Adjusting to the idea of having a new family member and continuing to nurture my art practice could have been a daunting process, but I've loved having the time to embrace and grow some of my ideas around journalling as a personal journey, and how I can bring the empowerment of art as a feminine creative and reflective practice to others. I'm very excited that I have found a number of resources available to me that will allow me to acheive my artistic goals over the coming months...and to be able to share this with people who have given me... Yesterday we pulled down paintings from the exhibition at Perth Cityfarm and waved goodbye to a few that had new homes. As my pregnancy progresses I'll be spending more quiet time at home working on some watercolors for a childrens book that I've been asked to illustrate with the lovely Alison Nannup, this will be launched in May. At the moment I'm spending my time up to my neck in paperwork, chasing up payments that are owed and then I'll be focusing my energies on making the studio nice and comfortable for workshops I have planned for the next 6... Work with year 8 students as part of the Aurora project. Children learned watercolor techniques, applying them to personal journals. And used spraypaint and nature templates to decorate their journal covers. And a quick video chat in which Im distracted and disorganised (hey whats new). But yes I promise more updates once I have made headway with the unpacking/organising studio thing :) XXO Continue reading

So ...a new beginning. From painting in a tin shed....to a shared studio space.... finally...I will have my own home studio. Painting in comfort with an awesome view. It will take some time to settle in and make it really comfortable. But I can't wait to get to work in this space.... I hope to make this a really welcoming space for others....I have plans to open this space up for journal workshops. And of course...tea... there must be tea. Continue reading

What is Natural Learning? There are many definitions of Natural Learning amongst homeschoolers, before I begin to delve into the intricacies of what we do, I think it is worthwhile offering up our own defination of what we do, our own defination of natural learning. Natural learning is culturally inspired,... Continue reading

I've been busy at work in my little corner working on a body of work for the kulcha bar in Fremantle. I'm due to show in October which will be my first little solo. I'm hoping to combine this work with some larger pieces for a bigger body of work to show at sometime next year. I'm so happy to have the time and support to be working on these landscapes, its a body of work thats been wanting to come out for some time. Lots of late nights ahead but I'm no complaining. This weekend I'm delivering some pieces for the Noongar Country Exhibition 2012 which opens on the 22nd June 2012. Last year I was thrilled to take out the Emerging Indigenous Artist Award and have my pieces acquired by the Worsley Alumina Collection. This year the pieces I have selected for exhibition are the original paintings that were displayed as part of the heroes and villians collection, commissioned by the law society of Western Australia. Bunbury Regional Art Galleries invites all interested Indigenous artists and community members residing in Noongar Country (Dongara to Esperance) to enter the competition. Over the past... One of my paintings were featured in another etsy treasury which you can view here treasury I'm getting alot more exposure on etsy at the moment then I had previously which is exciting and also confusing, I have no idea on the finer points of what I'm now doing right, so I guess I'll just thank the universe and be grateful :) This painting is making its way to Europe which is exciting, I hope it's loved and adored, it was a favorite, and I'm so happy it's found a home. But the big news, is that we finally sold... Continue reading

Last thursday I went to UWA to talk to some students about my art practice. It was really rewarding to hear them work thorugh some exercises based around my own images. I loved that they were able to pick up so many of the important themes through my pieces before hearing the story of the paintings origins. Very satisfying as an artist and it made me realise the voice of an artist can be a loud one, even when its visual. Weewars Trial. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that I had been featured on an etsy treasury again!... Continue reading

I've been enjoying watercolors and a bit of photography while making my transition out of studio 9. I'm looking forward to settling into a new home and making a new space for my art practice. In practical terms it will mean I will have easier access to paint whenever I feel the urge. I'm also looking forward to spending some more time on landscapes, I really miss the peacefulness I get from seeing the landscape unfold in front on me on the canvas. Paper daisy's at Dawsons. Wishing you all a happy easter. xx Continue reading
