It was really great to meet you and thank you for being generous in regards to my Jesus-in-a-taco-chip story. (If you have no idea what that means, my point is, thanks for being awesome.) You handle overwhelmed like a pro.
Memories of the Phoenix Comicon 2012
In about 22 hours, I leave for Origins Game Fair in Ohio. I've wanted to go to this convention since I was in high school, and I'm really excited to finally be attending. Felicia and I are doing a bunch of TableTop stuff, and the organizers have even set aside time in our busy schedules for some...
Tuesday night I popped in a Justice League Unlimited DVD to appreciate his work and was struck by a short exchange between Warhawk and Green Lantern.
Warhawk: What are you supposed to do when you have the weight of the world on your shoulders?
Green Lantern: Plant your feet.
Such a great bit of writing, one of many Dwayne McDuffie gave us, and I'm sad there won't be any more. My condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.

Last night, I met my friend Amy Berg (who created Cha0s on Leverage, and brought me into Eureka as Dr. Parrish) down in Hollywood for dinner. Traffic was horrible (surprise) so she'd been waiting almost 20 minutes when I finally walked into the restaurant. While I scanned the crowd to find her,...
Thanks for writing this, Wil. I found a site posting a ton of my stuff last night. Even when the content is published by a big corporate behemoth (and in publishing, authors usually license specific rights to their work rather than sell them outright), it's still stealing from the author.
In addition to an upfront advance payment, I get credited a percentage of every copy of my book sold. When that percentage adds up to equal the advance payment, then the percentage of every additional sale goes to me. (And I get to keep the advance payment no matter what.) It's a different business model than self-publishing (and we can debate its advantages and disadvantages), but when people take my book without paying for it, they're still stealing from me.
Generally, I think the people who post stuff without payment or permission are probably dicks, while the people who download them probably aren't. But I wish they'd realize their actions directly impact my ability to make a living.
an open letter to the guy who put just a geek the audiobook on his website for people to steal
Hi there, guy-who-I-won't-link-to-for-obvious-reasons, I'm Wil Wheaton. I wrote Just A Geek, and I created the audiobook you're helping people steal. You may not know this, but I 'm just one guy, without a publisher, so when you help people steal this copy of Just A Geek by making it available f...
