Charlise and I made a tutu this morning, here's a picture tutorial of how you can make one too! Supplies needed: Tulle (I used 3 yards of white, and 1 yard each of hot pink, purple, neon green, and bright blue) scissors ribbon for waistband Step 1: Measure out enough ribbon to wrap around waist and tie a bow. Cut your tulle into strips (I folded my 1 yard pieces in 4ths and cut them, then cut them again so I had 8 pieces that were 1/8 of a yard wide- you might be able to have them cut them... I've had a Nikon D40 for about 2 years and have never taken the time to really learn how to use it. I love the point and shoot pictures it takes, but I know it's capable of so much more. So, today I start a series of photography classes in Sacramento at Kits Cameras, where I recently purchased a Tamron lens. I'll post all the technical information in a different post, maybe after this class I'll actually know what I'm talking about :) Anyway, in the mean time, practicing my photography skills I went out to my garden to capture... I Love Rustoleom spray paint (I hope I'm spelling it right). I've used it to spray paint furniture, frames, and a mirror. Here are some pictures: I have 6 of these stools that were a weathered white with chipped paint. I painted them a glossy black, and will be recovering the seats. (These were a Craigslist find 6 for $75.00) This desk was a disgusting plastic-y yellow and gold with maker grafitti, and stickers stuck to it (It was $5.00 at a yard sale) These frames were some whitewashed country chic ones I had, that I painted pink and glossy... I remember sewing at my mom's machine somewhere around the age of 9, fascinated by the way clothes could be put together. My first creations started as socks and random scraps of fabric and became dresses for Barbie to wear on date night with Ken... I later got a Brother sewing machine as a therapy tool when I got married and moved far away from all who I knew and loved. And so at 22, in the middle of Arkansas, through lonely tears, I taught myself how to sew. First I made quilts, and eventually moved onto clothes and other... Continue reading

I finished my fur vest. I bought a rabbit coat from the Goodwill for 6.99, and my dog ATE the collar, like chewed off the fur!!! So, I cut the sleeves and collar off, sewed the lining to the vest inside out at the arm holes, then hand sewed the rest of the seams with a blind-hem stitch. I love the color, it reminds me of coyote fur... Here it is: And today I'm wearing my FAVORITE pair of vintage black suede boots- they're thigh high, flat heel, "pirate hoochie" boots- I got them on e-bay for $30!!!! The white... Continue reading

I finally got my new camera lens, so I was able to take pictures of my BEAUTIFUL craft room! Here are the pictures and details: I love the way my glass desk casts a floral shadow! This desk is big enough for drafting my patterns, but small enough to fit in my room. I also cut fabric, draw, paint, and use my macbook at this desk. The picture shelf is great for placing inspirational pictures, right now I have pictures of my smiling babies. The hanging wire will be essential when I'm back in school for all of my projects.... So, after 13 years of driving( I got my license at 16 and will be 29 in February), I got pulled over for the FIRST TIME and got a speeding ticket yesterday... 84 in a 60 ... of all the times I should've been pulled over going fast in Chris's eclipse, I was pulled over in the DURANGO with Charlise in the back seat!!! My lucky streak has finally been broken... I wish I was at least racing somebody in Chris's car, that would've been a good story. But, no I was simply on the wrong freeway, trying to get...
