Really amazing who helpless the Western world is ... A bit of complaints, a few sanctions (but not too much, since many have business with Russia...), a bit of bla, bla ... and the guy over in Russia does what he wants! In a way I am happy! But what this shows, everything is so interconnected, that one gets away with such behavior. And should one day one powerful player decide not let the other away, then the big war is here, exactly because everything is so interconnected! Continue reading

This will be another state in which for the person on the street life will gets much worse, before it get better. But probably the price is worth paying for the ultimate freedom and self-determination. Continue reading

An autocratic, egocentric guy who tries to be a nice Father Christmas before the Olympics in Sochi. That really smells! But I am happy for Chodorkowsky and the other ones, who now can be back home for Christmas. Continue reading

It is interesting to see how nobody dares to push the removal of this guy too far. He has killed many people with chemical weapons, but what is more important and nobody talks about that, he still kills people EVERY DAY with conventional weapons. But it appears as if for now, this is the smaller problem than what could emerge when he is gone and the region is further destabilized ... very difficult dilemma of these people in the "driving seat". Quiet surprising to see this gentleman behaving like the other despotes in the region. Not to forget, that this country is lobbying heavily to join the EU. May be the EU should relook at their expansion strategy. Continue reading

I think Margaret Thatcher did a good job. The only way societies do prosper and progress is when enterpreneurship and freedom of action is assured. Too much regulation is harmful. A free market is still the best foundation for a prospering economy. David Cameron better learns from history. Quiet a surprise, I have to say! The state, respectively the European bureaucracy, taking away 10% of your hard earned money must be a shock. Bit look a bit closer. A full collapse would have made them loose much more! And of course, the oversized banking-system in Cyprus is flushed with Russian "funny" money. The European tax payers would not have accepted a full bail-out of Russian oligarchs! So, somehow it makes sense. However let's see whether the implications are bigger than they thought. (Bank runs in other weak countries??) Related articles 'The Cypriot Haircut' The Eurogroup has set Cyprus... Continue reading

The prospect of a change from the pacifist nature of the Japanese attitude to a more assertive one is scary to me. Obviously the Chinese emergence economically and militarily is the obvious reason. But still ... Continue reading

The recent actions of North Korea and the (non-) reaction of the rest of the world serves an interesting lesson in many aspects. It took a very long time. But even he had to realize that the truth always prevails! How good to see that. When you listen to him, one is still not sure whether this is now the full truth. Too many times has he lied. But I must say personally, I have some sympathy that he did confess! We all make mistakes and sometimes it is hard to admit! But this guy is a fighter and likes the limelight. I would almost bet, that he is not going to disappear from the public eye. This is the start of a... Continue reading

You could call it clever marketing. On one side an overweight, declining action-star on the other hand a guy who takes every opportunity for self-promotion and distributing side-kicks to his leader- colleagues in Europe. But clearly the underlaying story here is, whether it is smart for a country like France to tax the rich and wealthy at a rate of 75%? The effects are obvious from the Depardieu and Putin story. I find it quiet disturbing how much attention the signature of the new US Treasury Secretary in waiting, Mr Jack Lew, was attracting! You could open any reputable and not so reputable newspaper and you would find an article on his signature. Google "new treasury secretary" and you will find pages after pages with links to this topic... How many people are bothering what signature is on their bank-notes? I think we all and in particuar the United States of America have bigger problems! So focus on these! Related articles The Worst Signature Ever? Edge on Demand: Treasury Secretary's Goofy... The big question is of course what the new year of 2013 will bring to the world, to our business and us personally ... ? Our permanent wish to predict the future is very bizzare. A big phrase and many people do not know what it means! I assume the American politicians are not as stupid and let this issue unresolved! That would be like committing suicide! But even they increase the debt ceiling, increase some taxes and cut some spending, the problem is NOT resolved! The USA have too much debt and unfunded liabilities! There is no way out other than inflation! Let's see! Continue reading
