I have no patience for UPS. It's gotten to the point where, if a company uses them for shipping I won't order from them. I'll actually call a company if their website doesn't say what carrier does the shipping and ask, and if it's UPS I won't place my order. I have never had a good experience with them. Fedex and regular mail have both always been fine for me. UPS, nothing but screw-ups.
UPS shipping fail - updated (see end of post)
I shipped two boxes of books to Phoenix on Wednesday, to arrive here by 1030 this morning. I paid extra for this, like you do. As 11am rolled around and my books still weren't here, I got a little nervous, so I checked online to see where my packages were. It turns out UPS fucked up and "incorre...
I wish I had dogs to wake up to. Someday when I'm not moving every year or so, and I have a yard...
I have a question about how cartoons get made actually. I'm just wondering, because sometimes the cartoon people's mouths just sort of open and close with no relation to the words, but often they move in such a way as to form the words, so I wonder what comes first, the picture or the dialogue, and in either case, how do you make the voice line up with the picture mouths? I've always wondered this.
each sensation makes a note in my symphony
The alarm went off at 7 this morning. Though I was asleep around 11 last night, the jolt of misery that shot through my body as I reached over to turn it off confirmed -- again -- that I am not a Morning Person. I slowly opened my eyes, and saw that Anne had already gotten out of bed. In her pla...
During the last federal election here in Canada, I was on the CBC website, looking at the returns. They stream their radio broadcasts online and I wanted to listen, but they only stream in wma and I don't have anything that can deal with that format, so I was being very cranky about their lack of open-format content. It took me ten or more minutes of being cranky about it until I realized that I have an actual *radio* that I could use to listen to their *radio* broadcast.
technology makes you stupid
It's been over 80 for the last few days, and I'm going up to Portland for the rest of this week to see my sister, so I took advantage of the warm weather and went for a run yesterday afternoon. My brain quickly tuned out and started working on this story I'm about to publish, so my feet went the...
Awesome interview. This is actually the first RFB I've listened to, because after MotFcast ended it was *so hard* to subscribe to a new RSS feed. Well, not really, actually I'm just very, very lazy. But it turns out that I heart RFB as much as I hearted MotFcast, even though there is no Star Trek. The only conclusion to be drawn from this is that you, Wil Wheaton, are awesome. Which rhymes with possum. But not foursome. Unless you're Australian.
Radio Free Burrito: Episode Twenty-Eight
Holy Crap, it's time for a new episode of Radio Free Burrito! Has it really been three weeks since the last show? I guess it has. Well, I brought a note that will hopefully excuse my absence... Show Notes: The logo was designed by WWdN:iX reader Marc, who asked that I not link to his "in progr...
Since my computer is currently 100% M$ free and I want to keep it that way (more just so I can say that it's true than anything else), I've been watching thing guild here lately.
the guild the guild the guild THE GUILD THE GUILD THE MOTHERFRAKKING GUILD
I, uh, had trouble coming up with a title for this post. Sorry about that. So season Three of The Guild wrapped up this week, and if the feedback I'm getting via Twitter and e-mail is any indication, we can make a note here: HUGE SUCCESS. Felicia has a post at her blog where she talks in a spoil...
Yes please. Bring w00tstock to Toronto (or Ottawa, or Montreal, I'll travel) and I will <3 you forever. There will be much *squeeee*ing.
the obligatory w00tstock post
Everything I could possibly say about w00tstock has already been said by Paul and Storm, who made a lovely list, and Molly, who made a comic that captures exactly how I felt the whole time we did our shows. I loved feeling the terror and exhilaration of trying something totally new (The Trade, w...
Also chiming in to say the 'um's are neither annoying nor excessive. The podcast sounds like you just sat down to tell me a story extemporaneously, which is the feel I figured you were going for, and the 'um's fit well.
Memories of the Futurecast: Episode Seven
Holy crap! It's time for Memories of the Futurecast. Memories of the Future, Volume One, covers the first 13 episodes of TNG, so each week, I'm choosing something from one episode, and performing an excerpt for you. It will mostly be from the synopses, which is where I think the real humor of ...
