There is nothing new to get. You have on the other hand, to get rid of your ignorance, which makes you think you are other than Bliss. For whom is this ignorance? It is to the ego. Trace the source of the ego. Then the ego is lost and Bliss remains over. It is eternal You are That, here and now... This is the master key for solving all doubts. The doubts arise in the mind. The mind is born of the ego. The ego rises from the Self. Search the source of the ego and the Self is revealed.... Continue reading

I spread myself thinly over a number of projects, jobs, commitments, people... It says it in my astrology. I have four jobs; teaching, marking and coordinating in three separate locations. Actually make that 5 jobs if I count working as a mum. I write two blogs and manage 3 facebook pages. I'm a mother, a disciple, a wife, a friend. I try to practice living in the present. I try lots of things. I pray for consistency, strength and regularity. I went to the Satyananda Yoga ashram on the weekend. The leaves were divine, everything was. There were so many... We escaped for the weekend to a lovely local hotel. The east coast of Australia is so beautiful. It was therapeutic to fall asleep and wake up listening to and taking deep breaths of ocean prana. We finished long conversations, walked, swam and did everything at our chosen leisurely pace. We walked to an Arabic Lounge, watched a belly-dancer, drank cocktails and smoked an apple hookah. My favourite part after diving in the ocean was - as all mothers would appreciate - lying in bed, being. Continue reading

Hello Lovely, it is wonderful to be reminded. Thank you for your amazing reminders. I like Sati's too when she comes around with 'I am the sun' written on the inside of her wrist, xxx Here is the one that came to mind when you mentioned the trembling knees; From Sivananda, Don’t say: “Karma, Karma. My Karma has brought me like this”. Exert. Do Purushartha. Do Tapas. Concentrate. Purify. Meditate. Don’t become a fatalist. Don’t yield to inertia. Don’t bleat like a lamb. Roar OM OM OM like a lion of Vedanta. Here is the rest of it! http://www.dlshq.org/download/sivaspake.htm

He's developed his winter coat now and he is coming home a little earlier each evening. His face suggests contentment and happiness. He moves the doona around in his claws and positions himself carefully in the nooks of our bodies. Cold nights, a full belly, warm beds to choose from and a strong, steady purr. Blessed be Yogi. "The Yogi is superior to the ascetic. He is deemed superior even to those versed in sacred lore. The Yogi is superior even to those who perform action with some motive. Therefore Arjuna, do you become a Yogi." ~ Bhagavad-Gita VI:46 ~ Continue reading

"At the moment of waking up, before getting out of bed, get in touch with your breath, feel the various sensations in your body, note any thoughts and feeling that maybe present, let mindfulness touch this moment, Can you feel your breath? Can you perceive the dawning of each in breath? Can you enjoy the feeling of the breath freely entering your body in this moment? “Breathe in I smile, breathe out I calm my body, dwelling in the present moment, it is a wonderful moment.” Thich Nhat Hanh Continue reading

Many traditions use stories to teach great spiritual truths. Here, on Sundays, some of these stories will be re-told. They can be understood by adults & children. Where possible I will suggest a children's picture book that teaches the same or similar story. *** *** *** One young man went to apply for a managerial position in a big company. He passed the initial interview, and now would meet the director for the final interview. The director discovered from his CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent. He asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" the youth answered... Continue reading

Success is hastened or delayed by one’s habits. It is not your passing inspirations or brilliant ideas so much as your everyday mental habits that control your life. ~ Paramhansa Yogananda~ My prayer is for consistency. Consistency in prayer, love, positive thought word and deed. Consistency in folding laundry and putting it away, in writing letters to loved ones, in visiting my grandmother, in energy levels and good parenting. Consistency in providing nutrient dense meals for my family, in chanting, smiling, giving and mood. Consistency in equilibrium - being happy no matter what. Lady hear my prayer. How I hope... "Within the structure of our mind, there is a level of awareness about our identity that has existed since the time of our birth. Later on, this awareness is combined with the samskaras, karmas and impressions, as well as with the education that we receive in life. As a result, we seem to look at ourselves in a particular way, which becomes our measurement of our self-image. When we begin to appreciate that self-image, then I think it becomes self-esteem, an appreciation of what we are. If I do not have any appreciation of what I am, then I may... Continue reading

My mother and father met in the womb. Their pregnant mother's lived in the same street, Lyndhurst Ave, Gladesville in the 1940's. When my mother was born in the July my nan - pregnant with my father - came down to bath the newborn. She needed practice. A family joke runs that this is the first time mum kicked dad. Their first photo taken that still survives today, is of them sitting together at a party aged 2. We still have their 'love letters.' One describes a story about a duck. Neither of them were allowed the duck so they... Continue reading

We all had a satisfying weekend. I took the children to Satyananda Yoga Mangrove and Dazla fitted out a new yoga centre. The weather was hearty and warm with massive cumulus clouds in the blue sky. The ashram was filled with lovely people, faces old and new. I unexpectantly met up with someone I used to work with at uni and it was such a joy to see his face and his heart little changed - a heart filled with light. At the Sivananda Math Chai Stall on the Sunday morning we were spoilt with delights from the 'Yoga, Food... Continue reading
