"It doesn't matter where you are coming from. All that matters is where you are going." - Brian Tracy Good morning. We're counting down to the end of 2014! I have this feeling that there are still many exciting things to accomplish before the year ends in preparation of the new year. Do you feel the same? I believe 2015 will be tremendous in many ways. Today's thoughts are on allowing ourselves to go through the processes of life. I have found that when we do, every second of everyday becomes meaningful because we are truly in it. Whether it's... “Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it.” - Tori Amos Some months ago, we noticed a leak at home. The leak had not been in plain sight, so by the time we noticed, that area of the house had suffered some serious water damage - water was seaping out of surrounding floors and walls. The gentleman who handles our maintainance work was out of town on a family emergency, so hubby went out to the store and got some DIY sealants and other materials to fix the leak... Continue reading

“A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success.” - Unknown Beaches of Mozambique shared by DUNIA Mag on Instagram It was raining heavily this morning in Atlanta as the day began with getting the kids ready for school; then reading up on the latest news, checking emails and getting to work for the magazine. I began to think of all the effort that goes into the work we consistently do as parents and leaders --- whether it's taking care of family, preparing lesson plans, setting up conference calls and meetings, updating... "Operating from a place of love enables us to be better leaders, spouses, parents, business associates, co-workers and world citizens" Good morning Face2Face family! It's Sunday again. I hope your weekend is restful and fun. I woke up this morning, my heart filled with the determination to spread love. Good morning world. Let's remember to spread some love — Lema Abeng-Nsah (@LemaNsah) December 14, 2014 Of what good is having money in the bank while lacking happiness in our lives? I have realized that whenever we show love, react in love, we ourselves feel love. Love creates IN us peace,... Continue reading

Random moments at home What are you grateful for? Have you paused lately to count those blessings? For me, there is lots to be thankful for when I take stock of how far God has brought me. Being a mom is and always will be the greatest and most precious achievement of my life. Every moment is cherished, every day a blessing. Like most hardworking women today, I am proud to be mommy-first. One of the perks of coming from a large family is that one has siblings 'everywhere'. Yesterday, my daughter received a package from my sister-in-law in Finland.... Continue reading

The bible is full of promises that God has made to His children. When we stand on these promises, believing that what He says in His Word shall come to pass for us, we give Him permission to act in our lives. This morning I was reflecting on the following passage in Deuteronomy 32:10-12 and I'm glad to share it with you. 10 In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye 11 like an eagle that stirs up its... Continue reading

I have been working on some projects, which I will gladly share with you during these upcoming weeks. I pray you have made some strides yourself - mind, body and spiritually. Well, I am happy to be back and would love to share some thoughts on the workings of our minds. Thank you in... Continue reading

"The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance." - Luke 8:14-15 What does the plant in above photo signify? - new beginnings, humble beginnings, something to look forward to? One of the habits I've picked up in recent... Continue reading

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." - Proverbs 22:6 Have you ever wondered what the driving force is behind the work you do? What is the root of your passion? --- could it possibly be DNA? The above photo of my dad (who passed on in 2003) sits on my desk - a special source of encouragement and inspiration and a constant reminder of whose blood flows in my veins. Many that are close to me and who have followed my works over the years... Continue reading

"So the theme I’ve noticed in my life is that great success has come when I was simply doing the things I was passionate about to make whatever difference I could." - Congressmember Karen Bass (D-CA) to DUNIA Magazine It's been a while, Face2Face family. I hope you've been doing well and are being GREAT in 2014. Last week was awesome. The 3K Run we had for the women of South Sudan was very meaningful and memorable for those who participated, including me. DUNIA Magazine will be officially reporting on the event in the coming week. Personal Thoughts It's been heartbreaking to say the least ... shocking that a man would punch and knock a woman out cold in an elevator ... then act like it was normal. That no one would come to her rescue when the elevator stops, but another woman. That he would try to blame her and she would try to blame herself for the abuse. But what we see playing out on TV is happening too many times in America and across the world today. Women being beaten, raped, and violated by men, often men who are closest to them. To... "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." - John 14:27 The grind of daily life can sometimes take its toll, however, the dawn of a new day signals new possibilities. For those who're self-employed, there are some days when one seems to have ran out of options, when solutions to business hiccups are anything but forthcoming; for employees, how about those days when you'd like to ignore the alarm clock and not go to work... It's been a while. DUNIA print magazine picks up by welcoming one of Africa's shinning stars to its cover. She is Malian born musician, song writer, humanitarian Rokia Traore. Ms Traore spoke with me today from Bamako, the capital city of Mali - a country she loves deeply and is happy to help rebuild. We had an insightful conversation on a variety of topics. Rokia was upfront and very easy to talk to. We explored the future of Africa, culture, success and the music industry. I found Rokia to be quite remarkable for various reasons ... which you will read... Continue reading

The Navigation system will get you there. Pretty much gone are the days when we pulled up directions, printed them on paper before heading out for an appointment. In this day of technology, the smart phone has become the guide. We type in an address, hit the road and trust our phones' navigation systems to get us there. Some of the most valuable life lessons can be learned in unlikely ways. I believe the navigation system has lots to teach us about life and success. Exciting. We human beings generally don't like dealing with the unknown. If you've never been... Continue reading

Son on the left Hello Friends, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I need help figuring something out. If you're a parent like me, you probably agree that kids do ask some unlikely questions sometimes. My 9 year old son is bright and has a mind that works pretty fast for a kid his age. He likes to explore things, break them up and put them back together. He is smart and I believe he enjoys challenging the status quo as far as thinking patterns. In my eyes, he's a little genuis ... well you know how that... Continue reading

Passionate about your work? Do you feel blessed in being able to follow your dreams and pursuing the purpose for which you believe you were created? If yes, then you're just like me. Life unfolds as we live it. One can never really tell what the next day brings. As you may be aware, me and a group of special ladies at Women Are Core have been working on a 3K Run/Walk for South Sudan taking... Continue reading

Our lifestyles ought to be a reflection of our dreams. If you dream of starting a business, why not go out and make it happen; if you dream of giving back, reach out and lend a helping hand, if you dream of climbing up the corporate ladder, get to work and improve your performance. Everybody dreams, but only the leaders 'do' and act consistently. It was Mark Caine who said, “The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself.” What this tells us is that making... It's monday, why don't we start the week by opening up our minds and hearts for success? An open mind is more flexible and welcoming of new ideas, it is ready for fresh possibilities and embraces rewarding experiences. Here are a few reminders/quotes about having open hearts and minds: --- --- --- --- Whether life unfolds like a wonderful adventure, or shuts us in like a lonely prison cell is determined by how open or close minded we allow ourselves to be. I hope the above reminders/quotes help us loosen up, relax and make the best of every situation. Continue reading

A few months ago, Pastor Tim of Eagles Landing Baptist Church preached on what it means to live a life of faith. I took the following notes, which I am happy to share with you on this beautiful day. Faith rests on God ALONE, not in ourselves or in others. Having faith does not mean that life will be smooth, or that we will not face challenges ... it means knowing that God's love and favor is more than sufficient to see us through. Faith requires trusting God no matter what. The bible says in Hebrews 11:6, "And without faith... Continue reading

“Working hard becomes a habit, a serious kind of fun. You get self-satisfaction from pushing your self to the limit, knowing that all the effort is going to pay off.” - Mary Lou Retton ... now, who are you working with? We now live in a world where many of us are motivated to follow our dreams, where opportunities are limitless and everything is possible because of the power of the internet. At the click of a mouse, and boom, you're in business. Eyes wide open Whether starting a blog, publishing a book, signing up in network marketing, starting a... Continue reading

Notes "Don't cry over what left your life - if it's part of your destiny, it can't leave you; if it's not, it can't stay." "Don't be stuck in a place that is dead." "God has provision for anybody who has a vision." "Everyone around you is not for you." "At some point, you can't be everyone's enabler." "There are people who take from you; there are people who give to you." I would like to thank my younger sister Afuo for sharing this video with me. "Success isn't a result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire." - Arnold H. Glasow This has always been one of my favorite quotes. Why? Because first it speaks of 'excitement' and secondly 'self-motivation'; two of the most powerful must-haves for success. Self-motivate. Successful people self-motivate. They have a fire burning inside of them and they make sure the flames stay ablaze. Success comes with excitement and passion in pursuing one's dreams. Leaders do not wait for somebody else to make them feel good in order to accomplish a task, they simply learn to focus, implement and execute... Continue reading

Leadership means taking control; it means taking full responsibility and recognizing that we have it within us to make the best of any and every circumstance we find ourselves in, while moving forward one step at a time. A leader does not blame others for the choices they make, but takes full responsibility for their actions and faces the consequences bravely. A leader does not spend precious time lamenting on that which they have little or no control over, but finds ways to forge forward when faced with challenges. A leader recognizes that no excuse is ever good enough for... Continue reading

"Life happens in ups & downs. Success is embracing the changing seasons to reap the most rewards ... just like the plants do." I woke up this morning, like many, feeling thankful and blessed. As I went downstairs to turn on the coffee machine, I was once again drawn by the pull of the plants I grow in my kitchen. I went over to admire the flowering leaves and rich beautiful colors ... greens, whites, yellows and even the browns (which I made a mental note to prune off later on in the day). Only a few months ago during... Continue reading
