As the winner of the PAX Prime 2011 Gloom Tourney (by virtue of being the only one to show up, which seemed appropriately Gloomy to me) I heartily approve of this segment. :) You guys got way more into the story than I manage to - though I at least manage to read the card story descriptions. I am thoroughly enjoying watching Tabletop, and so is my 6 year old. She now talks about the one where Wil's wife knocked over all the trains.

Fun, hectic, and fun! The last time we went was 2008, and the daughter was 2 and there were few other families. This time I saw loads of families (therefore making me feel less weird about bringing the daughter and the baby boy), and the now 5 daughter played games. I got to 'win' the Gloom tourney by virtue of being the only person to sign up - though my friend very nicely played a game with me anyhow. The daughter & I played Kirby Wii & DS and got the shirts. She is wearing hers now - as a dress - and has added Kirby's Return to Dreamland to her Christmas list. We also played DQM2, and she loves that shirt & the buttons. I played in the Munchkin tourney and won the Best Loser prize. When I told Andrew Hackard this he high-fived me, before signing one of the cards from the booster that was my prize. I got to play games & have dinner with friends I haven't seen since the baby was born. I got to watch my daughter enjoy playing games. It was awesome.

That is completely horrible. That's also why the last time I went to Pax Prime I took the train. It was quite nice. There isn't per chance an overnight train from your area to Vancouver? That way at least you'd be sleeping for most of the 'wasted' time.

'until one day I have enough dice to cover my entire floor.' OMG - YES!! And then, you do the frame, like when they pour concrete, and pour all the dice in. And the you cover it with some clear tile making/ plastic/ silicone/ whatever to make the most awesomely perfect floor for the ultimate gaming room!

But... but... my man *is* in Vancouver and I am glad. Ok, Richmond. Though thankfully it's only 25 km away (and I am too lazy to convert that to miles).

That's... so... Bollywood! I think I have perma-grin. Or Joker smile. Either way, so much fun!

Someone has mentioned Queen Elizabeth Park - which is beautiful. If you head there, go the Bloedel Conservatory, it's at the 'top' (ain't that high). It has bonus geek points as it was the Garden of Heaven in a recent Supernatural episode. Another excellent garden is Van Dusen (@37th & Oak). You can walk there for hours if you are so inclined. If head to the Comic Shop @ 4th and Arbutus, be sure to head a bit East on 4th. There's an omg, Omg, OMG! chocolate place called Chocolate Arts just down from it. http://www.chocolatearts.com/ If Anne likes chocolate you will get some mega bonus awesome hubby points if you bring her back something from there. Enjoy your stay in Vancouver!

Hey, I've read that issue of mentalfloss (the one with Einstein on the cover). Also... mmm, now I want cookies. You are one lucky dude, Wheaton. :)

*gigglesnort* Did they have brown rice? And low sodium soy sauce? One of the things that makes reading your blog so fun, is how much joy you have in things that could become mundane - it is your job, after all. I am really looking forward to this episode! @ChuckEye - that's an awesome suggestion!

Well, at least I know how long I have to get my fanfic done. :) Can't have people saying I stole it from TV... uh, though the odds of it having anything remotely similar are... really, really small. Yay for you. I'd be jealous, but why?
