Joining Ginny this week. Comment with what you're reading and knitting. Reading yet another amazing Jack Reacher novel. Seriously, the books are great, particularly the early ones in the series. I'm working on a secret project. Each stitch is full of so much love. But there are a lot of stitches. And I'm a slow knitter. Since I can't show you the project I'm knitting, I'll show you the yarn that is singing its siren song.... Continue reading

I'm nothing if not timely right? Maybe my delay in posting this just shows I'm not just taking part in the New Year's resolution fads? I'm going with that. :) Quick and dirty to get it out there: First up, knitting goals 1. With some of the KALs I did last year, I realized that I am horrible about documenting projects - pictures taken and never loaded. Projects completed and never documented. 2. I did up my ravelry stash a few years ago and then never uploaded the photos and ... stopped. So, I'm going to go back to it.... Continue reading

Joining Ginny this week. Comment with what you're reading and knitting. In my over ambitious January, when I thought I could knit a sweater and whip out a surprise knit, I signed up for a mystery hat KAL. The pattern is Rikke. The yarn is Tosh Merino Light in Turquoise. It has been a great mindless knit during class. Speaking of which, the reading for class? It's not mindless. Ugh. Continue reading

Joining Ginny this week. Comment with what you're reading and knitting. I am enjoying miles of garter stitch. No counting, no shaping, no special techniques, just the simple rhythm of knitting. As for reading... in a fit of insanity, I signed up for a graduate seminar through work. Such a ridiculous amount of reading and on a topic I know almost nothing about. Continue reading

So, another year gone. I don't know about you, but I think I'm glad 2014 is gone. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't that good. Just a vague discontent about the year without being able to say that was bad. But, since I've completed my 2015 goals, I thought I'd wrap up 2014. Al always, just boop boop boop down to the red if you're only interested in knitting. 1. I think PRESENT was a good word for me. I'm not sure I'm done with it in 2015 but more on that later. I spent a lot of time just... Continue reading

Joining Ginny this week. Comment with what you're reading and knitting. I read the Chamber of Secrets incredibly fast so now I'm on Prisoner of Azkaban. Unfortunately, our copy of Goblet of Fire is missing so I'm not sure what I'll read next. I had to tear out and restart the jacket, but I'm trying my hardest to catch up. Continue reading

Joining Ginny this week. A spin this week. Not what I am working on, but what I am gifting. These are the knitted gifts for Christmas this year. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. I should look and see how many times Harry Potter books make an appearance here. I decided last week that it was the perfect Christmas book. I'm just at the troll, but the invisibility cloak will make an appearance soon enough! I'll admit that Wiggle's stocking still needs some duplicate stitching, but I decided not to stress over that. It's... Continue reading

Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. I picked A Killer of Pilgrims back up after a long break. I'm having to reread a bit because it's been so long and the author sprinkles clues throughout the book. I love these books, but it is hard to read sharing a room with a little. A couple days ago I started a Christmas gift. I'm going to keep it a secret, even if the recipient probably wouldn't realize it was for him, even if he read the blog. "Bye bye!" "Uh oh"... Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. The little blue hat has been finished for a week, but I still need to do some embellishment. Good thing I always knit too big so maybe baby will still be able to wear it! I'm on the last couple rows of a cowl for my Mom for Christmas. Of course, those rows are 201 stitches (miscounted by one while casting on) and purling takes SO. LONG. This project has eaten yarn and it won't be as high as I'd hoped. I suspect she'll... I have knit several of Kristen's patterns, including a mystery sock pattern. I decided to participate in a shawl KAL. When I was knitting, I was afraid I'd made a mistake because the ribbed lace looked awful. But then after blocking the pattern is beautiful. In the initial instructions, Kristen said to use a solid yarn or a gradient. I was insistent on using stash yarn and I only had one yarn with enough yardage. Sigh. I should have done a modified gradient with some other yarn in stash. This pattern would have done so much nicer in a solid... Continue reading
