Oh goodness. Iain is really starting to play with dolls and I'd love to encourage it with more natural items. Thank you.

Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. I picked A Killer of Pilgrims back up after a long break. I'm having to reread a bit because it's been so long and the author sprinkles clues throughout the book. I love these books, but it is hard to read sharing a room with a little. A couple days ago I started a Christmas gift. I'm going to keep it a secret, even if the recipient probably wouldn't realize it was for him, even if he read the blog. "Bye bye!" "Uh oh"... Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. The little blue hat has been finished for a week, but I still need to do some embellishment. Good thing I always knit too big so maybe baby will still be able to wear it! I'm on the last couple rows of a cowl for my Mom for Christmas. Of course, those rows are 201 stitches (miscounted by one while casting on) and purling takes SO. LONG. This project has eaten yarn and it won't be as high as I'd hoped. I suspect she'll... I have knit several of Kristen's patterns, including a mystery sock pattern. I decided to participate in a shawl KAL. When I was knitting, I was afraid I'd made a mistake because the ribbed lace looked awful. But then after blocking the pattern is beautiful. In the initial instructions, Kristen said to use a solid yarn or a gradient. I was insistent on using stash yarn and I only had one yarn with enough yardage. Sigh. I should have done a modified gradient with some other yarn in stash. This pattern would have done so much nicer in a solid... Continue reading

First Halloween (that he was awake for). No trick or treating for him, but he helped hand out candy and looked at all the costumes. http://work-in-progress.typepad.com/work-in-progress/2014/11/this-moment.html

Oh my the children's bake set would be lovely (and quieter than the currently appropriated real kitchen ware!) Thank you

Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. On the needles is a simple baby hat for a friend. And reading the second in a series, a cozy mystery and fast read. I think they are probably 100-150 pages. I think, maybe 2-2.5 hours reading max. Hope you are finding time to relax and play. I cannot believe, as much as I love this yarn and FO, that I finished this in MAY and am just writing about it now! There must surely have been many garden parties in the Age of Brass and Steam. Garter Eyelet. Such a simple and yet pleasing detail. I would talk endlessly about it at a Mansfield Garden Party. This shawl was ridiculously fast and easy. I perfect pattern to either show off a wildly varigated yarn, such as this one. Or to make a simple, elegant gift with a precious skein. Perhaps the perfect elegant wrap for a... Continue reading

Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. Reading The Art of Happiness - I wish the covers were as pretty on Kindle as they are in real life. I can't believe I've had no FO posts since April! And I really have knit nearly every day this year. So, in keeping my idea from my last post that I just need to get some FOs out there, here are the most recent three. I've been a bit disorganized since I finished my top (I DID finish) and haven't had a chance to wind any yarn. But I had a class and didn't want to lose all that knitting time. So I've just had a stream of dishclothes. Left to right: DW Darrell Waltrip, my own garter eyelet, and... Continue reading

Here is the update for May through September. There won't be much kitting this time around, I'm afraid! As before, If you only want to see the knitting goals, just boop, boop, boop, down to the RED text. Without further ado... 1. This may be the one bright light in today's post. I don't feel like I've done much well this summer, but I am good at plopping down in my dirty house and building a megablocs tower and knocking it down and building a new one. That's a good thing. 2 & 4. I think we're doing good on... Continue reading

Joining Ginny this week. Feel free to leave a comment with what you're reading and knitting. Angst blossom is complete! I finished just in time last night before the end of the KAL. More on the tank later. Well, I'm in a class this week so I knew I needed something to knit. I grabbed some yarn and cast on for another dishcloth. I found this pattern just before class started. I'm on the final couple pages of Like Water. I cannot say enough good things about this book. Children learning organically, taking responsibility for their lives and their educations....
