I can't wait to hear the Acqusitions, Inc. panel, assuming it'll be podcasted...
How was your PAX?
I'm on set for Eureka, tethering to the Internets through a mobile hotspot, using my iPad to post with the Typepad app. This is, as they say, less than optimal for blogging. However, I wanted to put a post up for PAX stuff, until I can write a proper post in the next few days. I had a wonderful ...
When I was a kid, my dad gave me a few of his old comics from Marvel's "assistant editors month." Basically, a month long opportunity for some of the folks at Marvel to muck around with their comics. One issue of Spider-Man was drawn entirely by Fred Hembeck, and Marvel Team Up featured Franklin Richards and Aunt May, the Herald of Galactus. (No, really.) The issue turned into a parody of the old Hostess ads. It was kinda awesome.
Terrifying Tales from The House of Secrets and The Witching Hour!
When I was in Vancouver for Eureka last year, I got to know downtown pretty well. I had a couple of pubs I loved, two grocery stores that took care of all my food needs, and more great restaurants than I could shake a hockey stick at. I also found a comic shop that was just a few blocks from my ...
My grandparents got my siblings and me subscriptions to Highlights and National Geographic World.
in which Highlights for Children is discussed at great length
Last night, on the way home from dinner, I asked Anne, "Do you remember Highlights for Children?" "Of course I do," she said, "I remember how I hated going to the doctor when I was a kid, until I started reading Highlights in the waiting room." "Turn right at this intersection," I said, "and Tra...
As much as I enjoyed Pattern Recognition, I was kind of sad to find Spook Country kind of boring and impenetrable. I'm looking forward to the third book in the series, though.
Computerwelt
I've been reading a lot more than usual (which is saying something, because I really like to read) since I got home from Eureka. It wasn't until yesterday afternoon that I realized why I've wanted to do little more than work my way through the gigantic pile of Books I Want To Read* for the last ...

How much did the D&D dice go for?
thirty-two hours in three hundred words
It was just above freezing when I got into the car Tuesday morning. The rising sun had just barely cleared my neighbor's roof, and did its best to melt the frost off of my roof and windshield. Anne and I sat in the passenger compartment shivering, surprisingly thick clouds of fog blooming in fron...
I was hoping he'd phase-step out of the pit and laugh at Leer. :-(
We miss you Aofel.
I'm saying this for the last time: HIS. NAME. IS. AEOFEL!
I've been pointing out new episodes of the D&D/Penny Arcade/PvP/Me podcast on Twitter, but since the third series draws to a close today, I thought I'd catch up, and then share some thoughts on the final episode. My last post took us up to episode three, so... Episode Four: In this episode, the...
When do the dice go up for auction, and where could I go to bid for them?
(I haven't played any sort of tabletop RPG since... middle school. Might be worth getting back into if I had the time and a group.)
D&D Penny Arcade Podcast: Series Three
Somehow, I forgot to mention that the third series of D&D podcasts featuring Penny Arcade, Scott Kurtz, and Wil Wheaton (that's me!) has been available for a couple of weeks. Here are links to the episodes that are currently online: Series Three, Episode One It's Fallcrest, midwinter, and sno...
