Ever since a friend met Simon Doonan to get me an autographed copy of his book Beautiful People last month, I've had a slight Simon obsession. So of course I love the Simon illustrated Nov/Dec Departures cover! Continue reading

Amy Sacco, W Magazine Reality television is fascinating, especially when it features someone already famous and lets us into their life. New York Post is reporting that Bungalow 8 nightlife queen Amy Sacco is working on a pilot with Bravo. The article quotes TV producer Charile Corwin as saying "It's going to be about every facet of her life, from personal to business. It's going to be about a woman in a cutthroat, male-dominated industry, and an entrepreneur in a recession." Cannot not wait. Until the show, I'll be obsessing over Amy's book Cocktails. Cocktails $18.95 at unicahome.com {New York... Continue reading

Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, The Guggenheim opened in 1959 on NYC's 5th Avenue across from the park. Peggy Guggenheim, in red, fascinates me. After a major renovation, the museum looks amazing. Watching Mad Men makes life worth living. Seriously. Now, even more to feed my obsession: Brooks Brothers has collaborated with the show's costume designer Janie Bryant to create a Mad Men Edition suit, priced at just under $1,000. Costume designers have long been idols of mine, but Janie Bryant takes it to another level with her styling. Love the behind the scenes video of the costume department! Another day, another great sale! Marquis & Camus make amazing jewelry using old pieces. I was so inspired by their work that I've been working on a collection to sell as holiday gifts, so keep a look out for that. In the mean time, pick up one of their pieces on sale at ideeli.com. Continue reading

I picked up these Nina Ricci frames that are a re-issue of the style worn by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the late 1970s; usual retail price-upwards of $250, Gilt Groupe price-$118. Continue reading

Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus is such an entertaining movie with unique camera angles, great costuming, and beautiful set design. Composed, orchestrated, and conducted by Carter Burwell, the soundtrack is to die for and adds so much to the movie. Arbus (played by Nicole Kidman) was the first American photographer to have work exhibited at the Venice Biennale (after her death though) and Fur gives a glimpse into the workings of her mind. Arbus once said: "Freaks was a thing I photographed a lot. It was one of the first things I photographed and it had a terrific... Continue reading

It is a good day when Departures magazine comes in the mail, especially since this is called The France Issue with promises in the editor's letter of classics 'that still matter', a BlackBook section with what's new '-and not-' in Paris, and a story called 'Rediscovering France'. I adore the magazine so much that I was given the subscription as a gift-I don't have an AMEX account that qualifies... Continue reading

Images: top two: rossinfineart.com; Sheree: bravotv.com Who would have thought that Sheree from Real Housewives of Atlanta would bring to my attention the portrait artist Rossin? I'm smitten with his oversize painted portraits that look like photographs. The contemporary style portraits start at $25,000 for a 30" x 30" painting, so I won't have one made anytime soon, but I do love that Rossin is bringing portraits into the 21st century. Learn more about Rossin at his website and view CNN's interview video. See more of Sheree and her fellow Georgia peaches at BravoTV.com. Continue reading
