c Apologies for the image sizes. I'm transitioning from a PC to a Mac after 20 years and I don't know how these things work. The winter here is cold at the moment. Each year we get this tease of warm spring weather, every year we fall for it and every year it gets colder, way colder before it gets warmer. We had our little Landcare group yesterday. A gathering of neighbours and family to restore the bushland alongside our homes. It was a quiet session of hand weeding. I love this opportunity to just gently focus on the Earth,... Good morning. A lovely quiet morning here before the house wakes up to another full day of life. We had an organics delivery last night which the fridge welcomed with open door. Bodhi made his first batch of kombucha and I made my first batch of Peppermint Bliss Balls. The dog is wearing his woollen pyjamas and I covered and settled the rabbits late last night, past midnight. The day brings, a new haircut for me, school for the children and a shared dinner this evening. I'm hoping to get down to the beach to soak up this beautiful wintery... Continue reading

We are in week three of our winter school holidays. We've found a groove that will be turned upside down this time next week. Not to worry. All things must change. We've had a few family birthdays. Indira received a karaoke machine (so much fun, even more after, you know, vino) and birthdays always seem to creep up on me this time of year. Some years I get all lovely and prepped for the birthday/holiday season and pride myself on my planning and forethought. I rest on my laurels. So then the next year comes along, I'm lying down on... A sincere vision, "Our goal is to be the trusted source for toys and craft supplies that allow children to follow their imagination." So great to hear. Thanks so much, Katie

I headed down to the haven rocks this morning to meet up with a friend for a photography lesson. He inspired me immensely. The sun wasn't out, in fact the sky was brimming with tears. I photographed my favourite colour, sky steel blue. Here's what I captured. Thanks Matty. Looking forward to the next one. Continue reading

February. Goodbye! You've been hot, sticky. You go unlamented. I'm glad to see the end of this summer. The weather is changing now, a little cooler at the beginning and a bit more cooler at the end of the day. This morning at 4:30am in the dark I stepped outside onto the deck to fully absorb the earthy cold air through the pores of my skin. I could hardly get enough. So glad, so glad. I want big autumn skies, the weight of the blanket on me at night, coolness, coldness, night fires, golden leaves, embroidery on my lap, a... Continue reading

Taking two children to a third world country for a month was exhausting! A 21,000km round trip! We've spent 7 weeks together. 4 of those weeks we were really stuck together - like glue - in Vietnam. I thought they could get lost or stolen so I spent the time holding on to their hands for dear life, constantly looking at where they were and slept with one eye open. When I wasn't so worried about the personal safety part it was just stressful managing the passports, transfers, language barrier and finding something vegetarian to eat; breakfast, lunch and dinner.... Everywhere I turn this past month, I'm being reminded of faith. Often when my chin falls down I have to manually prop it back up. Self-coaxing works; "It will be okay," "Keep going," "Baby steps," "Just get through the next 15 minutes." And lo, the wind blows, the planets change alignment and like magic the mood lifts, the ambiance has changed, the sun is shining again. Faith, patience and trust. It will be okay, wait, proof (it's been okay in the past). A wonderful lesson for the children to be observing. Before Hinduism, Yoga explained the concept of Ganesha. Ganesha... Continue reading

I'm intimidated by making most cheeses but I'd really like to make feta in sage and peppercorns. Brilliant idea Corina to have on-line workshops. Thanks so much, Katie.

I thought it was about time I wrote on my own blog. I manage several and this lovely one over here has been neglected far too long. Home is lovely. We've been gently swept into the new year, the new term of school and the children and I are settling nicely into a morning routine. I made little checklists to guide them along the way. They like checking the boxes - not sure for how long before the resentment sets in but for now it's working. Rasta came to work with me yesterday for the first time. He has his... Continue reading

We started out in the garden early, 6am. It was set to be a scorcher. Temperatures around 38 degrees celcius and 43 degrees out west. We watered and moved precious, little plants under cover and went inside to set up the house to be as cool as possible. Blinds down, windows closed, fans on and before it became too oven like I put the air-con on at 24 degrees. It worked quite nicely. To cool down we ate pomegranate and coconut iceblocks, 6 divine mangoes and took cold rose petalled baths throughout the day and living up to my November... Continue reading

It all came back to me. I love November! The cricket season has started, the eucalyptus trees are flowering, the peonies and whilst doing the school drop-offs I've noticed a pink rambling David Austin rose seemingly everywhere. Has it always been like this and I've never noticed? Probably. I have a new laptop and am coming back to blogging/writing after, maybe a year? I'm thinking that I'll refind the writing blogs I enjoyed reading, Amanda over at Habit of Being comes to mind because of it's lovely themed writings each month (wonder if she still does these?) My manifesto for... Continue reading
