Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. On the needles is a simple baby hat for a friend. And reading the second in a series, a cozy mystery and fast read. I think they are probably 100-150 pages. I think, maybe 2-2.5 hours reading max. Hope you are finding time to relax and play. I cannot believe, as much as I love this yarn and FO, that I finished this in MAY and am just writing about it now! There must surely have been many garden parties in the Age of Brass and Steam. Garter Eyelet. Such a simple and yet pleasing detail. I would talk endlessly about it at a Mansfield Garden Party. This shawl was ridiculously fast and easy. I perfect pattern to either show off a wildly varigated yarn, such as this one. Or to make a simple, elegant gift with a precious skein. Perhaps the perfect elegant wrap for a... Continue reading

Love candle-lit nights! We built towers and helped in the garden while we were sick this week (I couldn't pick just one) http://work-in-progress.typepad.com/work-in-progress/2014/10/this-moment.html

{this moment} . . . . . . . . . {this moment} ~ A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. Reading The Art of Happiness - I wish the covers were as pretty on Kindle as they are in real life. And my first ever mitered anything. In this case, a dishcloth. We are home sick today and taking long naps. Continue reading

I can't believe I've had no FO posts since April! And I really have knit nearly every day this year. So, in keeping my idea from my last post that I just need to get some FOs out there, here are the most recent three. I've been a bit disorganized since I finished my top (I DID finish) and haven't had a chance to wind any yarn. But I had a class and didn't want to lose all that knitting time. So I've just had a stream of dishclothes. Left to right: DW Darrell Waltrip, my own garter eyelet, and... Continue reading

Here is the update for May through September. There won't be much kitting this time around, I'm afraid! As before, If you only want to see the knitting goals, just boop, boop, boop, down to the RED text. Without further ado... 1. This may be the one bright light in today's post. I don't feel like I've done much well this summer, but I am good at plopping down in my dirty house and building a megablocs tower and knocking it down and building a new one. That's a good thing. 2 & 4. I think we're doing good on... Continue reading

Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. Angst blossom is complete! I finished just in time last night before the end of the KAL. More on the tank later. Well, I'm in a class this week so I knew I needed something to knit. I grabbed some yarn and cast on for another dishcloth. I found this pattern just before class started. I'm on the final couple pages of Like Water. I cannot say enough good things about this book. Children learning organically, taking responsibility for their lives and their educations.... Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. I find it ironic that a project with lotus blossoms - rather linked with the calm of Buddhism - could inspire such angst. After Partner's comments about "is it supposed to be so loose," et cetera, I've knit most of the last few days in dread. Yesterday I finished up the front shaping and tried it on again and it wasn't long enough. Argh! I thought it might block out large enough and considered knitting on but in the end decided I needed to... Continue reading

Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. So I'm continueing to work on my Lotus Tank. And I can't shake the feeling that it's too big. I'm about to switch down a needle size. I wish I'd measured my swatch before blocking (it grew quite a bit) so I could compare my pre-blocked tank with my swatch gauge. So, the pattern calls for US5s but I'm going down to US3s. I'll be really irritated if this doesn't work out! As for reading... I don't have any! Rue was so right -... Continue reading

Hi there! I waited so long with this post from last week that it's Wednesday again and not late! And who ever said procrastination was bad? I finished book six and seven of the Anne of Green Gables series and just today started the eighth and final book! I'll be a bit sad when they are done! My kindle version is boring so here is the image from Amazon! I'm continuing to make progress on my Lotus Blossom Tank but I don't have an updated picture. Nearly done with the lace. Now I know the rest of the tank is... Continue reading

Thank you for all your kind comments about Partner's new book. Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. Gosh, I didn't realize how long it had been since I'd done one of these! Last week I started Lotus Blossom Tank. This has been in my queue for over six years! The newest eat.sleep.knit challenge was to knit something from your first year on Ravelry. This will certainly be a challenge as it's about 900 yards in two months. Oh, and did I mention I'm modifying the heck out of it? The... Continue reading
