Hey wait....was I first? Cool....
Derrick Mason doesn't think Channing "Chowder" is funny
Channing Crowder's irreverent demeanor is kind of engaging. Now that he's playing again, and at a fairly high level, he is talking to the media again and giving his opinion about things such as politics and the opposition. On Thursday, while discussing the Ravens, Crowders was actually being com...
Blah Blah Blah
Yak Yak Yak
I'm really looking forward to this game. Miami needs this win badly and I hope this is the start of them turning things around. Baltimore is as usual a really tough team but beating them makes a huge statement in this division. Let go FINS

I know that assault can be something minor as hell but this is really not good.
Bottom line if he's guilty he deserves everything he gets including being cut or hopefully traded. I was hoping with Odrick coming here he would finally step up his game but if this is true I just want this guy gone.
Merling arrested for aggravated battery
Defensive end Phillip Merling is in the Broward County main jail this morning after being arrested Wednesday for aggravated battery on woman, according to the Broward Sheriff's office. Details of the incident that led to the arrest are still forthcoming but this one is not good: The woman Merlin...
A couple of years ago I could have seen it happening. However, the Dolphins want to go young and right now have a pretty decent receiving corps. Marshall is a stud and the only concern becomes if he's hurt. The rest of the guys compliment him well. TO would just take balls away from other players and wouldn't be content to share with Marshall and the rest.
All that said, it really does frighten to think of what it would look like of Marshall were to be injured or suspended.
Owens sets off Dolfan frenzy with tweet
At 8:36 a.m. today, Terrell Owens tweeted the following: "Miami bound..." And about 10 seconds later I got a bunch of twitter followers asking if this meant Owens is going to sign with the Dolphins. From what I can see, many of Owens' own followers recognized the same possibility and asked him i...
OK OK this is going too far now. I am a HUGE Zach Thomas fan. Although Dan is up on deity status, Zach is my favorite player other than Dan. I don't see the issue here. At this point it's almost like no matter what they do it's going to look bad.
I'd love if Zach got invited in to retire as a Dolphins player and give a farewell speech. Then we'd get all the stories of how this was just a way to save face and too little too late.
Is it possible that this rookie coming into this program idolizes a player of the stature of Zach Thomas in this team's history? I for one would love if that was the case and I'm sure it would be an honor for him. Perhaps he would like the number to honor Zach.
However, of course, if this was done simply to tweak Zach for speaking out and if Odrick is suddenly 99, then I agree it's just nasty business.
Another PR black eye on the horizon? Maybe
It's been a long offseason for the Dolphins, one filled with more perceived flubs and miscues than last year's four-turnover afternoon at Buffalo. Trying to be a postive, glass-half-full person, I guess I can look past the fumbled termination of Joey Porter's contract, which had other teams and ...
NJ Phin, I think I was thinking of Larry Foote who played for the Steelers and then went to the Lions. I remember reading recently (profootballtalk) that he would be unrestricted this year. I could be wrong. But thanks for the clarification.
Ten issues facing the Miami Dolphins
The last month or so has been interesting because tons of stuff has happened with the Dolphins that have led to many notions of what is about to happen. Some of those notions are probably well-founded (such as Joey Porter is going to get cut) while others aren't. I figured today would be a good ...
1. Joey Porter. I agree he's gone. For all of those saying they can't let him win keep in mind he was gone anyway. His public fight doesn't matter to him. The Dolphins were going to let him go anyway. He knows that and that's the point of the public attack. That way he can say he wanted out not that he was tossed. Reality is known in the league.
2. Gibril Wilson. I don't know that they get rid of him with Nolan here. Maybe some different coaching and schemes make for a better player. Personally, I want him gone. If they can find a better player which I definitely think they can, then bye bye. That's one good thing about the uncapped year.
3. Elvis Dumervil. Man it would be awesome but I agree it's not happening. Denver is NOT going to get rid of Cutler, Marshall, and Dumervil in two seasons. The fans would burn down Mile High!!! I think the Dolphins will be looking at the draft to address this. IL BTW, Lamar Woodley from Pitt? I think he's unrestricted.....something to think about.
4. Brandon Marshall. NOPE....'nuff said
5. Anquan Boldin. I like his style of play and think the Dolphins receivers would all benefit from having him take attention from them. If he could be had for 3rd that would be heaven. I just don't see it happening.
6. Channing Crowder. I think he stays but is on a short leash. They are looking for his replacement and he knows it. It's all on him.
7. Ted Ginn Jr. Wow....That's almost like saying BOMB on an airplane. Just don't do it! I want to think he can finally do something but he just regressed too much this season. If a player like Boldin came here then it can take pressure off and that would be a huge for him. He's just not a pressure player. In the long run I think he will be and want him replaced.
8. Ronnie Brown. I agree not an issue right now. He can be great if not so often injured but the injuries are a problem. Hopefully causes the trifecta to have to think with a great season.
9. Chad Pennington. A player I think brings terrific value to this team and should be brought back if he will accept a backup role. I think the team wants to move forward with Henne but he would be a gigantic backup. I want him back as a player and a future coach.
10. Jason Taylor. He is completely different than Porter and I hope they can work something out. I'm all for a youth movement but think experience and mentoring is needed. Jason Taylor provides both and loves this city and team. I think a year or two and he can retire happy.

This is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, I think they should get rid of him and thought so as the season ended before all this came up. I want JT here instead of JP. I just think he's the better player right now.
On the other hand, it's kinda hard to give a player his wish when you're the team. It's one thing when it's a player like Perter who's on the decline and older; I just wonder if other players are going to see this and think it's starting a trend.
Jay Cutler cried and whined himself out of Denver. That made Brandon Marshall think he could do the same. Denver stood pat on him, but not there are rumblings he could go.
What are the Dolphins going to do if Vontae Davis, Chad Henne, Sean Smith, or a player of that ilk sees JP pull this off and they try the same thing?
As a fan, get rid of him. I prefer Jason Taylor and think he has a season or two left and will be a productive player and mentor.
The choice on Porter: Cut him or, well, cut him
The Miami Dolphins have two choices with Joey Porter. They can cut him the first weeks of March before a $1 million roster bonus he is scheduled to receive comes due. Or they can lose all credibility with the rest of the players in their locker room, the media, and their fans. It's that simple. ...
I don't think there's a chance the Dolphins take this guy but don't count out other teams. Don't forget that huge guy who ran without a shirt on in a bizarro world representation of ALL The Baywatch babes running in unison. Anyway, he was picked 6-7 wasn't he? Somebody will think they can do it and if we're lucky he goes somewhere 1-11. That just leaves another quality player for the Fins to have a choice of!
Mountainous Cody too fat for Dolphins?
Sometimes you can tell what the Dolphins are thinking based on some strong philosophical roots Bill Parcells laid down long ago and isn't likely to give up anytime time soon. We know Parcells doesn't like diva receivers. We know Parcells doesn't like giving away draft picks. We know Parcells ins...
Aren't Ray Lewis and Teddy Bruschi ILBs? I ask not as a challenge but to point out that yes OLB is a huge role in the 3-4 but ILB can be huge too. I want to see the players we have outside develop. Like a lot of the posts here, I'd prefer to keep JT and let go of Porter if it's one or the other. If we can keep both, I'm actually OK with that though. I DO give Bowles a pass because he coached with two rookie starting corners and Wilson who may as well have been a rookie too. I'm expecting a major improvement in the secondary this coming season. So is OLB Coach something that Pepper Johnson could help us out in and could they even talk to him about the job??
Dolphins OLB coaching job is still open
The Dolphins obviously believe they had a great day on Tuesday. They filled their inside linebacker coaching job and they made what seems like a widely popular hire of Mike Nolan as the new defensive coordinator. Great job by them, it seems. But work time is not over. You see, I attended South F...
Payton Manning could never beat Florida back in college so he was an obvious bust. Ryan Leaf did wonders with Washington and his game was more NFL ready......get the point?
You just don't know until they play at this level. Deal with it. So far, Henne has looked good for a first year starter.
Kubiak: Touch passes come with experience
Gary Kubiak played QB in the NFL. He coached QBs in the NFL. So he knows something about QBs in the NFL. And today on his conference call with the Dolphins media, Kubiak explained that those touch passes some quarterbacks -- Chad Henne for one -- have to master come with work and experienced. "I...
I really think it's great to see the players giving back to the community like this. I love this type of story and makes me even prouder of being a DolFan.
Dolphins do a good deed for Christmas
Not a lot of words for you this morning. Those will come later, immediately following the press conferences, conference calls, open locker room, and whatever phone calls from your servant blogger to sources get returned. So check back later for information. Meanwhile, you might be interested to ...
downer12,
I've said on a few posts that I'd love to see the Dolphins get Golden Tate. I know it's way early to be looking at draft, but he is a great receiver and fights hard for every yard. I've watched him play for a couple of years now living in Chicago since we can see ND games. I would absolutely love this pick.

What I don't like is that Jake Grove and Nate Jones are both listed as questionable. I'm more worried about Jones. I hope Allen can play a good game if needed.
Ferguson: 2010 a go if recovery goes well
Jason Ferguson has already begun his rehabilitation following surgery to repair a right quadricep injury. He's been doing his rehab every morning at Dolphins camp. And that's pretty important because the veteran nose tackle says he wants to return to the Dolphins next year if that recovery goes ...
My only concern with Wilford is he's a TE and the Dolphins have been getting killed by them. From what is being said PFT, "Their best cornerback (Rashean Mathis), wide receiver (Mike Sims-Walker), and defensive tackle (John Henderson) were all listed as doubtful on the injury report Friday"
That's good news for Miami.

There's no way Suh is available where the Dolphins will be picking. I tend to agree with those saying he will more likely be a 3-4 end than NT. How about Golden Tate if he's there? I've seen him play all year living in the Chicago area and the kid is spectacular. I know Parcells hates first round receivers but this kid can flat out play. I'd love to see him as a Fin. I will admit I don't follow college all that closely. It's just my humble opinion.

I think this staff has done a lot with what they had and not sacrificing draft picks to do it overall. My main issue with the last game isn't that they lost, it's that they seemed to give up. I saw an offense that had no chemistry or concentration and a defense that couldn't stop the Bills! THE BILLS!!!!! I was very disillusioned after that game. If we beat NE, when can be done, then all of the sudden everything looks different and you have a much happier fan base. If they stay in the game the whole way again things are looking up. If they show up and lay another egg.....get ready for some REAL whining and moaning.
Miami Dolphins personnel dept. good not great
One of my twitter followers (which you should join, by the way) asked me Tuesday afternoon what order of responsibility I would assign to Miami's current struggles. OK, let me be more honest: He asked who I blame for Miami's problems this season. Well, with the Dolphins the responsibility (blame...
I never want to see a player hurt. Not even a jeds player! All in all, I think both of them are walking a fine line. While I am obviously biased, I think Scott's comment was worse that Porter's. I can understand the whole ice pack thing not necessarily meaning to take them out of the game put to make them sore from hits so they're looking for a pass rush even if one isn't there and that head is on a swivel. Scott is flat out saying he wants the QB out of the game. I guess the same can be inferred from Joey but I didn't see it so I can't say.
I think this game is going to be brutal and both teams are going to try and prove which is tougher. I hope for a physical but clean game from both teams with the Dolphins winning. That's the outcome I really care about.
Dolphins-Jets rivalry borders on thuggery
The rhetoric surrounding this Dolphins-Jets rivalry has always been fun. The players bark back and forth the week before the game. The fans get drunk on game day, fight each other and go to work the next day with fewer teeth. The players knock heads on the field and then go home and brag about i...
