman, eddie johnson, etc. This still is not 100% Golden's team.
Some thoughts
Eddie Johnson once he calms down will be all acc in my opinion. Him and Perryman will be best tandem since Vilma and Williams.
Duke didnt have the greatest game but this kid never stops fighting.
I would like to see more of earl moore. Pierre is really a back up. Porter will help.
Mike James is what he is. Great kid, average starter.
Bush needs to start. Rogers is nothing but a backup.
I felt like I seen #2 and #44 everywhere.
I know we were told Williams is nothing compred to Morris but he did looked quite composed even though it was against second team.
I o-line is young but if I was Seantrel I would take Bunche's job.
If hurns is hurt, Malcolm Lewis is our best receiver.
Davon Johnson has played well. Looking at Arthur Brown, Tommy Streeter, and Davon Johnson really show you the disaster coach golden inherited.

Everyone remembers the huge first quarter by BC offense but forgets we stopped them on 4th and goal.
Grading the Canes - Week 1: UM has obvious work to do on defense after BC win
Enjoy this one. Savor it. Al Golden definitely is and told his team to do the same. His young Hurricanes battled back from a pair of quick upper cuts Saturday afternoon at Boston College and survived 542 yards of offense from a team that finished last in the ACC last year in that department and...
First, our defense was horrible in the 1st quarter but if you take that away, the last 3 quarters weren't bad. I have to say, I haven't seen the kid of energy and effort from canes in a long time. Every guy was trying to get in the pile.
On offense, Morris looked very good to me. I can't remember many bad throws. Duke looked amazing, he has that extra gear. Mike James
looked much quicker but was outshined by duke. I still think he looked better than last year. O-line played well and will only get better.
TE's need to show up more. As far as WR'S, Davon Johnson made a very tough play but Kendall needs to step up. Rashawn Scott dropped a pass early, I think due to nervousness but he bounced back. He kind of reminded me of Streeter early last year with the nervous energy. Malcom Lewis is gonna be a star. Allen Hurns is strong and reliable. Dorsett has the gamebreaking speed but didnt get much action. I think we will grow here.
Defense-Perhaps the biggest problem with a young team is, D-tackles are probably the hardest guys to play as freshmen. I would like to
see Earl Moore get time. Olsen Pierre missed some tackles but I think he will get better, he seemed to just be off by a few seconds on a couple plays. We need a healthy Curtis Porter. I think if we had some help at DT, Chick and Green could make some big plays. They both play hard but were constantly double teamed. As far as LB's, we know about Denzel but Eddie Johnson to me showed glipses of becoming a star. I really feel he and Denzel are going to be wreaking havoc on defense once they get settled in. Db is not as bad a problem, it was the lack of pressure that hurt. Tracy Howard definately will get better. I think Mcgee and Finnie played pretty strong. Kacy Rogers definately made big improvement and at this point looks better than VT. I did notice Deon Bush always being around the ball and playing physical. Our lb's and DB's need help from DL because we have some real talent and speed in those positions. people will compain about coach D but with some many fresh faces, he has to be conservative. However, I noticed things like better tackling, piling on, and going for strips which our guys havent done since butch and early coker era. Coach D took no star players at temple and put them into the nfl, he can get it done.
Special Teams- I feel every time duke or dorsett got the ball, it felt like something big might happen. Our coverage was strong.

some of you guys couldn't have played a down of football.I am so tired of hearing about the fake fg against VT. he put his balls on the table. How about on a 3rd down letting a qb run up the middle untouched for 20 plus yards.
Also, I honestly cannot wait for Travis to leave, he has been a dummy since he arrived.
the older players have been stuck in mediocrity. THe future of this program is the Perrymans, pierre's, chicks, finnie's, GIonni Pauls, Corey King, Dorsett, Rashawn Scott, etc. Every kick off I see Gionni Paul jumping up and down These newer kids were Golden's type of guys. These kids are going to be very good.
UM's No. 1-ranked recruiting class of '08 failed in its quest; now it's all about the Golden process
It wasn't supposed to be this way. When the nation's No. 1-recruiting class walked through the doors in 2008, the Miami Hurricanes were supposed to return to prominence. Randy Shannon, the man tapped into South Florida's recruiting pipeline, was supposed to restock the shelves with the talent L...
14 pts came from mike james and morris turnover. Plus, morris fumbled in maryland terroritory. for guys who havent played much, they only gave up 1 td. Morris had how many delay of game calls? How many bad passes that maryland didnt pick? he overthrew lamar on a shot screen.
There is a reason they wanted ryan williams cleared and cant wait for preston dewey.
