I agree. I hope you don't limit College Bound to impact only low-income families. All kinds of families need this type of information! I just found GreatSchools today. What a great resource! I am especially pleased to see the College Bound beta. Post-secondary success is a topic near and dear to my heart. In fact, I've spent a good part of the last four years educating myself and sharing info with others about successfully navigating through life after high school. I hope “beta” means that you are still tweaking the College Bound program and are open to feedback. Have you considered broadening your focus beyond College Bound and renaming it to something like “Life after High School?” To many people, “college bound” means four year university, which isn't the only pathway to success. There are many pathways to success including, four year university, community college, technical, vocational, art, or design institutes, military service, or volunteer service. How about apprenticeships, where you can learn as you earn? Four years ago, I took over a PTA committee called "College Bound," which organized an annual college fair for students in our school district. Over time, I've evolved the "College Bound" fair to a "Life after High School" conference with a keynote address, informational sessions, and a Pathways area where parents and students can talk with people that can provide information about many different pathways that are available for success after high school. I look forward to watching this GreatSchools parent-training and support group unfold!
