I recently replaced all of my athletic socks on a trip to a warehouse store. For all the other assorted socks (dress, funky, etc.), I recommend an investment in sock rings.

The cool thing is that for all of this stuff to become the explanations for the real world, someone had to have the imagination to look for it. The true pioneers in the world are the ones who combine not only the imagination of the writers of the world, but the ability of the scientists of the world. Most of the truly wonderful things that have been created or discovered are a combination of two great minds. Being a dwarf standing on the shoulders of giants does not diminish the beauty of the newly-sighted discovery.

If you're really bothered by the 'um's and 'and's, you might look into a local chapter of Toasmasters ( ). I sat in on a meeting once and they used bells that, when someone used a "verbal pause", they would ring the bell to give you immediate feedback.
