Tuesday 14th June was a beautiful day... We captured these early morning rays of sunshine while walking along the beach at Hervey Bay. It was the perfect start to a very important day That was the day we sent our Mum on her final journey, the weather was sublime, the service was simple, gentl...
Thank you for the wonderful interview, Amanda. It is so nice to learn more about Natalie - and I smiled when you likened her childhood photo to a Sindy doll... they are two peas in a very pretty pod!
The book looks beautiful, so magical and whimsical!

Here I am spilling more beans
Ok, it's time. I'm about to spill more beans. I've got something to tell you that I have been keeping quiet for quite some time and for some strange reason it makes me incredibly nervous :) At the beginning of last year I set myself a 12 month goal. I like to set my standard high, just out of r...
Congratulations on your latest book, Rosalie!
Christmas is my favourite time of the year, and I never tire of Xmas crafting! To choose ONE thing is difficult... but I think the thing I love the most is the look of excitement and wonder on my kids' faces when they go to bed on Xmas Eve, while we have carols playing in the background. Kids never question miracles, and I love their trust and enthusiasm.
Warm wishes! Vikki :-)

YAY!!!!!
Catching up
It's been such a busy week... We're all moved in to the new home, surrounded by boxes boxes and more boxes! The quilting room looks like a disaster zone... No photos until I've rearranged things because it's really embarrassing... Bit of a holdup with home ph connection (which means no internet y...

Fairy Garden canvas
I have been playing with my wool felt stash and cosmo threads to create this Fairy Garden canvas on linen. My beautiful Oma Hillie in the Netherlands used to make pictures using similar techniques. My Mother has one that My Oma made for her when she was a little girl in the 40's or 50's. I reall...
Thank you for the gorgeous giftie! How exciting about the house!!! :-)

Hello gorgeous!!
Oh drat sweetie, I was looking forward to a bit of 'plaster of paris'.... we all love a bit of provincial sweetie! Ooh - another idea - a bandaged finger featuring appique birds? Bit of button-hole stitch around edges perhaps? The possibilities are endless!!!!
Love your blog sweetie, and love you too!
Catch you round like a rissole (just make sure it isn't burnt, sweetie!) Ha!
Vikki xoxo :-)
Happy Thursday
yes... Happy Thursday to you all... :) no reason, just been flitting around a few blogs and catching up on all the crazy 'dumbing down of quilting' debate.. and having a good old giggle at the nonsense! It reminded me of an email I received on Tuesday from a lovely lady telling me that my blog n...

Only Three Sleeps
Well it's almost here, my big adventure to the US. In the meantime I have been working hard to get everything ready for both here and away. I also received some gorgeous fabrics in the mail from the lovely Lynette, her new Christmas range! I have designed a wall hanging already, to stitch while...
Oh WOW Lynette - how exciting!! You look like the cat who got the cream, and that feeling is contagious!!! Congratulations! Can't wait to see this fabric in the shops!!! Hugs! Vikki :-)
Today's mail...
I could barely wait to open the two big boxes that arrived today.... I only just got them inside the front door and decided that was far enough, out came the kitchen scissors and the faster I got into the boxes..... I ripped the plastic covers off each bolt of fabric so I could admire the fabr...

Happy birthday Bloss! Sounds like a wonderful evening in store for you! Theo is just way too handsome in that shirt... dare I say... too sexy for it?!!!
Lovely photos of the Japanese garden, Cheryl. I bet you were deep in thought while there, makes you wish it could be relocated as a sanctuary doesn't it?
Lots of love sweetie! Have fun!

Lady bugs and chocolate cake
Today is our Bloss's birthday... and we get to enjoy her company and spoil her all day :) After a loooong flight home, a quick stopover in Sydney, the drive up to Toowoomba and a good night's sleep she's now settled in front of the tele for the day, watching movies... with the occasional theo cu...
Hi Amanda
I too have struggled with the issue of consumerism, but like you say, there are definitely 'items' we would miss if they were not available to us. I have lived in Australia for seven years and purchased every issue of Homespun without falter... magazines are like books to me, something to keep enjoying and not to be banished to the recycling. The only problem? I'm running out of book space!!! Luxuries that can keep giving you enjoyment are priceless and well worth their money. I so wish I had seen Notebook now... I am sure I would have really enjoyed it!
Have a wonderful day!! Vikki :-)
I miss a friend
In my endeavour to save money, 12 months ago I stopped buying magazines. In practice I have saved us anywhere from $10 to $30 a month which is a good thing. My daughter (an avid reader of the latest fashion magazines...I am still trying to convince her to lead not follow....) jumped on board and...
Hi Natalie! :-)
WOW - this design is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! I am definitely stitching this one!!! I bet Lecien has sold heaps of Flower Sugar (one of my favourite lines) and Cosmo has employed a whole heap more people to manufacture thread, since you've had your faeries on display!!!!
Divine!!!!
Warm wishes!! Vikki :-)
It's a New Pattern
It's time to share a new pattern with you. fa-er-ie (fey-uh-ree, fair-ee) - Teeny tiny elfin like peeps often found in woodlands. Love dancing with dandelions and wearing petals for dresses. Friendly souls although a tad cheeky. Remember last year I told you a little bit about a project I was ...
Another beautiful design, Cheryl! I like the idea of it in a shabby picture frame... everlasting flowers to brighten a room! I love the pic of Ratty!!!! Maybe he's a bit like me... thinks he's smaller than he really is! LOL Every time I go to buy new clothes I think "nah, that's way too big for me" - only to find that in 'real life' it is usualliy too tight once its on!!!
Hugs gorgeous gal!
Vik xxxxxxxxxx
Pretty flowers
I was playing with some flower shapes and cosmo threads the other day ... Can't have idle stitching fingers... I LOVE cosmo stranded cotton, so soft and silky. The white was an old one I had, not cosmo or DMC and, in comparison, it was like stitching with rope! If you haven't tried Cosmo st...
Hi Gail and Happy New Year to you too!
Love the sneak peeks - do you ever sleep? *giggle*
I hope all is well in your world,
Warm wishes!

a long break
Happy New Year everyone!! Well, that was a longer than intended blog break! I have been here but really have just enjoyed some time off before I start another hectic year. We have had some lovely weather up until Christmas and leading into the New Year but for the last 8 days or so it has rain...
Hello gorgeous, darling girl!!!! :-)
So glad you had a lovely Christmas! I bet you're still on a high from that wonderful trip, eh?!! I was thinking about you on Xmas Day at half past three... enjoying a lovely brew! :-) xx
I'm raising my tea cup now sweetie, toasting another year of friendship and fun for 2011! Bring it on!!!!! ;-)
Hugs in abundance sweetie! Catch you round like a Christmas pudding!!!
Theresa xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
It's all about the food really......
In abundance! Loads of it... with the Christmas Dinner Table creaking and groaning under the weight of it all :) Too much ham and eggs and toast and oven roasted cherry tomatoes and mushies fried in butter... too much roast pork and chook and stuffing... too much trifle... too many crispy roast...
Happy Christmas/New Year to you too Kellie!
Your children just keep getting more gorgeous-er with each passing year!
Warm wishes!
Vikki :-)
Merry Christmas!!
I thought we would keep things a little more traditional this year! A belated Merry Red & White Christmas to you all! Kelliex
I have no doubt your gorgeous shop looks as fabulous as ever!!
Merry Christmas, Karen!
Warm regards!! Vikki :-)
One tidy shop.....
Each of the rooms has been rearranged and cleaned. After 3 days of mess the shop was back in order by opening time this morning. Can tick that box now. I will add though, the kitchen is a disaster, will work on that tomorrow.
Hi Linda!
First of all - I'm completely thrilled to have won your beautiful giveaway - thank you! :-)
Secondly, I had to giggle at the sign on the beach... that was quite alarming!!!!
I haven't had the pleasure (giggle) of dealing with a girl's formal, yet. My son was happy to wear smart black jeans and runners... I think he's allergic to dressing up!
Enjoy! Hope the french manicure works out for you both!
Hugs! Vikki :-)
Can we just slow down a little?
I am positive I am not alone in thinking this year and in particular the end of the year is zooming along at a frantic pace. With several Christmas fairs to display at and sew for and having my handmade items ,in stock at the lovely Handmade Heaven , Mimmis and a new stockist at Tambourine Moun...
Hi Gail! :-)
Gosh, you have been busy, busy, busy!! (Do you sleep???!!!) I love both colourways for your quilt - it's always great to see a project made up in different palettes.
It was an absolute pleasure meeting you at the AQM... I didn't realise that I talked so much! TWO HOURS?!!!!! That's got to be a record!! Ha ha!
I hope your fingers aren't sore from all that stitching!
Hugs! Vikki :-)
another one!!
Okay, so by now you realise I am completely nuts....I have made another version of Berries and Bluebirds, just to give you girls out there a feel for a softer/fresh version. still to be quilted...but you get the idea!!! At AQM, I met the lovely Vikki who is designing under the label of Sew Use...
I meant beautiful "creations"!!!
Berries and bluebirds finished!
