Found a funny video about Wiccans by what appears to be a Wiccan. Consider it a rant by proxy...I love Wicca, but usually can't stand Wiccans. Continue reading

When I first started this blog it was my intent to accompany my cathartic rants with a few miscellaneous tidbits reflecting my own personal fancies. A primary category I wanted to include was a section for book reviews. To date I believe I have given once such "review", if I can call it that. On this occasion though, I want to give a book recommendation instead...sans review. Frankly, I haven't a clue of the contents within Geert Wilders new title, Marked For Death, and in all truth, I really don't care. If for no other reason, I have purchased the... Continue reading

As a follow up to the last post (so this makes, what...two this year so far?), I had the opportunity to witness yet another OWS event today. Well, technically it wasn't Occupy Wall Street, since we were not on Wall Street. But that really doesn't matter, since "Occupy" is the important part of the equation. The whole Occupy "movement" has expanded well beyond Wall Street. Now it's Occupy <insert geographical location>. But here's basically how the whole thing shook out... The Occupiers did thier little march down the streets, and eventually ended up at the Legislature building. True to form,... Continue reading

It's been a while since I have posted, and hell...it may be while longer until my next rant. Real life and a variety of interests, not to mention a recurring bad case of the lazies, can be a real stumbling block. But here's an issue that I felt compelled to get indignant about. I remember when the Tea Party first came about, and feeling somewhat indifferent and even cautious. I wanted to wait for a little bit and see what was going to shake out of the whole thing. To my pleasant surprise I was amazed that these folks seemed... Continue reading

The Dutch courts today acquitted populist politician Geert Wilders from charges of discrimination and using hate speech. This is a great day, my friends...and lovers of true liberty around the world should rejoice. The summarized story is this: a lot of destabilization and unrest have come with the massive influx of muslim immigrants to Holland (a common problem amongst many western countries). WIth an increased population have come many demands to change Holland into something unlike Holland...you know, into something more like the intolerant third world countries that these ungrateful parasites came from. Enter Geert Wilders, the gutsiest and arguably... Continue reading

And here we go again. There is something special that happens with a persons ascension to power. When the personal coffers flow and celebrity draws the dumb masses to your feet with whispers you can only interpret as confirmation of your greatness...well, the world changes. And it does it all for you. How could it not? The stars have aligned with no purpose other than to proclaim your superiority. It doesn't matter how you got there...athlete, movie star, singer, or politician...they are all the same, paths to a destiny meant only for the anointed amongst us. And when you get... And they're off... Election season is upon us once again. Dems already know who their candidate is. They've apparently contented themselves to play it safe by continuing support for the current amateur in office, their money riding on the fact that he still seems startlingly electable. Meanwhile, on the other side of the isle things are shaking up a bit, and the race to become the opposition nominee is on. I am tempted to go off into my own little analysis of the current crop of candidates, but that is something perhaps best left for another time. Instead, I would... Continue reading

I felt I had to throw something up after such a long departure, if for no other reason than to justify the hosting costs. This pretty much summed up the totality of my sentiments at the moment. And here's one for the road... Continue reading

I saw this over at Hookers and Booze and just had to steal it. Kinda dove tails off my previous post too, now that I think about it. And besides, I'm a bit of a memeophobe. Enjoy. -VSP Continue reading

I still remember vividly the exact moment we first heard of the attacks that occurred on 9/11. I was sitting at a desk down in the hazmat locker onboard my ship when the Bos'n piped across the 1-MC, followed by the familiar voice of the Captain detailing all he knew of the horrific event. We were over a month into a six month operational tour (or "pleasure cruise", if it can be fairly called that) in the Mediterranean, and as I recall, had thus far been rewarded with a few days R&R in both Gibraltar and Malta. Our new orders,... Continue reading

The times, they are a changin'. And then again, some things never change. While many muslim dominated countries in the middle-east and Africa are feeling the heat of revolutionary fires, no less important of a battle is brewing here in the homeland. Both phenomena are overdue righteous stands against tyranny; one against the inflexible demands and rule of a freedom killing government (wherever that may be), the other against the equally inflexible demands of country killing labor unions. Anticipating accusations of being a mindless sell-out to the opposition right, let me clarify at the outset: I am a card carrying,... Continue reading

Bill Cosby is and will always be amongst the greatest comedians in history. I have long admired not only his exceptional wit, but also that he has maintained the highest standards of decency while the bulk of his trade has veered heavily towards the opposite. When other comics like Red Foxx and Richard Pryor were finding audiences through the appeal of more salacious humor, Dr. Cosby insisted by example that gutter comedy relies on lowest common denominator crutches which are of no use to those who possess true comic genius. Just take a look at the trash that passes for... Continue reading

A friend of mine recently pointed me to a video on the border crisis issue we are having. Regrettably, I could not figure out how to embed it, so I have to just throw the link up instead. Do yourself a favor and take the few minutes to watch it here at the NRA site. Thanks to SKL. -VSP Continue reading

Here we have it, folks. A perfect picture of the chaos on our borders, and a crystal clear snapshot of how these folks think. Did you really buy the notion that securing the borders was merely an obsession of the insensitively non-inclusive? Did you really think it was about right-wing fascist hatred? We've got chaos on our borders, my friends. Innocent Americans are dying at the hands of these lawless vermin while our political class does nothing. And it ain't simply libertad that they're clamoring for. We owe them, you see. I mean I would have never thunk it, but... Continue reading

I was perusing Fox News (aren't you?) this morning and hesitated to follow the link titled "A Psychiatrist's Advice for President Obama". A former psychology student of several years, I've come to have a falling out with the soft science as a whole, actually viewing it in large part as more squishy than soft. Regrettably, where psychiatry and psychology seem to overlap, I tend to extend this disrepute to the former as well, although I consider it more legitimate on the whole than the latter. Anyway, this is all to say that I followed the link suspiciously. I am glad... Continue reading

Okay...the latest flap in the whole birther controversy is simultaneously predictable and irritatingly unsettling. For those not in the know, "birther" is a pejorative term used for those who question our current presidents place of birth, based on hearsay, various statements (even by Obama and co.), and the apparent lack of a valid birth certificate proving his natural citizenship. Critics (birthers) rightly note that if he is not a natural citizen, then he is holding his current office illegally. This is correct, and no reasonable or legal argument can be made. Objectors scoff and roll their eyes, leveling various arguments... Continue reading

Maybe I just don't get it. The truth is, as I watch conservatives complain against the TSA and the libs defend it, I am left feeling quite confused. With all due respect to my brethren, I think you guys are just losing your grip on this whole TSA thing. Are there things we need to do to tighten it up a bit? Absolutely. But do we really want to pitch the baby with the bath water here? What do we really think our alternatives are, particularly in this insane politically correct culture? Here's a guy who pretty much sums up... Continue reading

A few recommendations for your reading pleasure (thanks to Neal Boortz, from whose page I swiped the article pointers): - An American Thinker columnist points out how Obama's power hunger surpasses that of statist icon FDR. - Algore backtracks on previous ethanol support, admits political pandering. Not a peep about global warming from the Pope of enviro-hysteria. - A nice little piece by David Boaz on the things we have to be thankful for as Americans. - Race pimp Al Sharpton is crying again, this time about wanting to silence talk radio. Yet another liberal opposed to freedom of speech.... Continue reading

No, it's not a joke. It is regretably far more accurate than not. Although I am not exactly a fan of Savage, he had it right when he proclaimed that liberalism is a mental disorder. One that is inherently dangerous to the rest of us. Know thy enemy...Obama knows his. -VSP Continue reading

At only a little past midnight on 3 October, one of the most interesting political elections in modern times is all but concluded. All projections mark results that mirror my own previous predictions: Vast gains by conservatives in the House, ousting Fraulein Pelosi from her throne as Speaker of the House; Significant gains in the Senate, allowing liberals to retain control (with the aid of two Independants who caucas left); and an as of yet undetermined number of Republicans constituting the majority of Gubenetorial positions. It's a good day for freedom loving folk across the nation. Hopes for gaining control... Continue reading

The folks over at Pagan+Politicswere kind enough to ask if I would consider becoming a participant on their website. The idea behind P+P, part of the Pagan Newswire Collective, is to maintain a space wherein the different political views amongst Pagans can be shared and expressed in a more calm and friendly atmosphere. I don't pretend that anything I might have to say or contribute would be particularly noteworthy, but there is a definite deficit of conservative views there, as is the case with the overall Pagan community which tends to be dominated by exclusively loony-left views. Hence, the invitation,... Continue reading

I'm not quite in a full-on ranty mood at the moment, but thought I would share a few articles I found as of late. The first is an article by Jonah Goldberg, Liberalism's Greatest Failure. Not to spoil the surprise, but I would have to agree that what passes for education in North America should be considered child abuse...absolutely criminal. Moving on to the Tea Party, Stanley Fish wrote a piece at the NYT that I hope describes accurately the delusions of Tea Party opponents. And finally, for those who try to paint the Tea Party as some sort of... Continue reading
