Either way you want to justify the timing of him leaving it is yet another unfortunate set back for a already very troubled program! Most of incoming class was offensive players so we can only watch and see what the fallout from this will be on NSD!
Unfortunate news for the Miami Hurricanes: OC Jedd Fisch leaves UM for same position at Jacksonville Jaguars
We all knew this would happen eventually. I, for one, was hoping it wouldn't happen this season, but, naturally, not convinced that it wouldn't. Hurricanes offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch, all-around good person, smart person, great communicator and teacher -- not to mention well-loved by his p...
It is hard for me not to aggravated about this. He announces on the biggest recruiting weekend of the year two weeks before NS! Morris is a senior and it is pointless for him to have to learn yet another system. If Golden does not get this next OC hire right and the D-Fence under his boy doesn't improve a 120% then we are looking at like 3 win season next year!

Welcome to the 2nd coming of the Randy Shannon era! 11 & 11 is Golden record through 22 games. I agree with the other bloggers Finnie & Highsmith are some of the worse DB this program has ever had.
Golden after heartbreaking Virginia loss: "It's really important we don't splinter"
The Hurricanes are back at .500 following a heartbreaking 41-40 loss on the road at Virginia. Of all five UM losses this season, this one will probably haunt UM coach Al Golden and his assistant coaches the most. UM (5-5, 4-3 ACC) had a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter, and then a five-point ...
Manny, Golden seems to take the pat the players on the back approach after bad plays. If you look at a lot of the top coaches in the game right now they seem to be more chew the players out for bad plays. Do you think Golden needs to start taking a harder approach after some of these bad plays on the field?

Great article Manny. Your best work so far this year. I agree with every point you made. I especially like the point you made about the up comming teams on our schedule. I wanted this team to be a top 10 team and win the ACC more then anyone. Even a lot of the national media bought into this years team. This team 5 games through this year is the biggest fraud in the country. I keep seeing post of we still can run the table, beat FSU in the rematch for the ACC title, and then beat a top 10 team in the Orange Bowl. Fellow fans for your own good wake up this team is a fraud! This team is headed for at least 3 more losses during the reguler season. Shannon and staff is not capable of turning this team around in mid season just the way they have been unable to turn the program around in 4 years. It is heart breaking for a 27 year die hard fan like me to come to realty, but you got to start looking at the numbers and not you feelings!!
Extra points and observations: Florida State
The point of this blog every week is to recap the good and the bad following a Hurricanes game. I will do that again this week after UM's 45-17 loss to Florida State, but I'm starting with a much broader point of view: THE BIG QUESTION... Was Saturday's blowout loss to the Seminoles just an ugl...
Sounds like to me that Harris and the offense still can not play well in the rain. Lets prey for clear skies on all game days this season.
Miller has 83-yard TD run in final scrimmage
HIGHLIGHTS - Lamar Miller got things going with an 83-yard touchdown run up the middle early in the scrimmage. - Later, Travis Benjamin caught a pair of touchdown passes from Jacory Harris and Alonzo Highsmith. - Kendal Thompkins broke out for gains of 32 and 26. - Billy Sanders had one of the ...
What is wrong with Erickson? This is two starts in a row that he was pulled early in the game. Is his arm getting tired at this point in the season? If so that may be big trouble for us in the post season.
Sweeping Sunday in the City Beautiful: Miami 9, Terps 1FINAL
It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Mark Light Field as the Hurricanes look for the three game sweep of the Maryland Terrapins. We're in the bottom of the first, no score. Eric "Craig" Erickson pitching for Miami today. Alfredo Rodriguez, whose dad played was a shortstop at Miami from 1978-79...
It is comming apart for Haith. He better hire a good x's & o's coach this off season to help with game planning.
Guard Antoine Allen transferring
The University of Miami announced Wednesday that freshman guard Antoine Allen has decided to transfer and pursue basketball at another school. Allen, a 6-1 guard from the same AAU program Jack McClinton played for in Baltimore, averaged 2.9 points and 0.8 rebounds while converting 41.7 percen...
Stupid CSS tape delayed the game until Sunday noon for what ever reason. I guess the Florida Atlantic Baseball game they bumped us for will pull better ratings???
Lot of scoring in UM Spring Game
TRAZ POWELL STADIUM -- If you took your eyes off the field Saturday at Traz Powell Stadium for even a second, you might have missed a lot. This year's Spring Football Game turned out to be about as action-packed as any played before it -- chock full of scoring from start to finish. In the end,...
This may turn out well for the Canes. Good post Manny thanks for keeping us updated.
Canes could still add two high-end recruits
With spring football in full swing, a forgotten storyline playing out behind the scenes these days in Coral Gables is that the Hurricanes are still in the running to add two of the nation's top 2010 recruits: cornerback Latwan Anderson (5-11, 185) and mammoth offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson....
I like Shannon goals for this spring. This team does need to get stronger and tougher. I also think starting spring early in the year is good idea, so any injured players have more time to recover for fall camp.
Shannon's Spring Goal: "Get tougher"
Remember what the University of Miami football team looked like the last time they were out on the field? On the sidelines, players were huddled next to heaters. On the field, the Wisconsin Badgers were pounding the Hurricanes on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Flatly, the Canes looked like...
Manny what have you heard about Shannon search for a new running backs coach to replace Robinson?
Shockey, Vilma join elite UM Super Bowl frat
The University of Miami's rich NFL history is nothing new. New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey, a four-time Pro Bowler, and linebacker Jonathan Vilma, a two-time Pro Bowler, have helped add to it over the past decade. Sunday night, though, in helping the Big Easy to its first Super B...
Manny please let us know what the schedule looks like when it comes out. That will cool to see today.
Seantrel Henderson waiting on USC investigation
Wednesday evening in front of a national audience, Seantrel Henderson, the nation's No. 1 offensive tackle announced he had chosen USC over Ohio State and the University of Miami. Turns out, Henderson picked the Trojans, but still hasn't signed with them yet. According to an interesting New Yo...
Lets not turn this into a bash RS thing. He was a two year special team player. Not a big loss plus we have 4 guys returning with a lot of playing experince and five more freshman on the way. He was overrated just like his brother. Good luck to him but not a big deal.
Is Arthur Brown's Canes career over?
He came to Coral Gables as the nation's No. 1 linebacker in 2008. Now, Arthur Brown is leaving before even really getting on the field. According to UM's sports information deparment, Brown is not enrolled in classes this semester and has returned home to Wichita, Kansas. "It is unknown if he'l...
I agree RS should have gave Chandler a Scholly just to avoid all of this reporting. Do you realy think Chandler replacment that is like a 2star from the mid west would be any better the 4star Chandler. Plus you would avoid a reff in the water with NW. Come on RS pull this stuff together!
Northwestern coach: "There is no rift with UM"
Miami Northwestern, the elite high school football program in Miami-Dade County, has long been a pipeline to the University of Miami. And despite what other "sources" may be saying, Bulls coach Billy Rolle, a longtime friend of Hurricanes coach Randy Shannon, told me Wednesday afternoon that won...
Pulling a couple of these guys this weekend will go a long way for improving our class rankings. Good luck with this weekend Shannon & Staff.. I like the D-line hire by the way. What is your thoughts on the hire Manny?
Canes set to make final recruiting push
University of Miami coach Randy Shannon and offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland will be in the living room of the top offensive lineman in the country tonight, trying to convince Seantrel Henderson and his parents that The U is the best place for him. After they're done, Shannon and Stoutland...
Welcome to the U Nelson.. Make sure to put your money where your mouth is when fall camp starts..
For Nelson 'long battle' will be over soon
Kevin Nelson can't contain his excitement. In a week, the Gainesville Sun's Class 6A-3A Player of the Year will be able to put pen to paper, sign his name on a National Letter of Intent and officially call himself a Miami Hurricane. For Nelson, a 6-1, 215-pound middle linebacker, National Sig...
Haith has done less with good talent the past two seasons as any coach in the country..
Haith wants to see more aggression from Scott
Having a long break after a tough loss can usually hurt a team. But in this case, University of Miami basketball coach Frank Haith said Monday his team's long after last Tuesday's 79-75 loss to Boston College might be just what his team needs to get jump-started going again. "I think it was g...
Good post Manny. Thanks for the quick up date on this weekend visits.
LB Gaines becomes latest UM commitment
One recruiting weekend down, one to go. The University of Miami hosted its next to last group of weekend visitors. Here are a few tidbits I was able to gather... As expected, the Canes were able to nail down a commitment from Buffalo (N.Y.) Canisius High linebacker Jimmy Gaines. The former Buff...
Shawnbrey McNeal, RB: Transferred to SMU and had breakout season, entering NFL Draft !!!!
I posted on here several time that I thought Shawnbrey was our best running back on the team and just like Berry this year never got the correct amount of playing time by Shannon. The few chances he got he did nothing but rip off 50 yard TD runs for us. I seems that Shannon from day one made up his mind that Cooper & James was his guys and better back have been setting on the bench no matter how well the preformed.
Finding hidden gems no easy task for Canes
I've never been a believer in the star system used to rate recruits. Just because a player has a certain number of stars -- or offers -- doesn't necessarily mean he'll become a superstar in college. But on the flip side of the argument -- and one I think maybe isn't discussed enough -- are t...
My condolences
Brother of Canes LB Futch shot and killed
Our Susan Miller Degnan confirmed through the University of Miami that a brother of linebacker Jordan Futch was shot and killed. The details surrounding his death have not been verified, but Susan and I wanted to send our condolences as well as Futch's former high school coach Mark Guandolo. "Jo...
Thanks for the post. What are you hearing on Clint Hurtt ? Is he in or out ?
Clements open to idea of playing corner
ROANOKE, VA. -- The only position Eduardo Clements took seriously growing up was running back. But as he prepares to begin taking classes at the University of Miami, the Miami Booker T. Washington standout isn't sure that when he finishes his college career he'll still be taking handoffs. For t...
We need to have an under study asst learning Whipple play book so he can be ready to step in when the time comes that Whipple does leave. I think he will be back for next season, but after that who knows. ( Manny I heard that Clint Hurtt is on his way out. Can you shed any light on that for us? )
Reports: Whipple not headed to USF
Rumors and reports began swirling last night that Canes offensive coordinator Mark Whipple had not only been interviewed for the head coaching job at South Florida, but was the leading candidate. Regardless of whether or not either was true, it looks like Whipple won't be going anywhere at the...
This class so far is exactly what are program has become average at best. You sound still a little hopeful Manny, but it doesn't sound like you are even giving this class a ringing endorsement neither.
Is UM fading down the recruiting stretch?
I got to enjoy a few days off after the Orange Bowl last week and took comfort in the fact there probably wouldn't be much Canes news outside of what Frank Haith's basketball team would do Saturday night against Wake Forest in a big ACC showdown. It was definitely a good win for the Canes, who n...
Manny thanks for all you hard work covering this season. What is your opinion on the postion coaches for Miami? Does it need to be any off season changes made or would you retain the whole staff?
Champs Sports Bowl thoughts
ORLANDO -- About to head out on the Florida Turnpike to get back in time for tonight's basketball game at the BankUnited Center. But before I take off I just wanted to share a few thoughts on the Canes' 20-14 loss to Wisconsin. The same problems that hurt UM all season -- except interceptions --...
