you know last month was great. we did so much work on our house. a lot of stuff that needed to be done. the kind of things that would sometimes appear on that list of things to worry about you're haunted by when you need to be sleeping. we did all that and we bought a car. all that was good, really really good. but you know, you can only do so many things at a time, and doing all that of course meant i didn't have time for other things i like to do. i've barely touched the art... today is tuesday. it is also the last day hannah has to go to school this semester. as the lady who drives her to the bus stop and brings her home, it means it's the last day i have to do that. we're both really happy. i think winter is finally over. it's supposed to be 92 today. too bad we skipped having that spring thing. yesterday was monday, and like most mondays, i spent the day making lists and crossing things off. it wasn't so bad. i tried something new for dinner (inspired by my sister Megan). i didn't... One thing I did over my very laid back weekend was read some of my earliest online journal entries. You may or may not know I started keeping an online journal in the latter part of 1995. Really. That's like 10,000 in internet years. It made me think about many things. It definitely made me think about this blog and what my point is and why I'm doing it. Or I guess why I'm not doing it. I used to tell about my daily life. And one of the reasons I did my online journal was so I could look... Continue reading

What a great day! I managed to spend the whole day doing almost nothing at all. I loved it! I read a bunch of stuff, I pasted some stuff in my journal, I listened to hours of Todd and bought tickets to his show in Tulsa. I got some presents. I had Arby's for dinner. I talked to Greg and my mom on the phone. I don't want to be braggy, but I have a lot to be happy about. I have a new, old car. I am in love with it. Who knew moving up from a 24 year... We're continuing on from the last post. Now we start photos from the last week. On Monday, H and I were in KC. Before we met up with friends for a late lunch at the BBQ that used to be my dad's, we spent some time at this lovely park. It was such a fantastic day we had to spend some part of it sitting out doors. We mostly talked about Doctor Who; what's up with the 11th Doctor, what's up with Clara, how can people hate River - stuff like that. We wandered towards the ducks and instead found... Trying to sum up the crazy that = my life right now is way too big of a task. So I decided to let my phone tell the story, with pictures from the past couple weeks. The 15th was Hannah's birthday. We did several things to celebrate. One was buying her this totally cool Doctor Who belt that is made with an old car safety belt buckle. We also stopped in the Disney store. When the worker lady heard me mention her birthday, she made H this button. (It says Elizabeth because that's what the girl goes by now with... Continue reading

The other day my sister forwarded me an email about a big sale at MyPublisher. 100 page book for the price of a 20 page book. I figured I didn't have quite enough stuff going on, so over the last two days I've been putting together a book from my trip to Europe with Hannah, and one from our family trip to Disney last year. I had to make a swear to myeslf not to try to just last minute pull one together from my first Europe trip*. I'm kind of tired of looking at my own pictures, but there's... Continue reading

All day yesterday, the tree guys were here. They were great, but the dogs hated them. And the noise of the chainsaws, the chipper and the constant barking really jangled my nerves. In the late afternoon, Alan came over to help me do soemthing with the giant mess the plumbers left before the giant rain storm hits. I worked hard. I have seldom worked that hard physcially. I couldn't stay up past 9pm last night. I fell asleep with the lights on. The weather people have been saying the rain was about to start for days now, and it's not... Continue reading

Maybe you thought I forgot about my Disney trip report. I didn't. I just fell wildly behind. I'll catch up. After our tasty Disney snack, we headed for Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road. It is one of my top three all time favorite Disney rides - Tower of Terror, BTMRR and Dinosaur, in case you are curious. On each trip, the first time you ride a favorite again is the best, I think, so I was Excited! I was thrilled at the low wait time, even though that meant we walked through quickly and couldn’t admire all the mine thrain... Continue reading

So much stuff has happened in the last month, it seems more like 3 than one. There were two blizzards. Daisy got sick, had emergency surgery and recovered. My mom came to visit. We fixed up the bird feeding area and a whole host of new birds now visit every day. My dryer stopped spinning. I shopped for and purchased a new washer/dryer set. I made a photo wall in my dining room. I gave my whole house a little mini make over. Alan and I installed 3 new light fixtures. Ok, mostly Alan. I started Spring Cleaning even though... Hello Dorothy! I'm so sorry I somehow missed your comment until just now! Thank You for the nice compliment. If you have an iPad or android tablet of some kind, you can draw on some pictures, but if you don't a graphics tablet is just the ticket. The one I've been using is old, but the updated version would be something like this. It's got great online reviews and the couple people in real life I know who have one love it. I also have a Mac mini and so I know it will be compatible with that. Good luck! If you get one I hope you have lots of fun with it!

As you probably know, about a year and half ago I was lucky enough to spend about a week in Ireland. It was a wonderful week that I still treasure. In honor of this holiday, when millions of American's wish and pretend to be Irish (including myself), I thought I'd share some of my favorite photos from my visit with you. On the first day of our trip, just after we found our hostel and checked in, we wandered out completely jet lagged and with no idea and no plan of where we were headed. We stumbled into Dublin Castle... Continue reading

When I was in High School, I skipped school a couple times to go to Kansas City's St Patrick's day parade. It was one of the biggest St Pat's parade in the country, and since I was entirely in love with Ireland at the time, there was no way I could miss it. I found some pictures I took in 1982 and thought I'd share them with you. My friend Connie marched in the parade. The sheriff. KCK mayor Jack Reardon. I think this was the KCK police float. I'm pretty sure I took more pictures than this - I... Continue reading

most of them are about food. just a warning. I got some Jammie Dodgers! After the recommendations of both Eddie Izzard and The Doctor (each a man I admire), I was excited to see what they were like! The biscuts are not sweet at all, but the jam is so jammie that it works out perfectly. They go especially well with some kind of coffee treat. edamame and hummus. very beany. and look how much asparagus i got on my plate! friday night hannah and i were hanging out and she decided she wanted to watch the last two episodes... My grandpa used to break wild horses, until the time he fell off one. It drug him for quite some distance and he ended up in the hospital. My grandma convinced him to stop after that, but he never fell out of love with them. He passed it on to my dad and me, and even though he passed before my daughter was born, she ended up with the love as well. You shared some great pictures and great stories here. Thanks!

I am thinking of buying myself a graphics tablet. A million years ago, when the internet was young, I had the best Mac I ever had. It was a PowerMac 7600/120 AV. The AV was the part that made it so great. I watched TV on it, and had my casette player hooked up to make casette tapes. And best of all I had a graphics tablet. A giant graphics tablet. How giant? Well I dug it out off of the shelves today to show you: The TiVo buttons are there for scale, and yes I know it's dirty. It's... Continue reading

Today is frigid, gray and windy. But yesterday was a little bit warm and full of sunshine. I took my dogs and my camera and walked around the back yard. Daisy goes off on her own to explore, but Spike likes to stay right by my side. Spike doesn't mind having his picture taken nearly as much as Daisy does. This is the lion who watches over our garden in the summer. One of my favorite things in our back yard is this giant knot of tree-ness that pokes up from the ground. Here's just a bit of it. Oh... Last month, baby niece number 2, also known as New Baby, turned 1. Not so new anymore! We planned a rainbow themed birthday party for her and scheduled it for last weekend. Because of the nasty blizzard, we had to reschedule it for this weekend. It was small, and a lot of our family was mysteriously missing but those of us who made it had a very nice time. Fantastic food, lovely decorations and sweet, sweet babies. What else could you ask for? Baby niece number one was ready to start the part! I told my brother I didn't think... Continue reading

This is my dog last Thursday. The first snowstorm had hit and she seemed to be enjoying it like she was from Tibet. She spent a lot of time outside that day, and I just assumed she was loving the snow. Later that evening though, just after dinner, she started shivering and panting. As the night went on she got worse and before long she couldn't seem to settle herself anywhere for more than a couple minutes. I was reminded of about a month ago when the same sort of thing happened. She had thrown up and then was in... Continue reading

Snowmagedon 2 is on the way, and so it seems a good time to show you some photos of my back yard from Snowmagedon 1. Call it making the best of a bad situation. First, a movie of the snow. Winter makes my brain hurt, so I got the date wrong on the title. Woops. I have to admit, I'm still seriously hoping they're wrong about this storm and I'll wake up in the morning to 2.5 inches instead of the 10 to 12 they're promising. Continue reading
